No Pepsi, Coca-Cola or Heinz in standalone
Draxx (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This will never happen! The evil curse of Mountain Dew'ness will prevail. Even if you try to rename the cans - inside it is filled with tasty Dew and deadly curse. Beware of it - you will never stay alive with Dew in your vicinity! We are all DOOMED! *runsScreamingAway* -
DayZ - What we hear a lot

That damn tree broke my legs! The door hit me and....broke my leg! Runnin' over that tiny rock and the result: a broken leg! Whaaaa - got my legs broken! -
Where is your DayZ "home"?
Draxx (DayZ) replied to zython (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Check my "location" :) -
If you were the target of an experienced sniper - you would be dead. Either doubletap with a medium powered rifle (like a DMR or M24) or one hit by a .50cal - you would not survive. You had luck that the so-called "sniper" seemed to have no idea what zeroing is or he was just a bad shot.

How to get better at gun fights.
Draxx (DayZ) replied to WhileOnTarget's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First off: ArmA2 is completely different regarding the playstyle compared to other common shooters (like BF, CoD etc...) Here you have TIME! No need to shoot instantly if you see an enemy in 300m distance. Take your time to check if the opponent has noticed you. Where is he heading? Is there a possibility of ambushing him on his way? What kind of weapon (and scope) do you use at that moment? If you encounter an enemy with a sniper rifle for example: Most snipers are lying in their cover for quiet a long time. So sneak upon them - they are shooting regularly so you can estimate his position. Come from the back and if you get nearer move only by rolling on the floor or softly tipping your forward key. With this technique you can't be heared by your footsteps. Then you can get him with his pants down. If someone is running around, try to get a sure shot on him. I only shoot if I am 100% certain that my enemy does not get away! Either you ambush him in CQC or you see him on a open field where he cannot flee fast. For training - play Wasteland. You do not need to download it. Just search in the inGame browser for "wasteland". There you have the same feeling as in DayZ, but you can equip yourself pretty fast in case of death. It is pure pvp and great for combat training in this environment. -
Interested in buying Arma II (and hence DayZ)
Draxx (DayZ) replied to andrestor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can really say I did not regret a single day since I have buyed ArmA2:CO. First of all: DayZ. Yes, there are hackers, yes there are bugs - but overall on a good server with active admins you can play very good. (If you want to be sure to get on a secure server go and get yourself whitelisted) Arma2 in gerneral: I think it is the most underrated game of the last years. There are so many mods who are really good. I could recommend Wasteland or Takistan Life Revolution. So if you do not want to wait for the standalone (realease maybe April?) just get ArmA2:CO. It is not very expensive and you'll have a balst of a time with it. As well as you support Bohemia. Quiet good reasons, I would say :) -
Guess the Person's play style above you :)

Trivius tries to get the hero skin so badly, that he runs around in Elektro and tries to bloodbag even the Zombies ^^ Favourite weapon: Bloodbag -
Survivor, stop yelling "Friendly friendly" when im aiming at you!
Draxx (DayZ) replied to grimsonfart's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I got you in my scope - you will realize that I am pointing at you when my bullet hits you. You even have not a single chance to yell "friendly" or something like that. It just hits you and you are dead. But do not blame it on us snipers. It is the fault of the community. You ran into my scope - so do not cry about snipers. It is just your fault :P Keep surviving mates, avoid me and eat beans ... or you eat my .50cal bullets -
What is Your First Instinctive Reaction When Spotting a Player?
Draxx (DayZ) replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I see a player: First my heart starts pumping like hell - I never experienced this kind of reaction in a FPS. If the player is geared with more than a handgun, he is considered as an enemy and I will kill him. If the player has no weapon (handguns and hatchets are considered as "no weapon") I stay hidden and let him go. I do not care if someone has a bandit or hero skin. I am the sniper of my squad, so I am normally marked as a bandit and I do not kill players just for fun (That is what I do in Wasteland ^^). I have already seen hero skins who are acting like real bandits. If they kill someone they fix up their humanity by giving a lot of blood transfusions to their friends. -
Giving up, to much stupidity.
Draxx (DayZ) replied to schrapple's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, he even did survive - the other guy died! That is even more hilarious! :D He ragequitted just because of the noob who tried to attack him with an hatchet. Best ragequit ev0r. lawl I wonder what would have happened if he gets sniped over a mile, or if he runs into a group of bandits fully geared and he has only his dinnerbell. Or he is tricked by a player by screaming "friendly, friendly" and gets shot in the back.....so many funny scenarios, where you could see an option for a ragequit...but his story is ridicoulus. /facepalm -
So what are your plans for Standalone

