I'm not sure I understand hackers.

Sociopaths don't get feedback by co-operation or participation with others, they only get feedback by dissapointing or frustrating others. They do what they do for the same reason a normal person plays by the rules - a sense of fulfilment
  2. That would make your machine an order of magnitude more powerful than a middling pc* which will get around 25-30 fps and nearly 5 times more powerfull than a gaming pc which get about 70 reliably. . I hate to cast doubt, but I must admit i'm doubtful * correction: Windows PC

A superb story. Do you mind if relay it to some of my friends at work? I want to give them a taste of the potential of this game

Global ban transfered out of DayZ?

In ten years i will be in my fifties (being 45 now) I live in the uk. I remember the silver jubillee; being lifted over a pub garden wall into a party. My childhood was filled with t-rex and mud over the radio. My teen years were in the eighties. Cheating at a game is a dishonourable and dishonest thing to do

And the better the playing experience, the more people are likely to buy..hey presto, no inherent conflict of interest If you beef up the advantages of dealing with hackers by collective action by (say) several companies, the benefits would almost ceratinly outway any costs..It will happen in the end Sure it is. You don't consider dishonesty to be immoral? Most people do. In ten years i'll be in my fifties. I doubt i have enough time to grow up into a morally vacant, condescending cunt...but i'll try ;)
  8. They should model physics well enough to allow you to dig a pit, put sharp spikes in the bottom and cover it with a tarpaulin covered in sticks and grass..also you should be able to cover yourself in mud and shout "they drew first blood!" while waiting for victims I think this kind of general purpose physical simulation, good enough to allow you to create working (even simple) machines out side of a very limited context, is a great concept but outside the bounds of practical implemention in a game presently.

Why do people whine on about alt-f4?

Maybe this exploit could be crimped by making disconnected player characters stand up motionless for a minute or so after disconnection or logoff. During that time the character can be killed and looted without the player's involvement and the player can only jump back to their stationary character's location if they re-login. if you can't be sure your character is going to be safe for a minute or so, then you are kind off using logging off as an exploit.

Global ban transfered out of DayZ?

The ban wouldn't be legal in any sense. If a game developer wants to let people wander in and shit all over their customers, they could do so. So what's your beef?

Imo game makers can often make more money by selling cheat free gaming environments to people who want to play, than by selling the product to cheats You see no moral difference between cheating on your own in a game and cheating other competing players? What are you 6?

Global ban transfered out of DayZ?

I'm not so sure the answer is obvious. How popular would world of warcraft have become if hacking had been a similar scale issue as dayz has presently? would blizzard have made more money by selling keys to hackers than they have made by providing a popular game which is *relatively* cheat free? It obviously depends on circumstance, but i think if you have something big and popular, i would say you are far better off making sure the service is good (siding heavily with your legitmate gameplaying customers), than playing both sides of the fence

Global ban transfered out of DayZ?

If a game developer / publisher (theoeretically) wants to ban you bercause you are known hacker who cheats in games and they would rather their customers didn't have to put up with you, there is nothing unfair about it. Practicality is another matter

It would be perfectly resonable for the owner to ban him from all *his* restaurants..you agree?.. by extension, it would be perfecty reasonable (and fair) for any and all restaurant owners to ban him from all their restaurants, on the same basis. Why would it be unfair to refuse to serve someone who appears to want to shit on your customers?
