Cant play on servers. VIRAL PROBLEM!

Not sure how you're at 1.7.0 if you've downloaded the correct files. Install SixLaucher and it should do it all for you.

    Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed

Wow. This thread is still going? "Bandit skin TO BE removed..." Wouldn't it be great if the old bandit skin was a lootable item... ...has that been said already? What are you even still talking about?!?!
  3. Just made PVT after much, much longer than previously stated and a lot more leg-work than some. I'm constantly providing players with high-end gear for minor-ops (no recognition), gone out of my way to provide medical assistance for players downed on random servers (no recognition), worn tags and helped newbies from the beach (trying to salvage the clan's name) all of this I've done without complaint until now. All I'm getting back is a vastly depleted inventory and an overall sense of 'meh'... Firstly, could I suggest that you guys close applications for new members for a while, just to organise the clusterf**k I've sat and watched since joining? Being the 'largest' isn't necessarily a good thing when sixteen RCTs get wiped out by two vaguely organised bandits at the NWA (I have observed this happening there amongst other places) with no ranked members to advise on rules of engagement. Taking in new players who actively DC, because they don't know any better, screws over those of us who have been playing for months and can handle a couple of average snipers; this also gives this clan a terrible name amongst the community, has (as you guys know) made us a target for regular, consistent hacks AND makes wearing CQF tags the equivalent of a neon sign flashing 'EASY KILL'. Also, are there any NCOs on EU time? Having bodies on a server is a benefit of being in clan, but not so much when you're all in the US and running in high-ranked cliques (this happens!) and you're left on your own with five or six people who literally crap themselves when a single player joins a server without CQF tags and proceed to hide in corner offering no fire support or cover if we have to engage. While the organisational structure (in theory) could function, I am essentially running with a team of my friends that I had before running with this clan. Our NCO is never online/in-game when we are, neither are any high-ranked members, yet we've received a slap on the wrist because we're running as our own team on the interim. I would apologise for this, but I prefer my chances with a structured group, with specific roles that I completely trust. 1) A recent trip to the NWA, looting with CQF members resulted in me getting grenaded almost to death by people trying to blow up the barracks with frags - This is ridiculous, again I would choose running with my friends over chaos and stupidity 2) A few weeks ago I was excitedly pulled into a 'Major Op' which was...to blow up the hotel in Cherno with satchel charges... One player took out five or six member of CQF (with an Enfield) during this farce on a server filled with members all at Cherno. - Again, ridiculous. The next few weeks will decide whether this initially great idea is going nowhere for me. At this point, I'm seriously considering leaving...

Newer Player - My Issues With Day Z

I fail to see how my responding to your post on a public forum makes me nosy; and politely suggesting that you act in a more respectful manner to people in a (largely) supportive community is far from stuck-up, especially if they've taken the time to respond to a post that you could have answered yourself by simply browsing the Bug Reports section. As stated, at this stage you are a tester, not a gamer or even a consumer. Your issues are something that is being looked into and being improved upon with each patch. Dying four times (which is absolutely nothing) to zombies in the manner you initially described is simply part of the process. There is a chance for broken bones, bleeding, shock and infection in every physical encounter, this is currently a feature not a glitch. We have provided you the means to avoid and/or survive physical encounters, hence avoiding the root of your unfounded complaints about an unfinished product that you have signed up to play.

Newer Player - My Issues With Day Z

That was a bit childish, wasn't it Dovi? Lukio actually provided you with the information you asked for and you attack his post with utter drivel. While I might be totally wasting my time with you, the information Lukio provided you with is correct at this stage of development (say it again with me now: DE-VE-LOP-MENT). The process is long, arduous and at times incredibly ugly. I've been a player since the mod was available to the public and I have had to learn to adapt to the various changes to infected hearing, vision, aggro range and damage. They are actually fairly easy to counter in this build of the Alpha (say it with me now, Dovi: AL-PHA). At times its' been unplayable, but I have continued playing and learned to adapt. If you're unable to do so, you're in the wrong gaming environment. You are whining, but I'll try not to hold that against you. I'm friendly in real life and in-game, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Some tips: 1. Carry bandages (at least two) 2. Carry morphine and painkillers (again, two) 3. Full run from aggro (double-tap 'W') and turn and fire. 4. Wait...scratch that. Learn to lose them in thick trees. LOS does now work. You can lose aggro EASILY this way. 5. Run into buildings that have two entry points (red-roofed/long brown/long concrete barns, red-brick houses, stores). Infected will stop running and make it easier to score headshots or simply walk away 6. Try not to insult people kindly responding to your thread. 7. ^ This again

