Bored? This helped me...

Sounds like you're having fun, dude but I'm almost at 11,000 humanity soooo....no. I won't be joining you. :) I'm sure I'll make a sweet minus-humanity score for any real bandits out there. But sadly, most of the players choosing this path: Mainly kill fresh spawns who are unarmed (stay classy, guys) Prefer a tougher challenge, but have no idea how to zero a target past 200/300 metres (Oh, you have an AS50? Tell me what a good sniper you are...) or Hang around the major towns and shoot at anyone who happens to fire a gun anywhere in the vicinity (a la Sacriel & Co) I'm hoping to run into some of the more interesting banditry out there such as the kidnappings or muggings that the internet tells me do happen, but most players can't seem to be bothered communicating past wildly unloading clips at me. Ah well. I'll keep knee-capping these kiddies with my SVD until a bandit warlord appears and makes me feel threatened. :) -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
DoctorWrongpipes replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Not sure about tents, but vehicles are infuriating at the moment. Two days in a row now, I've gathered up the parts to repair a vehicle I've found (Day one: UAZ - Day two: GAZ) and both times the vehicles have magically disappeared on server restart...before I've had a chance to add the final missing parts. I save everything at least ten times before I move on/log off. Anyone else having this issue with either repairable or fully repaired/hidden vehicles? I would raise a bug report, but none of my submissions have ever made it to the forum, so it seems pretty redundant. Hopefully the devs will look at this instead of dogs? :) -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update
DoctorWrongpipes replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
The 'stuck at loading' issue seems to be Battleye utterly failing to be useful...again. Attempted to join up with some friends, got to main menu/player list for the server and clicked OK. Straight away a server message was visible to my friends in-game, stating that I was kicked for unresponsive BattleTard client. No such message on my end, just Loading screen of death. After that, I was unable to join and got repeatedly kicked on entry for script restriction #87. Thanks SpazEye. You get them darn hackers, real good. Ah-hyuk! -
Alt+F4-ing? Hoarding is the behaviour spoiling this experience. (suggestion)
DoctorWrongpipes posted a topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So sick of running around with new players I've introduced to the mod, and trying to find vehicles. I know it's highly unlikely that they'll be in their expected spawn location, maybe one or two will parked by unwitting players, poorly obscured by a tree near a town. Most (as you know) are parked in a fucking row, surrounded by suspicious amounts of tents at the map edge, and collected (SEE: stolen after others repair) by two or three douchebags. Yada yada it's part of the game, but with the reintroduction of the chopper to the map, hoarders now have eyes on every vehicle, wherever it may be hidden and regardless of cover. I've flown the chopper (taken from a hoarder camp) and the view into treelines is ludicrous. Every tent, even bicycles can be spotted from hundreds of metres away. This essentially means, whoever has the chopper, has all of the vehicles. Four, maybe five guys needlessly controlling all of the vehicles for fifty players. Add to this that someone will likely find this pointless showroom and then blow it up, thus endlessly repeating the cycle on every server restart. My suggestion is this: If more than two player-saved vehicles are parked within proximity of say 200/300m of each other, they instantly spawn thirty zombies. You want a car showroom that basically forces players into playing and enjoying the experience in only one way (or endlessly running in featureless hell trying to find your nest of douchebaggery)? You best be prepared to fight for it and be prepared to defend spread-out clusters of your stolen vehicles and duped tents. There is no need for a group of four people to have nine or more vehicles. Part rant, part suggestion, I know. But I hope some of you are as bored of this behaviour as I am... -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

Not sure if related to another unstable Beta from BI or the DayZ code, but my server list (from OA launch) doesn't fully populate all of the time. Server names in my filter (despite existing) do not appear as joinable. I have to continually reload DayZ until it sorts itself out...only to get stuck at loading. Anyone else confirm? -
Obligatory moan about rare gear loss. My character just flew into the air and died instantly, in the far North, well away from any players. There is a Reddit post confirming other hacks on this server tonight, too. Extremely pissed at this.

