Yesterday I shot a man in the back, he was unarmed. Felt bad so I run to him, bandaged him, did blood transfusion and gave him painkillers. I said "sorry" he said "ok, cheers" and went on his way. Also I covered him, when he aggro'ed some zombies. I shot him because I wanted to get some loot, but felt bad, as he was unarmed and it wasn't really fair fight. He died couple of minutes later, in Cherno, I'm pretty sure someone else sniped him. -
I dont know if rare. We found 3 of those already. Trading it? Well, only for pickup :)

This idea is very nice. I like especially the part that makes the game "alive", "dynamic" and still keeps it "emerging" from player's actions. Good job mate! -
My suggestion is: 1. add "Beans given" stat - it should count how many items (could be beans and water only), you, as a player given to other survivors 2. add "Survivors healed" stat - how many times you healed someone, including bandaging, blood transfusion etc Point is, that many players use statistics (those visible in debug window) as a value of their success, more kills, more succesfull I was. This would motivate people to try to help others, as well as reward those which are helping already.

Very nice work there, you surely have talent. I like graffiti on walls, signs of players. Something that is missing in DayZ but adds a lot of depth to the image. I'm putting you work on my desktop background :)

Fantastic idea. Recently I started to play more stacionary. Less exploring, more tent placing, gathering resources, hunting. Fields of corn to overlook would be great addition. Also, when you are hiking through Chernarus, you sometimes encounter signs of other players. If you find someone's car you only think about stealing it. But if you find crops, then you would think about maybe joining this group or individual, cause there is no sense in just stealing that.

YES It can be frustrating but is more authentic. I dont own weapon and most propably I would not have one at the start of apocalypse. For sure I would have matches and knife instead. -
@Rocket: you're on track man! Good to see that full-time work in BIS on DayZ is paying off so fast. Good luck with debugging and keep us posted :)

My idea of mechanics: - people start with less and more random stuff, ie. without gun at all, only with food, only with water, one has matches, other one has hatchet. Also, they start in more random locations, not only on beach - this makes idea of teaming up more logic if you encounter someone and you dont have gun or you just dont know what he has, if he has stuff worth looting - less problematic communication - ie. direct chat working. I sometimes shot on sight or be engaged in shooting because I cannot communicate easily that I'm friendly. I would let bandit take some of my stuff if he let me go, even if shots were already fired. (this would be fixed in next Arma patch hopefully) - radio item for long distance communication and removal of global chat. This way - (someone pointed it already) you will want to team up with someone just because you dont know anything about whats going on. You would like to ask him if he knows whats going on somewhere... but: - more influence and more dynamic dangers - possibility to clear village from zombies and they dont respawn for some time, or they have to go back from other village. This way, when players have more influence on how the world looks like, they will use it and they will want to broadcast information about it, share about their success -

Be fair and O.R.G.A.N.I.Z.E Create team with your friends, organize yourself, go into game and clear DM-atchers out. Broadcast your area as controlled, allow trading etc. Consider yourself militia. Control area, let people do things in peace. Punish murderers. Voila. -

Old system of gear was eating performance, because there had to be timed checks if you are bleeding and you have proper item in gear. I assume that has to be done for each possible action, so loss of performance is obvious. I think that it should be ok only for bleeding, but on the other hand it will be also confusing for new players. He will bandage because it is in action menu and then he will be shaking or something and player will still don't know how to use proper items and where. On third hand, in real time, sometimes you don't know what is wrong with you. And you need time to get knowledge about those aspects, like how to use morphine or epinephryne. It is real that this isn't obvious for new players. The less hints in game what you should do, the better IMHO.

Hazzard, your point is valid, but also not fair enough. Of course there are a lot of kiddies and players that aren't familiar with Arma style of gameplay. But as in any other community we should not force them to leave, just because they aren't fitting with our image. They will change the community a little and they will change themselves a little or they will leave. In other words, those players need someone to teach them good manners and I think you, me and many others vets should help them. Personally, for many years I felt alone with my fanboyism about OFP/Arma and now I know at least 3 guys that started to learn Arma because of DayZ. They whine about how hard it is to control the movement for example but I explain them why it was done like that etc. Just my opinion :)

1. campfires can be nice social element, imagine you find someone sitting around campfire and you sit along and say Hi, I'm friendly ;) 2. wood gonna be fixed, already stated by rocket 3. wood takes 2 slots is ok, wood is pretty big 4. antibiotics to rare - I agree 100%, I have couple of packs of antibiotics, some painkillers, some bandages, I have no morphine or epi :) -
@rocket Hmm, so you work on saturday night. In BIS HQ. Hmm, what possibly you could be doing? ArmA3 builds? Nah. So, you're working on new patch for Arma 2? :) You don't need to answer that :)