    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2.4

I'll think you'll find that removing the constant respawning to run back to your precious gear is hardly a minor fix. Every time you respawn to get to some imaginary 'sweet-spot' it creates a massive amount of server load as you continually create new entries on the server. This impacts the performance of server which in turn affects every player on it. The devs can and will take as much time as necessary to fix issues that are not going to be immediately visible to layman players expecting a complete experience from the outset. A ghillie suit not spawning is not a game-breaking issue, neither are loot spawns. Correct and accurate player authentication, inventory/storage fixes and nerfing the chimps needlessly spamming the servers that the whole testing community (yes, I went there, but so many of you completely forget) are lucky enough to play on; these are far more important issues than ruining your personal experience, dude. Furthermore, after working as a tester for over four years I NEVER had as much impact on the outcome and development on a piece of software as the collective input of this mod. I'm not brown-nosing, but it completely baffles me why so many people abuse these threads; threads that the devs read, respond to and act upon and instead use this tool as a platform for their own whining entitlement. You bought Arma 2, so you've continued to fund an interesting and player-focused developer. This mod, and everything that comes with it is done in the devs own time and free. Keep your complaints to yourselves. Keep your questions or points pertinent to making this mod the best thing out there. And whatever you do, remember that your gear isn't yours. It belongs to Chernarus. And she will take it back... ...rant over. Beans.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

That's just bad luck, my friend. I seem to find them everywhere. I'm having the opposite - Complete heli crash drought XD
  10. My copy was working six hours ago, now this just pops up out of nowhere? W...T...F...? I've followed these steps and can only follow them verbatim until I have to launch the game. It crashes to desktop at every instance of attempting to launch. Have tried all other steps anyway with no change, guess I'll try the ol' reinstall method.

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

Update to my earlier bafflement at character loss/reset: It seems that it might have something to do with individual servers being updated. If you spawn on the beach with nothing, after rolling with high-end swag and a bag of tasty beefs, hit respawn and you should reconnect with your previous, fully/reasonably pimped character. It seems that you may have to do this on separate servers, though. Still, at least I've got back my trusty sniper rifle, 'Betty'... :D

    Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update

So...lost a character to (insert Alpha remark), forced to respawn, which wasn't too much of an issue. Play for a day or so. Log back in yesterday, I'm back in my old character with the complete loadout I'd gathered. Woohoo! Rollback! Play all though yesterday with no issues; played on about three or four servers spread across the AM and PM. Log in this morning and I'm a new spawn on all servers?!? Anyone else had this? How many separate Hive entries do I have now? DayZ - 1.7.2.3 (updated from experimental 1.7.2.1) Beta - 94876
  13. Hey, I've completed application but cannot log in to your forums. Stuck on an infinite login loop, despite already being logged in..? Wanted to check out the promotion system etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Out of bounds item/vehicles cleanup [2012-07-06]

