I watch a lot of Frankie vids and he is such a good guy , i really admire him. BUT ! , I just can't bring myself to play like that, if I don't know the guy already , then i always end up shooting first asking later etc.. The wiki link and DayZ DB map are the main two I think most people use. If you havn't seen the DayZ DB map before you can click on the icons on the map and it shows you what loot could potentially spawn there. It's pretty handy for new players.

Seeing lots of reports on many sites now regarding this steam update. Don't think its anything to do with hackers though. A few temporary work arounds are listed on other sites so far but hopefully steam sorts out thier own mess shortly.

AFAIK Rocket hasn't used anybody else's code. He may have seen an idea in another mod but he then wrote the code himself to make it for DayZ. Not just copy patsa. i.e. all the code is rockets own work.

This sounds like the Loading bug issue. Sometimes your characters data gets abit screwed up on the waiting for char to create part when loading into a server. It used to be that you would just spawn in the debug plains / forest and be kinda stuck there. But code was put inplace so that if anyone was going to be spawned in the debug areas then they would automatically get reset to the beach instead. Sometimes you spawn at the beach with all your gear , and sometimes you spawn with nothing on you at all. ( bug ) The times that you spawn with nothing on you at all a duplicate body will be standing where you last logged off officially and it will have all your gear on that duplicate body. You can loot it and get it all back aslong as no one else finds your dupe body before you do. Sorry I didnt explain it very well :( , hope you get the gist of it anyway.

Have sorted it now. Forums are real laggy lately. What should have been a 30 second job even took me 10mins to do <_<

Has been happening for months. It's not going to stop just because you asked them too either. Hopefully some sort of mechanic will be in the stand alone to alleviate the alt+f4 problem. Until then , have a look at the DayZRedux mod, It has deterrents in place for this very problem. ( Link in my sig )

Most people I know have been whitelisted within an hour or two. Don't forget time zones too though. Venthos is in the US. Gotta give him time to get home from work etc... If you are still waiting to be whitelisted after a few days I would resend the info. But as has already been mentioned, Venthos will also be busy setting up the EU server for us.

Pretty sure if this was reddit , that would get so many upvotes ! Fuel to cars should be like what ammo is to guns. Make you think before using them. It could actually sorta solve the tent and vehicle disguise problem because with a shortage of fuel would a clan even want to waste an hours worth of fuel flying around looking for something they may not even find ? So just by limiting fuel you could possibly solve a lot of problems. Keep all the heli's in but now clans will be fighting over fuel.

Would be cool too if we could transfer just our personnel inventory ( the gear we have on us ) to the EU server. - ( mainly because I have the CZ550 with ammo :D )

4-5 ppl ha ! we should be so lucky now :P This past week has seen an explosion in players joining the server. So much so that the hardware needs updating to handle them all. I've been seeing DayZRedux mentioned on other gaming sites now too B)

Looking forward to an EU server too ! I agree with hallker about the time settings. I think to get that desired effect it would have to be something like GMT -3.

I love hearing stories like this, but saddens me you had to die like that to what sounds like a teleporting script kiddie. He knew where you were all along, all that tactical movement and observing went to waste. I want to get my own dad into DayZ, he is approaching his 60's, and an ex Army guy but I told him to wait until Stand alone comes out. For those older guys still playing, Please for the love of god join a private hive instead. Private hive servers can be found here.

well , ya know , I have done that too morgan , but after 5 months in DayZ it kinda gets boring. To me its the thought that I am actually being hunted, or the rush you get from hunting and killing someone else that keeps me playing. Without the bad guys , I would have given up ages ago.

bandits will be bandits ! game would be boring if everyone held hands and killed the nasty zombies. Actually, I have a bandit tendancy too but the difference between me and OP is , I won't be selling my copy of dayz standalone.

I get about 140 ping from the UK and it's ok. Not sure what the ping kicker is set at for this server. What ping are you getting ? I'de vote for crosshairs removed too. DM's don't matter either way for me, on or off. I use 3rd person for traveling and 1st person when in combat. Being stuck in 1st person all the time makes me feel sick. Even with head bobbing off. Only happens in Arma though. Im fine with 1st person in other games.

Bicycles are my primary form of transport :D I play solo and have no need for a car or any motorised vehicle. 20 mins after my first spawn I found a huey at ( it's spawn point ), it only needed the instrument panel repairing and some fuel, but a chopper will get me killed so I just left it. Last night I killed a guy after he got out of his car. I took his loot, I took the loot that looked intertsting out of the cars boot, and then ..... and then ..... I drove the car to a forest and I lit the fooker up ! destroying it and the remaining loot inside , of which there was spare heli parts too ! I sat down, lit a fire , cooked some raw meat that I stole from the guy I killed and watched that car burn.... im a bad man I know lol When I go crashed chopper hunting I always take the bicycle. 50kmh on road , 30kmh off road. Does'nt need no petrol. Even had the bicycle 70kmh + downhill and to top it all off its pretty damn silent. I love my bicycle ^_^

I'll Sticky this for now. At the moment it's generating even more interest than SurviveDayz mod. Both mods are sufficiantly different from each other. SurviveDayZ is adding tons of different stuff to make it more interesting. DayZ_DIAF is taking away various things and changing the mechanics to make a more pure form of DayZ. One mod or the other should appeal to most people until we get to try standalone.
