    Bandit skin is awesome

    - Is bandit skin implemented yet? - What if you wear a Ghillie? - Do you get negative humanity if you kill a bandit?
  2. DieBrotmafia

    Question on humanity

Humanity was always there, just not visible. I don't think there will be a real bandit skin, rather something like scars or so. IMO the benefit of bandit will outweight the cons.

    Global Bans for legit players?

Just interested (I'm not banned I think, didn't log in though), is it true that a hacker can spoof ones GUID and then can use that GUID to hack? Will this GUID then get banned instead that of the hacker? I read something like that a few pages back, what is up with that? I also read a thread long time ago about people using the GUID of other people and then playing as them.
  4. You can tell them that you will give them whatever, they can not know that ultimately you won't shoot them in the end or you have friends behind you that will shoot them as soon as they pick stuff up. What you are doing might even work 50% of the time but the other 50% it might not. If you had a 50% chance of dying every time you cross the road would you still cross it? Stay away from people in this game, sooner or later you will die.

    So criticism not allowed here?

I've got no problem with this. You remember Counterstrike? Started as a free mod. Then it became a "Full" Version with 1.6 that you paid for. Then a new full Version with Source to pay for. Is it any problem? No. People still play 1.6. You don't grasp that as soon as there is money involved, there is also more Resources to be spend and Rocket will probably get much more support from BI. This will make for a much better game. Without money this isn't always possible. Arma 2 is a good game with lots of mods, if you just bought it for DayZ (like I did) and now complain no one can help you. I spend more time on DayZ already then on lots of other games that I bought so for me its already worth it. If you just buy games that you know will exist for several years and you expected any promise that this will happen with an alpha mod then you're pretty delusional, most mods in general will just stop existing and are never completed. Next time think before buying a game.
  7. I hope he sticks to the same map or something similar, that new Arma 3 map hasn't got enough forests and too many dry lands imo...
  8. Came here expecting retarded thread, thread actually delivered... Pleasant surprise.

Being bandit = easy difficulty gaming

Survivor is not really about difficulty, its about playing russian roulette. Its like playing a game where in every new level you have a 50% chance of starting from the beginning without you having any influence on it. This isn't difficulty, its luck. Difficult is something that you can still influence. You saying friendly and getting a headshot or not based on chance isn't difficult.

Make Dayz Harder! Part B: Zombies

I'd do three things: - Improve pathing so they run in a direct line towards you - Make them run in buildings - Implement some system so they have a chance of hitting you while you run Would make everythin much more realistic and much harder, especially the last one

    Stop trying to make DayZ...

I would like some zombie "hordes" roaming around chernarus in general, also walking through the woods etc... Not that it should happen often, it should be a very rare occasion, but could happen. Would give you less of that safe feeling in forests.

    What gear do you rock?

DMR, M1911, ghillie, lots of water and meat. I don't like the time pressure to constantly stay around food cause I only have 2 of each with me. GPS, Map, Compass, Knife, Matches, Bandages, Morphine, Painkillers and all of the typical stuff... Only thing missing would be rangefinder and night vision.

    DayZ Gone Dark?

You refer to the forum or to the players in last 24 hours? Cause the latter is pretty much constant. Though the huge increase of people playing the game seems to have gone down somewhat, not entirely sure though. It looks rather constant now. It may also be that there are simply more servers, resulting in less players / server.

    DMR vs AK-74

AK is useful in short range, but if you play on servers with crosshair (I don't) then DMR is very good as well. Shooting with the DMR without zoom if you have a crosshair is very accurate up to 400 meters or so you hit your target without any zeroing and you have a pretty fast rate of fire. For zombies you usually use your pistol anyway. So I'd say on a crosshair server theres no reason to ever take the AK, not even in the backpack, cause the DMR is actually decent for short distances as well. Without crosshair the AK in the backpack might be worth it if the enemy is close, I'd still prefer the DMR though. As you're asking the question, do you know how to "zero" with the DMR? For people who don't know how to use the DMR the AK is obviously easier to use as well. If you run into cherno / electro etc... in the game and that is your playstyle (you likely won't survive long) take the AK. If you play like most people play in the endgame, stay out of the cities as much as possible, shoot from a distance and scout a lot then theres not even a question about taking the DMR.

    Day z VS Warz SPEEDART

Your question was what "is" better. I think with "is" you refer to the present. DayZ refers to a game in its Alpha Stage. WarZ refers to some screenshots, as there is no game anyone could play yet. If you were to ask what will be better in the future, DayZ supposed standalone on Arma 3 engine vs WarZ, to me DayZ will clearly win. Nice photoshop work by the way.
  16. I could not imagine DayZ on any other engine that I've seen to now. Arma Engine is just perfect for this, huuuuge, realistic looking maps, real time, realistic weather effects, all this adds a tremendous amount to the atmosphere. The atmosphere is the most important thing in a game where you mostly run around and only have some few encounters every few hours or so. If you answered with yes, please care to tell us which engine you could think about.

    Day z VS Warz SPEEDART

How can some rendered screenshots even be compared to a playable game?

