As a non-bandit, I think banditry does make this game fun. Earlier tonight I ran from a guy in Elektro. I bluffed, saying I had an M16 (I did) and that it was loaded (it wasn't). Ended up running for my damned life. Made it to the firestation, picked up an AK and some ammo, and promptly lost my internet connection because of a thunderstorm. No idea if I've still got that AK. But that bandit? Honestly, that made the game more fun then I've ever had running from a zombie.

Strange....I believe the word you're looking for is "terrifying." Well, that's the word I would have chosen, anyway. "Oh, my primary weapon disappeared. I'll just switch to my....ohhhh....crap."
