Blurry effects could be Post process quality. Turn that to off see if it makes a difference.

I must admit, I came to the same conclusion as Private Evans about crosshairs and 3rd person in SA. It's just how it's worded makes it sound like it's either one or the other, in 3rd person you are in that mode until you actually go back into the menu's and change it to 1st person, no matter what you do with your sights. ( I for one like it if it is like that , although I know some wouldn't ) Crosshairs seem to be gone too, especially in 3rd person mode. Could still be crosshairs in first person ?

As a veteran of FPS games, I say remove it for realisms sake. If you want accurate shots you should HAVE to ADS. Hip firing and just aiming where the on screen crosshair is ( even if its swaying about more ) really ruins the imersion for me. hip firing and being accurate IRL takes skill and practice , if people like to hipfire ingame then they have to learn where the bullets are going to go from experience. A wild west gunslinger fired many thousands of bullets from the hip , all the time getting more and more accurate, until they could hit a penny from 100feet while hip firing.

From what I can remember I think it's about 6:30pm when dusk starts and is finally fully dark at 7:30pm. I think dawn is the same too, maybe 30mins earlier ? am ofc.

Graphics card should be fine. 4GB+ of Ram would be best. DayZ is quite CPU intensive, I highly reccommend a quad core or more CPU. As for how high you can run the graphics at, stuff like shadows and AA will eat your grahics card. Textures and AF etc can be run quite high assuming you have 1GB of Ram on the graphics card. Other than that just try meduim settings to start with.

Did you try rendering it first ? If your watching a 6min vid with a file size of 46GB then it could most likely be way too much bandwidth for the HDD to put out smoothly so it will look choppy and laggy. But once renderd to a more acceptable file size the playback will be smooth. Some tips - For DayZ unless you wanna do slow mo action scenes then just record at 30fps and then render at 30fps. Youtube prefers 30fps vids anyway. I do half size res in fraps and then just upscale to 720 in whatever editing software im using ( usually Sony Vegas ) Takes longer to render when upscaling but saves on HDD space. If you want actual 1080 raw footage though then file size is gonna be an issue. There is ofc other programs out there that compress the file size as it's recording, but that can take up quite a bit of CPU power so you may experience loss of FPS or some choppiness ingame while recording. I've tried other programs too, DxTory, Bandicam, I just can't get on with them either. Only other decent one I used before besides fraps was MSI Afterburner Beta. Hardly any loss of ingame FPS and small file size for the raw footage, but irc that too had problems with the audio side when picking up multiple sources.

In Arma2 single player those same settings would result in an extra 30+ fps but DayZ does ALOT of extra CPU task intensive work on the client. The server can also have an effect on your own fps and everyone elses on there.

I don't even view SA as an Alpha or beta. I think of it kinda like how EvE started, released with just a few features and over time has grown into a complicated monster with bowels so deep that you cannot see the bottom anymore. It's just that the SA will be cheap to start with and eventually raise in price until it hits a ceiling.

Maybe you joined a private hive server ? Each Private Hive server has it's own database seperate from the main hive database. This means each one of these servers you join will create you a new character that stays only on that server.

Well , after a quick search, your name and IP does show up on multiple hacking websites specifically to do with Arma2 scripting. Coincidence ? maybe. As others mentioned 60fps is good for DayZ. But just make sure also that you don't have any sort of VSync turned on. VSync will limit your fps to your monitors refresh rate which is usually 60hz on bog standard LCD's, hence 60fps max. There is a VSync option on/off in your graphics cards control panel in Win7. there is also a VSync option in the graphics options in Arma's main menus. To double check for example I have fraps running in the background showing my ingame FPS, on the main menus in Arma I get about 130-150fps on the fps counter. But ofc when I go ingame it drops right down to between 40-70fps. If your on the main menu in Arma and your FPS counter is saying 60fps and is just stuck there then thats a good indication that you have VSync turned on somewhere.

The graphics quality of Arma2/OA still amazes me when everything is turned up full considering how old the game is. This Video is a very good example of how nice Arma can look. Love the music and the editing :thumbsup:
