    Well. That Death Was Stupid!

I never believed that a "full version" or beta of of Day Z would ever come out on ARMA 2. I think this really is a more of a testing ground for future engines.
  2. ARMA 2 keys are being sold at as low as $2 a piece, a handful keys are cheaper than the paid cheating subscription. Bans are pretty useless. It's neither preventing nor deterring future hacking sufficiently.

    hacking is rampant

That's precisely why hackers have bypasses, the effect of which is that most scripts don't show up in the logs. Even if you are an extremely diligent admin, and even if you know what you should be looking for, chances are you can only ban people who spawned vehicles or nuked servers. Although admins can track players' movement on a server and detect teleportation, it's not always the hacker who teleports, sometimes it's an Innocent player being teleported by the hacker. You are making the solution sound too simple. Most admins literally have very little they can do.

    hacking is rampant

Password your server, screw public hive and go private hive. Get anti-hacking scripts running on your private hive server, give out passwords to trustworthy communities (i.e. not here).

    oh so tempting

A portion of that million unique players are probably multiple copies of the game bought by hackers so that they get to survive multiple bans.

What video settings do you use in game?

I can't max the game out with my GTX680, but then again I'm not running at 1080p either. To ensure a constant 60fps smooth gameplay in all environments, I have to lower my settings to: 2k draw distance, High everything, except HDR and HDR which are maxed out, and post-processing which is sitting at Normal. 2560x1440 resolution, which is a huge drain on performance. If I max everything out then I should still be fine in most areas, but if I ever run into very large zombie hordes (20-30), then I'll be seeing some lag down to 30 fps.
  7. In all modern jurisdictions, murder is regarded as a more heinous crime than theft, and as a consequence murder imposes much harsher punishments. In a game where shooting-on-sight is the absolute norm, and murder count a symbol for glory, theft really has little place.

    its not that bad!

There is always the fourth possibility - genuinely stupid.
  9. You sure sound defensive. How would I even know that this "NL 11" is not public hive?

What weapon loadout do you have? (Hi-Tech)

By M4A3 you meant M4A1 right? There isn't a legit SD version of M4A3 in Day Z. L85A2 is quite poor for sniping due to its short effective range, it's technically just another assault rifle.

    its not that bad!

You only encountered one hacker, therefore hacking is not too bad of a problem for the rest of the population. Sound logic there.
  12. According to the wiki, there can only be one offroad pickup truck per server.

    Tent Eating

Sometimes it's not the server. Hackers have a script which wipes out all the tents on a server, kinda like a nuke only for tents.

    anz 03 hacker 11:19am 7/8/2012

In terms of hacking population: On3 NZ servers > Orcon NZ servers > ANZ servers > AUSARMA ANZ servers. AUSARMA have some of the best anti-hack in the oceanic region.
  15. Those aren't players. That guy is a hacker, and those other people around him were NPC guards the hacker has spawned.

Poll: Should Barbed wire be removed?

Sometimes your bones will break as a result. It's rather rare, but it happens.
  17. Compared to Bizon: MP5SD Pros - Higher damage - Slightly better scope - The most silent gun in the game (excluding non-guns) - Ammo is less rare Cons - Smaller clip M4A1 CCO SD Pros - Much higher damage - Ammo is everywhere - Very good scope Cons - Smaller clip - Not fully silent. Won't alert zombies in most cases, but easily audible to players within 50m.

Poll: Should Barbed wire be removed?

Or at least make removing them easier. Even with a toolbox it's often very difficult or in some cases impossible to remove wires/sandbags due to targeting issues.

    Thoughts On Green Mountain?

So, Green Mountain is the Hacker Mountain?
  20. Elenkel

    That Color Mountain...

I make camp at Green Mountain.
  21. It sounds like a hacker to me. The hacker had godmode on, so any hits you made were pointless. However some hackers are trying to be very discrete. They'll act as if the shot dealt damage, and won't put themselves into a position where they get shot too many times to legitimately survive. Your second problem, when your gun froze, can also be caused by a hacker. Hackers have a script which locks all your controls. Most players who run into this ignorantly consider it a game bug. Next time anyone realises that their guns are working in a firefight should simply Alt+F4. It's dirty, but it's the lesser evil than giving a hacker his satisfaction.

    Invisible but bleeding

Very dumb move. You should have Alt+F4ed. Hackers can still bleed even with godmode on. It doesn't take away health, but the animation still shows up and gives away their position while they are invisible.

    Randomly getting amazing gear?

Yes, that's a hacker script, and it can be applied to an entire server. Now everyone on that server has identical gear. You get to keep your gear, for better or worse.
  24. That's unrelated. "George Smith" is the name of Alt+F4 heroes everywhere. When a player Alt+F4s, for a brief second his name is changed to George Smith, and if you kill him within this time quickly enough then you may get the Alt+F4 player's gear, and "George Smith has died" will show up as a message. It may be possible that "George Smith" is also the placeholder for players who are in the process of logging in.

    Why destroy tents?

The same reason people kill unarmed players and nuke servers: griefing. Some people simply enjoy causing grief.