Where did anybody say we should remove zombies and pvp? And if I die I still loose my gear. And what's the point of not having a save camp? You die, you lose your gear but then someone with a nice stash has some gear back faster, because he worked for it in advance. Basically you don't have any arguments against off-map camps in addition to your feelings what should be right and what not. And then you are pulling this zombie and pvp BS. Isn't this a sandbox game? Where everybody is free to do what they want to do. There is not one right way how this should be played. If some guys like to collect stuff, fine - if some guys like to fight in cherno/elektro, fine - if some guys want to survive with a knife, matches, a hatchet and a canteen, fine. What do you care how others play this game? I didn't refer to vehicles in my post. As they are only available in very small numbers atm it is perfectly fine if they get wiped. What good is a camp 5-10kms outside the map where noone will find it without vehicles? Do you always walk there and back for over 2 hours? No our camps are very close to the map edge. And why do you care about the good or bad of having a camp 5-10kms off map and walking there for 2 hours. Maybe some people just like to walk ingame idk and I don't really care, if a camp off-map even 20km makes them happy so let them have it. What harm are you talking form such camps? The operative word here is 'off-map'. Outside of the sandbox area. An exploit. A misuse of the engine. A cheat. The negative responses to this news are from the players who've likely been item-duping, building duped item/tent cities and needlessly hoarding more vehicles than they or their exploiting friends could possibly need. Every player wants to keep hold of their gear, sure, but the golden rule in this game is to not get too attached to what you're carrying. Expect to lose it. Respawn. Rinse. Repeat. This news means the out-of-bounds exploiters have to be strategic with their camp placement and take the risks with vehicles and gear that the rest of us have to. Now to the DC'ers, please! (probably the same guys tbh)
  15. Feeling like a bawce. Equipped with an AS50, Bizon PP-19, NVG, Coyote backpack and all of the tools (barring GPS) and a ghillie suit. Took a stomp down to the industrial buildings east of Zelenogorsk looking for fuel tank parts. 0300 in the morning, full health, loads of medicine. Two zombies magically aggro from one of those small sheds (I'm currently 10ft outside the concrete wall from the compound), teleport their rotting asses directly at me, instantly break my legs/put me in shock/drop my blood to 5000/knock me clean out. Continue munching while I wait for egg timer, I come around, get knocked back out. Dead. Respawn at Kamenka. I've done this run dozens of times so start full-pelt running at Zelenogorsk. Aw yeah! Make it my corpse, open that bad boy up and start reclaiming my gear. What's this in the corner of my screen? NO MESSAGE RECEIVED FOR 10....20....30.... Server reboot. fml

No screenshot, as not booting Arma through Steam as yet, but there is a fighter jet on the runway at the NW airfield. Grid reference roughly 045048 - Noted at time of post.

    Introduce yourselves

Lo thar! I'm Doctor Wrongpipes (Wrongpipes ingame) And I like keeping my zed kill count LOW. Not a hippy, just like my legs unbroken :) In my four-man team, I'm the designated map-reader/sniper/med supply herder. Friendly, unless messed with; willing to help out a fellow survivor in need. I play on EU servers mainly, so if you see a bush running around with a very large rifle and a pair of glasses poking out of the front, say 'hi'. I'll give you a transfusion or some tasty beefs :)

    AHHH BANDITS/LOOT GOBLINS!!

I know that feel, bro. Get yourself inland, work out where the ghillie suit spawns and get one. I prefer not to kill, but on occassion the 'shoot on sight' policy has to come in when you do the quick DayZ risk/reward/loss sums in your head. With the ghillie equipped, I've had whole four man teams run right past me while I'm proned and not been fired upon, purely because I'm crazily camouflaged. Best bet is to always know your surroundings. Be paranoid. Check your six CONSTANTLY (PROTIP: Double tap '-' on keypad for a bit more FOV). Avoid Cherno and Electro like the plague. Go to Berezhino. Great for low player activity, medical supplies from hospital, two supermarkets, six apartment buildings and military spawns. Travel through the fields in the north/north east for a higher chance of stumbling on a downed chopper. Don't give away your position unless you have to. If you hear a shot, try to work out the calibre (handy if you end up in a shootout), hide and face the direction of the fire; wait five to ten minutes before moving out. Gotten myself to Day 10 (new personal best..not brilliant, but still...) with only one 'murder' which was a dude saying "friendly" in Direct then attempting to unload an AK poorly in my direction anyway. There are good people in this apocalypse, I'm up for helping people out/providing ammo/meds/food etc., but I keep my distance first :) Good hunting, dude ;)
  20. I'm not in favour of NVGs as a spawn item, purely because (for a game without 'obvious' objectives), finding a pair is a massive achievement; even more so for those of us who play without exploiting loot spawns at the NE airfield. Also, your first forays into a night server, once you have them, are almost a new experience. Most players on these servers are very well equipped, zombies aggro oddly in the pitch black (survivor-seeking warheads once you make a sound). Logically, it's a step up in progression; both your style of play and the risk/reward balance become altered once you can play at night. My view is that NVGs should stay as they are: Rare and essentially a form of 'levelling-up' within the game. That being said, your best bet is to search the open fields of Chernarus for heli crashes. If you think you (finally) deserve a pair, I've had loads of luck finding NVGs there. Good hunting, peeps :)

Grammar nazi says: This is not a word ;)
  22. I killed someone in Stary in this way around when this was posted. I don't play 'bandit' (whatever that means now), but I came down to the military tents to find six or seven dead survivors, and one guy crouched, looting their corpses. If this was you, can you tell me you wouldn't have opened fire?