v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]
Draxx (DayZ) replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Completely right OFC_Bill! Thank you. Like Bill said, you missed the point. I am NOT a noob killer - but I wanted to point out, that these changes would be too drastic and that this kind of change will surely not help to force players to help each other. I think this idea will backfire and the people will kill themselves more than we see it now. If you need food and it regains that less blood, your matches run out, and so on. You need more of everything and where is it the easiest way to get that? You kill fresh spawns because the first thing they usually find is food, matches, knives...in the general stores. So the player killers do not have to go into the cities and get themselv in danger. They sit in a secure spot with an M24 and kill without danger. Boom - one noob down, matches or food secured. Especially for lone wolves or players who look first time into the game will be very dissapointed. When you start a game - you mostly will start for yourself. And if you have that kind of problems directly in the beginning - it is a fail. No one would say to his friends: wohoo that is a cool game, lets play together. For a beginner is this game already hard. A good player with a lot of experience could have fun with it, but the majority will be pissed. To sum it up: I do not think that these changes are a good idea. There should be another way to make the players help each other. That is just my opinion. Think about it. -
v175 beta: meat issues [solved] [old]
Draxx (DayZ) replied to Dayzo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have another solution - I kill more players, because I get their beanZ, their matches and so on. If that is what intended to be - I am ok with it. If the devs like the KoS mentality, they support it with this kind of changing the game. I think they did not thought about these changes. If I am not able to heal myself up or to get enough to eat, I will take what I need. And a fresh spawn without weapons has mostly some beanz with him. Why the heck should I talk to him? I need healing and the easymode way is to put a bullet in his head, take the food, heal up. If it is not enough, I get another player......and it goes on and on.... -
Giving up, to much stupidity.
Draxx (DayZ) replied to schrapple's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok - you are ragequitting the game because of a noob who has no clue? I am not sure if this is a troll attempt. To sum up: You had a gun, the other had no gun. He tried to hatchet you, but it did not work out and you put a bullet into his head. Now you are quitting because of that? Seriously? Either you have a menstrual disturbance or you do not have experience in online games. A lot of players do not understand what they are doing. But to quit a game because of ONE player who annoyed you is, sorry for that, ridiculous! Then you should focus on single player games. If you can handle the idiots, the hackers and the bugs you are ready to play online. There are a lot of players out there who react in a mature way - as well as there are enough players who act like retarded kiddies. (It has nothing to do with the age of the player!) Just think about it ;) -
Things to do while waiting for Standalone

Wasteland is the way to go :) and Planetside2...... And I try to figure out how to reload a hatchet in real life. -
You're playing too much Dayz if...
Draxx (DayZ) replied to Vanz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
...when you empty your room on the streets and wait for the respawn in front of your house. If a curious neighbor asks - just mumble something about "lootpile, n00b!" -
Example from "The Walking Dead" tv series: I am sure that the army guys which were killed by the governor also cried about that damn pvp. Especially that the governor approached them with a white flag and then they ambushed them. Soooo unfair. Why did they not talk to each others and eat tasty beanZ? Q.Q That is exact the problem: some players want to sit in the land shooting dumb zombies and make fireplaces. Other players want to kill other players. Every playstyle is ok - but crying about pvp is pointless in a game with no pve content. If you do not like to get killed by a murderous psycho, then I have to assume this game is not the right thing for you. I would say that approximately 95% of the players are psycho - and sociopaths - deal with it. I like this immerse aspect. That is the only real danger in that world. If you do not have any pvp action this game would be extremely boring. 400 zombie kills....LOL. If I had enough ammo I could kill thousands of them. They are no challenge. What should be done when you have decent weapons, a car and maybe a heli? Flying in circles round the map? Killing those lame zombies? Making steaks on fireplaces? Wohooo. DayZ = PvP!!!

