Chernarus Map Guide App for Android/iOS
leblackdragon replied to leblackdragon's topic in New Player Discussion
Well, safe trip. The iOS version is strange. It works fine on some devices, others not. There seems to be a bug related to the auto-rotate function. Hopefully it will be fixed when the next version is cleared for release. -

Chernarus Map Guide App for Android/iOS
leblackdragon replied to leblackdragon's topic in New Player Discussion
You're not the only one suffering from this. All I can advise is to make sure your device is up to date, remove, and re-install the app. It's puzzling for me as it works flawlessly on the iPads and iPhones tested on. Though I'll admit I didn't test it for the iPod and iPhone 3 variants. I'll tidy up the code and will be releasing a newer version soon. Hopefully these issues will be minimized. -

Apple's approval process is usually two weeks. If they reject it then add another two weeks, and so on... -

Is anybody actually using Rifles?
leblackdragon replied to Prof. Awesome's topic in New Player Discussion
Considering their killing power at range, rifles are best handled by a spotter who stays back from the action while his troop move in. He can provide valuable intel as well as cover. He can even kill problematic development, and at his range he's well out of the Z's hearing range. You'd generally never use them when you are on your own for the reasons you've stated. -
Should I play this game?
leblackdragon replied to basicnerf@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
Doesn't that decision fall entirely on to you? You're likely to find a ton of people who'll say "hell ya!" since this is the official DayZ forum. The removal of bandit skin and the lack of an effective "humanity" system has pretty much turned this game into a "shoot on sight" affair... but not a whole lot more than what it used to be prior. It's still a highly recommended MOD to experience. You won't find anything like it and if you can play it, you'll be a fool to pass up the opportunity now. -
Chernarus Map Guide App for Android/iOS
leblackdragon replied to leblackdragon's topic in New Player Discussion
Thanks! Unfortunately, and fortunately I'm going to have to "perk" it up a lot more since Apple has REFUSED the app. Sorry iPhone/iPad users, another two weeks delay as I pretty up the app (since it's not up to iTunes standards) and re-submit it for approval. -

Where do Kindle folk get their apps? I only recently discovered that Kindle runs a version of Android. ... and yes! I can build for Kindle devices' date=' but so far it's uncharted territory for me. Any word on how this will help figure out the large empty box area that I was experiencing? Thanks! I wanted to see the texture size and what version of the ARM processor is used in your device. Did you try uninstalling and installing the latest app update? Which is??? S2 and 7" Tab. I read through the specs of the Transformer Prime and it doesn't seem to be an ARMv7 device. So off the bat I can't guarantee it working properly on your device. On the other hand your HTC One X SHOULD work fine. Others who've used the App on their HTC device (can't remember which one) didn't run into similar issues. PS... "Transformer Prime", what a SILLY name for a device!!! Someone in marketing has a Transformers crush. *rolls eyes* -

What is your device? All that you have mentioned is crisp clear and high rez on my Galaxy S2. I can even count the houses and see their orientation from the large map... let alone see the details of the city close-ups. I've encountered a similar problem to yours on the low end iPhone 3's. If your device has limited texture memory then I have to update the code to accommodate devices like yours... but it's good that you brought it up cause I thought it was an iOS issue only. -
One shot?... How about equipping a knife, risking your life by getting up close and personal with a zombie, human, and slashing it a few times HOPING he/it will go down? Sounds more realistic doesn't? ... and it would be nice if the Z/Human would scream as you slash him to attract attention too. . . . But seriously, I'd pay good money to ditch the Makarov for a pick axe... that MIGHT break with usage! :D

Go near the body you want to loot until an icon appears. Generally it's a green rifle. Then press "G" to open up your gear. If there are loot-able items it should appear on the left column. Other instances when nearing a downed body is an option appearing instead of the green rifle asking you to "drop" and item to "get" what's on the ground. Then there's looting back packs. You go near one and use the mouse scroll button to show what options you have to interact with it. Lastly, picking up bolt arrows. You need to place the cursor on the steel bolt and use the scroll button until the option to pick it up appears. Sometimes you really need to get into tricky positions and angles to get the option.

Get to a body of water and swim from one side to the other. For some reason they get confused when knee deep in water and just forget about you. Otherwise, they will run, jump, climb, crawl, walk thru walls forever until they finally catch up with you no matter how far you are. It doesn't matter how many obstacles blocking the view are between you and them. It's just not written into their AI the conditions to "lose interest" in you. I don't know if this is considered server hopping, but if you have enough distance between you and them to be considered an escape, there's nothing in the books against logging out and back into the same server. That's a viable solution when you're inland until some decent AI is programmed into their rotten skulls. In the end... who wants to be killed by a crawler you passed by an hour ago?!?! Edit: If you have bandit tendencies, you can always run by other players to "shake" off a few Z's! loool

Yeah, hopefully it will be fixed. At least make sure all the zombies that should be in a town are spawned before that town is in viewing distance, and enforce a minimum spawn radius for zombies away from you!
-
I had two zombies today spawn right in front me! Not more than 10 meters! Of course the Zombie saw me immediately and there was no alternative but to kill it and alert the others around!!! So much for stealth! ... and the problem is, I stayed away from the buildings and waited... and waited... and waited to make sure there were no surprises. I would've imagined the that was far more than enough time for the zombies to start to spawn in!