At the range I use my sidearm for, I'm not all that fussed about the sighting (I used to care *sniff* when my revolver skills were boss *sniff*). The G17 was another AVOID gun in the pre-nerfing DayZ; I may give it a look now as the clip size is massive and it's incredibly quiet. *Sepia-toned montage of one-shotting*

Since the handgun nerf, I've fallen back on the (previously avoided) PDW, just to try it out. Shitty iron sights aside, being able to full-auto infected at close quarters is its biggest selling point for me. Actual PDW clips are fairly rare, but as its essentially a slutty sidearm, you can stick almost anything in it ;)

Seriously? To the server-hoppers griefing on FR 136
DoctorWrongpipes posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've never bothered to post anything that could be construed as a 'gear loss' whinge. I know the mechanics of the game, the sadistic cruelty of the engine; what irks me is the thoughtless, abject stupidity of some of its players. I single-handedly found a chopper and fully repaired it, barring a single pane of glass. As my 'team' of friends couldn't be online until the following day, I set about hoarding as many jerry cans as possible. I'd gathered 25. On my own. Sat in a tent not 200m from the chopper. I log for a few hours and come back to find these idiots had server-hopped in, swapped Enfields and AKMs for SVDs, L85s and M4A1 SDs but had also attempted to fly the chopper. Which I had not yet begun to fuel. So I logged in to find half the forest on fire and the remaining spastics firing at me and missing entirely. So to the guy in the ghillie suit with the shitty aim: you had to scroll past the twenty-five jerry cans to get the ghillie suit you stole from that particular tent. Did you not think to suggest fuelling the incredibly rare and difficult to maintain vehicle before you and your merry band of thumbless inbreds decided to fly it? Survival, fucktards. Not the lulz. EDIT: They also combat logged when I returned fire. -

You can't swim on that server and I had the only PBX. And the fishing boats...well....have you driven one? :D -
Seriously? To the server-hoppers griefing on FR 136
DoctorWrongpipes replied to DoctorWrongpipes's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, was the island spawn. The PBX I'd saved was still there until another guy hopped in behind me where it was docked and drove off in it. Couldn't hit him or the boat before he hit the draw distance. I was set up on that island weeks ago, hence the amount of high-end gear we'd gathered. They had to put a chopper there, didn't they? :( It's not that the camp was found, I expected it eventually, even before it became a helicopter spawn. It's the wasted hours of solo missions to gather the parts and fuel down the toilet. Just wanted to see it in the air before some vehicle hoarders save it off-map and never use it. -
Not a rocket scientist, angry little dude. I just don't run around griefing with weapons I can't handle. Learn to account for bullet drop (or learn to range-find with the military grade scope you're looking through) and get a headshot in one. Common sense, really ;)
-
I haven't run it since Arma went up to 1.62, but one of the earlier Betas borked it so it couldn't run from any DayZ shortcuts you might use. It may still work from vanilla Arma 2 OA or Combined Ops Multiplayer, though :)

I've managed to hit a prone, crawling target from just under 750 metres. If they can't hit you prone, they're not worth being referred to as a sniper. I love being a 'bandit' hunter. Rubbing their entitled, over-confident faces in it gives me warm, fuzzy feelings. In my pants.

We need a purpose.
DoctorWrongpipes replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Really? Is CoD the only mulitplayer game where people kill each for no other reason than a score? I understand that that particular franchise has bred a younger, spazzier, more retarded breed of gamer than the lofty, elitist autism of EVE or...well....let me think....Arma, but if you require set missions to be laid out for you from on high, then perhaps you are playing the wrong game? Admittedly, mysterious bandits on rooftops in major towns, sniping with terrible aims is somewhat annoying, but hey at least they have set themselves a goal (of sorts). My small group divides into set roles and runs mini 'ops' into certain areas of the map for certain supplies; sometimes we go bandit-hunting to protect new spawns on the coast; recently we've set about hunting hoarders' camps with the sole intention of allowing the vehicles to spawn for everyone else. If we amass enough ammo and medical supplies, we take off to 'cleanse' a town of as many zombies as possible to let off steam, which is often hilarious. (PROTIP: Fire a FN-FAL in Electro in broad daylight (AMAZEBALLS)) Get with a group and get organised. It takes planning, coordination and many, many hours to perfect. -
I've spent lots of time using the Shooting Range downloadable mission for Arma 2. If I have to snipe to protect my group, I need to be able to kill instantly, and with practice I do now every time (ain't no DC'ers on my watch!). It amuses me no end the amount of fools running around around with M107s and AS50s with absolutely no clue how to shoot the damn things over 300-400 metres. Be grateful that most of the twat-handles sniping fresh spawns in the major towns largely have no clue what their doing with their gear :)

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update
DoctorWrongpipes replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
This version has caused major graphical glitches to military environment features. The crashed humvees, military corpses outside Berezino hospital and the military tents in the north of the town are causing fit-inducing artefacts for me and other players (three of us ATI, two NVidia). Also on the metal parts of CAT wire (hey guys! Our camp is over here!!) Anyone else confirm this? -
Fix for the 1.7.2.4 artifacting.