How long do you play on each map?
Draxx (DayZ) replied to Anyx7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tries also every new map. But I have favourites and I stay on them. I love Chernarus and Celle. The other maps are okay, but I played them only a short time (maybe a week). My favourites are played all the time :) -
I can completely feel what you've meant, OP. I had the same learning in the beginning. I tried to be the nice guy. But after several slugs, bullets, arrows and axes buried into my face I learned to be cautious. VERY cautious! If I see a survivor, I first watch the guy. I will not come out and talk to him. And if I think he will not attack, I try my luck. But in general the people are attacking on sight - even if they have a double-barrel and I have an automatic rifle. So I became a bandit after a while. If someone has a gun bigger than a makarov I kill them instantly. And, just a last tipp, stay always cautious EVEN if the guy in front of you says that he is friendly. Do not trust anyone. (Sounds hard and sad, but it will help you^^) On the other hand: As soon as you find your first fav weapon (a sniper? Or a huge machinegun) or your first Ghillie suit - it is a huge amount of fun (as well as the fun is increasing, your paranoic level increases too ;) ). I wish you a lot of fun in DayZ! And something else very important: Do NOT get attached to your gear.

What's your longest survival time?

Killed By Hacker - Lost Best Kit Possible
Draxx (DayZ) replied to Smax's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Like you said: You was on your way to Elektro to snipe it. What exactly did you want to snipe in elektro with an L85 and a SVD? Killing bambis? Shooting Zeds? C'mon, with that nice high end gear you should fight against real opponents and not some fresh spawns with Enfields and Hatchets. But to be honest, I like guys like you. I run around the sniper positions of Elektro and Cherno, kill those sniping basterds and get their shiny gear. ^^ But to be completely honest, you did not deserve more than the hacker attack. So you can get the same feeling as your prey when you shoot someone over a mile in Elektro. -
I also thought it was gone - but it happened yesterday. The guy was hit once by a M24 shot (I saw the blood) - the guy was leaving the game after this first hit. The best looking sniper rifle is the SVD Camo in my eyes. With this nice camouflage - it is just beautiful. Remove the .50 cals from the game? I would say clearly NO. You need it to stop vehicles and just to put in some realism - these weapons are used in actual conflicts also against soft targets. So they are legit and they hurt! Let them in the game. If someone gets shot over and over by snipers, it is not the problem of the weapon or the bandits - it is the problem of the player. During my entire playtime in DayZ I was shot 2 times by a sniper. People just have to learn how to move through sniper-controlled areas. If you get shot all the time YOU are doing something terribly wrong and you should think about your movement tactics.
-
The M24 is a great weapon. But I use the .50 cals until there is no option anymore to combat log. It happened to a clan member of me yesterday: He shot a guy with his M24 and the guy did not die, but combat logged. My clan member was pissed the whole evening ^^. If you use a .50 cal the enemy cannot log out - thats why I use them. As soon as this cowardly tactic is no longer useable I switch immediately back to the M24 / SVD.

Will DayZ Stadalone Survive ?
Draxx (DayZ) replied to iorewtq's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am sure DayZ standalone will be a success. 1.) If the hackers have a hard time and the anti cheat software is good. 2.) The performance of the game will be increased, so older rigs can play it also with a good frame rate. 3.) Chernarus Plus has a lot more enterable buildings 4.) There will be an endgame and crafting These points will bring a lot of players back who abandoned the game right now. This game has something special and players recognize it. When the hacking problem is solved, the main problem is gone. And I am sure in the standalone this issue will be gone. WarZ is not worth to mention. That game will never be a real competitor for DayZ. Just try this game for yourself and you will know what I mean.