    1.7.2.5 Anyone heard from devs?

Would be cool if there would be some transparent communication about how things are going. I mean this is happening (look at 1.7.2.5 thread) but now its a week or so since I last heard about something. Some time ago I thought yes its Rockets mod, its free, he doesn't owe us anything. But after all, I guess Rocket ultimately will want to make this a standalone game and make some money with it, at least thats what I would do. He needs us as alpha testers as well as we need him to develop the game, so I feel that as we report bugs, he should try to give us something about the current state of the game. 5 days over the target date without a quick message isn't really nice to the community, I'd like to know if and when this game will improve and how things are going if I'm about to invest my time in it as well.
  19. Seriously guys, what is this obvious WarZ advertising thats going on lately? Lots and lots of new posters with close to zero posts comming up talking about WarZ. Its ridiculous and everyone who has a bit of experience can see right through this bullshit, you guys need to disguise yourselves better if you want to run some hidden ads. Creating new accounts, making 4 posts and talking about WarZ in most of them isn't exactly smart. Proposing a game as an alternative where there is no information about its quality except some rendered "screenshots" is ludicrous. Especially comparing DayZ in its current state to what WarZ COULD eventually become in half a year if every promise of its marketing department would come true. Thats dishonest. If I'm getting this wrong and you aren't one of these guys, excuse me. Its obvious there were several accounts with the same IP promoting this shit though, so I may have become a bit overeager regarding this. Now on topic: I have never been hacked or saw a hacker. Maybe in german servers its not as common, I don't know. There was an incident some days ago where I was unsure if it were hackers. People roaming through the woods with a car trying to kill us, looking like they knew where we are. But its pretty uncertain if these were hackers. Other then that, I had no problems. I also hope Battle Eye will fix the issues and huge amounts of bans will be coming soon. So I'm all for talking about this issue. I guess with a lot of things we might need to wait till there is a standalone version where Rocket has access to the Arma 3 engine but who knows. Maybe Battle Eye still collects data before the new ban waves.

    Sniping!

I wrote the shoulder width / head width of people at different ranges to estimate distance with the CZ 550
  21. I'm playing DayZ since > a month, I would love to play together with someone... You should know the basics of DayZ and you should be able to speak german or english. I play on DE / EU servers though, as on the other servers I don't really like the ping. Would be nice if you have a mic as well of course. Just send me a quick message or reply in this thread so we can team up.

Going to buy a PC to play this - help please

First, building a pc is far easier then you imagine. Everyone can do it. As far as I know there are some hardware stores, at least I know a german one, that build your pc for 20$. So you can choose all the parts you want and they will build it for you instead of just sending you the parts. I'm sure there is such an online store in the UK, if someone could name one we could give you a decent one. Thing is, you can buy cheap pcs like that, they try to impress you with their numbers on how much GHZ they have and so on... But most of the time, the parts people don't know about as much like the mainboard, power supply and so on are cheap shit that I would not trust or use and you oftentimes have some bottleneck that could be chosen more efficient if you build it yourself / let the hardware store build it for you for 20$.
  23. I thought I heard in an interview Rocket wanted to introduce the ability to build bases. Together with your points this might make the game more interesting. Maybe add a few zombie hoards that roam the world to make everything more interesting outside of the cities.

I Met a Friend in Elektro

Last time I teamed up with someone he was unarmed.. I helped him, gave him my 1911, we looked for more loot. We played the game for like an hour and were becoming a team. Then he shot me. You can't trust anyone in this game that isn't in your clan / that you know from somewhere outside of the game itself. Even if some people are friendly, if every third person is a bandit your choice of being friendly will kill you. Maybe not in your first encounter but after a day of playing friendly you will be dead sooner or later. Its like rolling the dice and if 1-3 comes up you're dead, may work several times but ultimately you can't beat the odds. If you want to survive longer then a day ignore other people and shoot on sight if they get too close.
  25. An example: I don't know what these 3% is. I'll just go with the alive characters. I'll just make some assumptions. These assumptions are most likely true, just the exact numbers are total speculation. This will show you how much you can "trust" these statistics though. The only real statistic would be people who shoot at player encounter if they are in range, spotted the other person and have a weapon. I'll start with 16% (current statistic). People who die before they meet another player or haven't found another player yet: Probably 70% at a survival time of only 40 minutes and a map of 200 square kilometers and usually 30 players on the server. So if you had 100% bandits, 70% couldn't prove they are and you would be at a statistic rate of banditry of only 30%. The other 70% would have killed but were not able to. So this makes our 16% go to 16* (100/30)=53,28%. Now lets factor in people that are in a clan and don't kill because they are at their camp... Or people that don't kill on sight because they're scared they get shot themselves, but that would definitly kill you if you were to group up as soon as they get a clear shot... And so on. Even with only a 3% "statistical" bandit rate, if you were to say that only 10% of people get a weapon and see a player in range before they die (mind only 40 minute survival rate and lots of noobs), you would be at 30% "real" bandit rate. Now factor in the assumption that bandits are more experienced players (I became a bandit after several attempts) and play more compared to the average noob. Your chance of encountering a bandit becomes higher because he spends more time in the game. Can easily increase the rate from 30% to 50%. This leads us from 3% to 50%. But thats really speculation. I believe this might be true though, because current alive bandits / current alive players total is much higher then total bandits / total survival attempts, implying bandits stay alive much longer and are thus probably more experienced players that spend more time as well. These statistics the way they are just don't tell you anything. The real number of your chance encountering a bandit if you see a bandit can be anything from 3% to 70% if you were to control for some variables like i just showed with some examples. Only statistic useful would be player encounters, having seen someone with a weapon and the correct range, not from the same clan and not shooting even if you were to team up and get the possibility of a kill without risk involved. This would show you how well you can team up or how much its the opposite of a deathmatch.
