You DEFINITELY have the 'official hive' option selected in DZC ? There are more unofficial Chernarus hives than official ones nowadays, and it's easy to mistakenly connect to the wrong kind.

I often have this problem too. Other threads have said you need to copy the contents of your addons folder to your expansion/addons folder (for me this meant duplicating an extra 8.1gb of files !). Other threads say you need to update your Arma 2 Beta to the latest version, or to one specific to the server you want to connect to.

Holy crap ! I didn't know this. I'm ashamed to ask this, but are you saying that going under a tree makes you invisible to zombies ? Do you have to prone, or crouch, or doesn't it matter ?

Seems the lack of DZC support has killed this awesome map, I couldn't find a single server at all, not even one with 10,000 ping.

I started getting the following errors when trying to log onto a Dayzland.eu version of Taviana I tried copying the DayZ Taviana BIKEY from https://github.com/ayan4m1/DayZ-Private/blob/master/util/deploy/Keys/DayZTaviana.bikey but got the same message.

Are you trying to connect through Arma 2's clunky 'Multiplayer' menu ? Or are you more sensibly; using DayZ Commander ?

Has server x decided to start blocking users geographically ? That's the kind of message you might get if they did - after all they can hardly put up the message "***k off you Asian bast**d" - although it amounts to much the same thing.

Some servers for whatever reason give you a really high BANDWIDTH reading - press "P" ingame and see what your bandwidth is ? Ideally it should be below 100, but over 500 - 1000 will cause the problems you mention. In these cases it is an issue with the server and not your computer.

I played Celle in 1.7.3 (because that is what my favourite Celle server is running), and as they are all custom private hives I require a specific server. When I go back to it (via DZC), the entire game GPF's when it loads the lobby. I had this before with other Celle servers and figured it was one of the many Celle bugs, so have tried it again and got it. But on this particular server it GPF's every time. Is it an issue of that specific Celle server ? Or something that can be remedied at my end ?

Hmmm, for me it is ALL Celle servers on all versions of Dayz. The only thing that changed since my last successful access was the new Battleye update.

Since Rocket decided to completely disable the SINGLEPLAYER menu option, obviously I can no longer get to the Armory to explore a new map by myself. Is there any way to get around this limitation ? I tried 1.7.3, still disabled, and it didn't even load with 1.7.2.6 I can;t play online at the moment, because there are only 2 Taviana servers within my PING range, and they are both running outdated versions of A2 Beta. Does anyone know of a way where I can explore the map at my leisure ? EDIT:- Also, whenever I have managed to catch a compatible server, it always says "You are running the wrong version of DayZ code - you are runnung 1.7.4 and the server is running 1.1.0". What does THAT mean ?! 1.1.0 is the version of Taviana not Dayz. What's that all about ?

I love private hives and their custom maps, but I vaguely remember Rocket said he would allow them as long as they don't change his vision of the mod. Nowadays we can find private hives offering 500+ vehicles, fully repaired vehicles, "epic bases", custom load outs, new weapon sets, and all sorts of other things that completely change his original vision. These seem a million miles from the survivor lost on a beach with meagre supplies, not to mention that Rocket's vehicles must all be repaired from scratch, offering a sense of achievement if and when you finally accomplish this. Now I can go to a custom hive and jump straight into a fully working gunship, or go to Celle and find an MK48 Mod 0 in a barracks with copious ammo. The mod and hive community seems to have overtaken Rocket and implemented all sorts of fantastic things. The way it's going they're probably going to end up putting in alot of the same and/or better features than the standalone will have. With all this, there is no reason to go to Rocket's Chernarus - unless they are custom Chernarus hives that offer all of the aforementioned.

You could have just cut and pasted the command switch override parameters into your post - that would have been more helpful than posting a Youtube video, which of course you get paid for by Google for every x visits.

How is the player altered to when the event will occur ? Is there a countdown clock on screen at all times ? When you say 'seek shelter', do you mean you can just go inside ANY building to be protected from it ? I wish you would add more residential spawns to the map too. There is often only enough food to make the trip from Vorkuta to Object A2 and back - nowhere else on the map is worth visiting unless you have the EXTREMELY rare Warm Clothes or Antibiotics - which you now want to make EVEN rarer. Animals are really, really, really rare too. There needs to be balance between 'realism' and the 'fun' of playing the map, a simple thing such as not enough food means your options are limited from the off. And the Eastern side of the island is ripe for redevelopment. At the moment, all the space is virtually unused, and is a collosal pain in the ass to have to visit just to get medical supplies. The area east of Vorkuta feels pointless too, as there is nothing there that you can't get elsewhere. And the temperature system still doesn't work when you go inside. Wood is pretty hard to find too because the forest areas don't seem often to be recognized correctly by DayZ as been exploitable. I have to say also Sumrak that you are damn design GENIUS, and BIS should offer you a fulltime job working for them.

The map files are 404. Any chance of a re-up ?

Taviana is twice as big as Chernarus ? I have to try this map ! It must be immense ! Icebreakr's maps - Lingor, Panthera - have that ridiculous bug with the single doors in his new barrack huts being too small for the player to fit through unless he goes prone !! The people are much friendlier on Lingor, Panthera, Namalsk etc due to there being no shortage of resources or vehicles to compete over. I wish Namalsk was bigger too. And had more food or animals to kill. Otherwise you only have enough food to get from Vorkuta to Object AII and back repeatedly. And the Eastern side of the island needs developing more as it is empty save for a hospital and supermarket. But if you look at the new features for Namalsk 0.70 (http://mydayz.de/en/dayz-news/209-dayz-namalsk-0-70-preview you realize how inventive Sumrak is. He is way ahead of Rocket at implementing things like temperature, breath, and other survival features.

There are numerous servers that are present with "NOCD" in the title (especially in China and the Far-East). Are these servers that cater to people with illegal copies of the game ? If so, I hope BIS can shut them down.

So, will there possibly be in the Standalone - surgical gloves, face mask, water purification kit etc as new in-game items to negate the above infection routes mentioned above ?

I'm hoping that the thing with the zombies NOT being able to run inside buildings will NEVER be fixed. A player needs some respite somewhere, those extra few seconds to evaluate whether to run through the opposite door or dish out hot lead justice are invaluable. With Zombies able to run everywhere there would simply be no respite and no prospect of survival under any circumstances.

I just picked up a WORKING GPS from one of the high value Army Towers. It works same as Chernarus GPS - RCTRL M. I wonder if the maker has added working NV as well ?

If there isn't one already, could the mods, and/or those who know about these things, get together and make a sticky post listing every available unofficial map - complete with download links and links to the maker's information pages (all in POST #1 of the thread). There seems to be so many new maps coming out these days, and it would be great if we had one central place where we can go to to find out if there's something new released, what it's details are, and where we can download it from.

The Single Player is terrifying ! Especially if you play it BEFORE you have played DayZ Namalsk AND have the A.C. turned on really high so you get goosebumps ! Those [not going to spoil it with a spoiler] that attack you are the scariest things you will ever see in an Arma 2 mod.

I agree. Namalsk is a beautiful piece of work. SUMRAK is a design genius ! He has made DayZ fun again. Bohemia should offer him a full-time job working for them.

In INSTALL/UPDATE, does it say that Namalsk in installed ? If so, what exact problem is it you encounter when trying to connect ?
