Hey guys. Just wondering something here. I see threads of people claiming to update battle eye to 1.169 and my server keeps repeating "failed to update -- Could not connect to BE master". After a restart i'm still getting it and battleye.com says the latest version is 1.157 which is what i already have. I know 1.169 is the client version; but I was wondering if there was a new server version since i keep getting the failed to update error. Also, does battle eye normally update its self? Does it require a serve restart? Thanks for the assistance

No i do not, I have one dedicated box for one server (the whole box, not just a VPS).

Ah, so it sound like your be version is limited based on what Arma version you're running? Since my server is still running 95885 I'll try updating the arma version.

Incident happened on US 2524 Happened at GMT=-6 -- One Incident at 6:49pm, another one at 7:04pm What happened: I was at work while it happened (Still am). Player population on my server was 24, I noticed it declining steadily. I asked a player who was currently in game what was happening and he said a player was teleporting around killing people. It looked like he spawned a vehicle at 6:49, at 6:56 or so is when he started killing players. It didn't get logged until 7:03. Look in "remoteexec.log" in your battleeye folder and you should be able to see the players name, id, and IP.

I forgot what topic it's in, you can find it in the "Rocket AMA" stickied thread about hacking. He stated that if you're found to be holding a hacked item that's in Arma2 but not Dayz, even if you did not hack it in, you can and will most likely be banned.

Remeber what i said about Intel fanboys? Here's one. I stated that Intel was better, but not for price/performance. the FX-4100 is $110 USD and the I7 is $300 USD for the sandy bridge and $350 USD for the Ivy bridge. Read what I wrote instead of being ignorant. And yes, for $110 the FX-4100 is incredibly good. I never said that AMD was better, you just fail at reading comprehension. Currently Nvidia is falling behind AMD because AMD can now push out equal to better video cards for a cheaper price. Don't get me wrong though, I prefer Nivida over AMD. Although for processor I will always go with AMD over Intel until Intel decides to chill out with their socket changes and over priced hardware. Stop being a fanboy and read up.

I already stated the cards are similar but the 550ti is better because you can utilize DX11 where the the gtx 260 is only DX10.1. The 550ti is better at larger resolutions too. The GTX 260 is not even in production anymore unlike the 550ti I'm not here to argue which card is better. If i were to recommend a card i would recommend the 6950 for AMD or the 560ti for Nvidia. But those cards are currently sitting around $250 USD depending on the manufacturer.

Well I can't direct you to where the sound file is located, maybe serach for "fly, flies, dead" might let you find it, you should be able to open the file and listen to it to make sure it's the right file. Once you locate the file make a text document with the exact same name as the audio file. Make sure you have file extensions on (I'm going to assume the audio files are .mp3, but they could be something else). Once you have your text file made and file extensions on, delete the audio file and replace the ".txt" at the end of the text file with ".mp3". Or whatever the audio file sound ended with. Omitt any quotes. So it should look something like this "dead_players_flies.txt" which would turn into "dead_players_flies.mp3"

The issue is that your current motherboard is limited to older hardware. You can't use DDR3 ram which is cheap as dirt, you can't get better processors as Mega_Death has stated (Actually, you could get a Q8300 which is around the same class) I have personally ran Day Z on my Q8300 processor in my spare coputer with my extra gtx 260 and pull out with about 50 FPS on High settings using that optimization guide floating around here on the forums. The problem is the q8300 is discontinued as all LGA 775 processors are. So keep your eyes open if this is the route you want to take. Alternatively you can get a computer (I assume you're buying pre built) that uses amd. Just make sure the motherboard can handle AM3+ (Socket Type) and any board that uses the AM3+ socket uses DDR3 memory. Then you can buy whatever video card you want for it. Some people will laugh at you for buying an AMD processor (Mainly Intel fan boys) but that's just because AMD got a bad rap with there Athlon x2 line of processors. Now it's really the only option unless you have a LOAD of money to spend on Intel. As of right now, price/performance AMD is miles ahead of intel. It's really not worth it anymore to go with intel. Not to mention Intel releases a new socket for almsot every processor now so if you buy intel your stuck not being able to upgrade. Make sure the processor is a quad core, the FX-4100 comes into mind - It's a really good buy) and buy your own ram clocked at 1600mhz in dual channel. Edit: Also if you're going to go with the new computer route, go with the 6870 If you're going to buy Nvidia cards make sure to only get one from (From best to worst): EVGA, MSI, Gigabyte Alternatively if you're going to buy AMD make sure to buy from (Best to worst): Sapphire, XFX, HIS Ram manufacturers (Best to worst): Corsair, Kingston, Crucial, Patriot The 550ti performs close to the gtx 460. It sounds like you didn't do a clean install of your drivers before you updated your video card resulting in poor performance. The 550TI is miles ahead of the gtx 260+ (About 20% better performance). Please don't spout off your nonsence and most everyone here has had some form of a usefull comment and you're displaying your lack of knowledge in the situation.

Edit: By the way, i don't know if your client is bugged or not and constantly spamming the sound (Kind of sounds like this is the issue). However, if you just happen to be around a lot of dead players then I would not recommend geting rid of the sound file completely as it's supposed to be an indicator that a player died there and a bandit could be near by. My recommendation is to either use a sound program and reduce the sound from the audio file so it's very feint, or replace the sound with a completely other sound that you don't mind, like birds chirping or maybe even strong winds for example.

Either reduce the sound or find the audio file in your Arma II or OA folder and replace the file with a duplicate sound file that has no sound. that way when it starts playing the sound the game will play the new sound file and no sound is emitted.

Why don't people understand that the game is still in Alpha. He is busy adding features or fixing bugs to care about what players are doing. The hackers are not using bugs, they're expliting the engine. Rocket can't do shit about that until it's stand alone. You just need to realise that the game is at a feature state, which is what alphas are meant for.

It's not hard, but very delicate. Essentially you just open your case, take off the heatsink wipe off the thermal compound, take our the old cpu, put your new one in making sure not to apply too much pressure or you will bend a pin (It should just fall into the socket) Then you lock it in and reapply thermal compound. The heatsink that comes with the cpu you buy should have thermal compound pre applied so you can swap out the heatsinks too, if you want. The whole process should take less than 15 minutes. Make sure to put some Isopropyl Alcohol (Rubbing Alcohol) on a cloth to take off the thermal compound. Just make sure that there is thermal compound either on the processor or the heatsink before you put it back together or you computer will only boot for about 2 seconds before shutting off.

A 600 watt power supply should be fine as the actual video card will only draw at MOST 200watts, that combined with what i assume in 1 hdd, should be fine. If you are going to be buying the 550ti make sure you buy it from EVGA, they have the best support and have a trade up program where you can trade in your old card + pay the rest of the value of a newer video card should you decide to upgrade. I can't tell you if you can buy more ram or not, can you tell me the make or model # of your motherboard?

Unless it's a 550TI, go with the 6870. The 6870 is better than the 550TI, but the 550Ti has more video memory which will help a lot since you only have 3gb of what i assume is ddr2.

Try changing the allowed video memory in the in game advanced options. After chaning it once or twice it always fixed the issue for me.
