  1. I mentioned this in a post on the medic thread but I thought it deserved its own topic. Earlier today, I was killed by the bug where you die upon login, and then respawn with absolutely zilch in your inventory (seriously, I didn't even have a flashlight, bandage, anything). I was contemplating what the heck I should do next when I happened across a tent set up on a hill above Elektro. The tent had a couple bandages and a Makarov with some ammo. Always wary, I thought perhaps it might be a sniper trap, but it was set up amongst the terrain in such a way that it would have made for a terrible trap. No, it was clearly set out by some thoughtful person to help out people spawning on the coast. Not five minutes later, that bandage saved me because I would have otherwise bled to death from a zombie attack. I play a medic character, and I think this is a cool idea. Gather up some food/bandages/small arms/etc. and place them in tents in helpful locations where new/just respawned players can stumble across them (being sure not to put the tents somewhere that they are sniper fodder). I plan to put some tents up along the southern coast with a few goodies to repay the favor, and I hope some other people read this and get the same idea. I went from being wacked out at 3 am, pissed off at having just lost all my gear, bumping into shit in the dark, and generally not having a good time, when I stumbled across that tent. After an extremely frustrating evening, it made me feel just a little better. And I can't express how grateful I felt to the anonymous person that put up that tent after I nearly bled out in the dark and was saved by one of those bandages. It's the small moments like this which make DayZ great, and why I keep playing.
  2. Out of curiosity, why are you getting rid of a Ghillie and looking for camo instead? Just don't want to be confused as a bandit sniper? Or are you allergic to Wookie hair? :D
  3. Haha that's very true. Though it was pretty obvious to spot...if you're going to put up a tent within a couple hundred meters of a spawn point you can't really expect people not to find it :D

Need Medical Assistance? We can help.

Havocfive and his buddies helped me out tonight. I was killed by a bug when logging onto a server this evening, and respawned on the southern coast with an empty inventory (not even a flashlight). I was dying of thirst while floundering in the dark outside of Kamyshovo when I gave Havoc a call. They picked me up in their chopper, tossed me an ice cold coke, and flew me back to where my body was way up north. They even gave me a pair of NVGs so I could find my body (I already had a pair on my corpse so I'll be sure to pass my extra pair onto some other poor soul who needs them). Had a good chat on skype during the ride too. Really nice guys, and very efficient medics! Thanks! Edit: On a side note, when I first respawned with a completely empty inventory, I happened across a tent set up on a hill above Elektro that had a couple bandages and a Makarov with some ammo. It was clearly set out by some thoughtful person to help out people spawning on the coast. That bandage saved me because I would have bled to death from a zombie attack shortly thereafter. Thank you mystery person, whoever you were. I plan to put some tents up along the southern coast with a few goodies to repay the favor :)

  7. Had this happen today. Had no trouble logging onto the first server tonight, but when I logged out (normally) and switched servers to join a friend, my game bugged out. I spawned in the no-man's-land debug zone with nothing in my inventory, no backpack, and a server message saying I was killed. Being stuck in the debug zone, I logged out and tried a different server. This time I spawned on the southern coast, but still had no inventory, backpack, or even any of the starter items. However, it had saved my kill stats, blood level, food level, etc. as if I hadn't died. I was almost immediately killed by a zed that took one swipe at me because I had no bandages and consequently bled to death. After dying I respawned normally on the coast with the proper starter items. On a sliver of hope I logged onto the server where I had bugged out. This time I was able to log in normally. I hoofed it north and after an hour of running (and a detour through a town to grab some beans) I managed to return to where I had been right before I bugged out. Luckily, I found my corpse laying there and was able to retrieve my items. I was pretty damn happy given that I was almost fully geared. Basically, all I can say to anyone unfortunate enough to have this happen to them is to try and return to where you died. If you're lucky, your body will be there waiting with your gear. If not...well there's probably an Enfield in the barn over there. Dayz Alpha is the worst best game ever. All these bugs are killing me (literally), and sometimes this game really makes me want to pull my hair out, but I still love it. At least I had an adventure getting back to my body. When: 8/15/2012 Version: 1.7.2.5/95883 I log in using DayZ Commander
