Everytime my friend and I join a server we test to see if Direct Comm works, half the time it doesn't. What about other channels? Group Chat does jack shit and Vehicle Chat only works when you're inside a vehicle. -

People can be so ignorant... you're basing "everything else sucks" from what logic? PlayClaw shits all over Fraps. PlayClaw 1) It's more forgiving on your HDD 2) There's more recording options 3) Separate UI to change settings on the fly while in-game

I use PlayClaw, it's built for quad core computers. Works wonderfully.

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7469/dayzfail.jpg Options are out of place, I can't change Vsync for one. I tried changing the UI size to see if that would help but nope. Any help? Playing from a capable Laptop using Arma 2 Free and OA, both on Steam.

Gah, again I have this problem. I followed your tutorial for installing and setting up the Arma 2 Launcher just fine. How do I go about adding -mod=@dayz? I tried right clicking on arma2oa.exe in my OA folder but I can't change any target lines.

Zooming in on foliage = bad FPS

I noticed a significant improvement by increasing Shadow Detail from Normal to High, I got help from Myke at the Arma forums :) Explanation here - A short explanation why actually raising shadow quality results in better FPS. There are 2 different methods/algorithms to calculate shadow. One uses the CPU and is active on normal settings or lower. The other uses the GPU and is used on high/very high. Since ArmA 2 puts heavy load on the CPU, taking away the shadow calculation and move it to the GPU (which often has enough resources to handle this additional load) results in higher FPS. -

Ahaaa just happened again to my friend. He was in the barracks looting, he made sure he was the only one in there. As he's looting he gets shot numerous times in the back by a guy with a FN FAL, he obviously hopped there, I approach the barracks and lie down facing the door, I can see right through; waiting for the FN FAL dude to enter the hallway. As he comes out I nail the fuck out of him, I get the confirmed kill yet the scrub Alt F4'd. He took my friend's NVG and M107, and I couldn't retrieve them because our opponent's corpse disappeared (assuming this is because he quickly Alt F4'd even though I killed his ass). -
..the Bandits, you know you're trying to give guns to Survivors to fight Bandits wouldn't that make it just as easy for the Bandits themselves to get guns (interrupted) because if you're opening this market up for the just plain Survivor then, the average Survivor is not going around looking for a gun it's the average Bandit that's going around trying to find any weapon he can so it'll just make it twice as easy.

I know what you mean, my friend and I saw a guy in a ghillie suit near Stary, my buddy took a pop at him, missed, he fired a 2nd shot and it would have made a direct hit but the guy Alt F4'd - relocated and shot my friend. -

My mate got in but I didn't, I was immediately kicked after joining the server with that message. What's that all about?

Same happens to me, when I attract zed's or when there's a bunch of them nearby my FPS drops to like 10 or so. -
Debug wilderness/forest. Abort and try again, or another server.
