So no continuity? Nothing to do but kill random people and hack?
Hysterics replied to Hysterics's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Finding a meeting spot isn't hard at all, it's getting there without being sniped, or hacked, or any other number of things that's an issue. For instance earlier, I saw spawning along the coast and my friend was inland a bit, not even far a part, so I go into Elektro as I spawned right beside it, was gonna do a quick run around to grab some morphine and blood bags, hopefully a back pack, spent five minutes at most, being stealthy ( I'm not a complete tard just because I bitch about a 'free' game. ) but I end up getting sniped. So I respawn at Solinchay, which is when I found that vehicle, by that point my room mate wasn't exactly sure where he was, and started heading towards me, but I ended up having that other player get in the car and didn't want to bring my friend into that situation, figured the guy who got in the car would think I was trying to double cross him, or something, so instead we changed our plans to trying to meet up on my other server where I 'thought' I had a saved ural civilian, so I drive up north with the random guy, while my friend is trekking norther. He found a deer stand and promptly broke his leg falling off of it in a random glitch. So now he's down in Kav... Yeah... Real easy sometimes... Other times not so much... -

I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness, and a fair amount of time around the edge of the map and in the empty area beyond, never found another tent/vehicle that a player had saved, well I've found a few tents but they were always empty. That was on of my objectives for awhile, then it turned to just finding all the spawn points for vehicles and fixing them up, going on joy rides etc... I was blaring music the other day through the in game microphone while driving along the coast, was good times... lol... But yeah I dunno. Most vehicles I find at spawns are very broken down and require a lot of time to fix, hard to spend all that time just for a 20 minute joy ride haha. -

I spend most of the time I am online trying to meet up with my room mate lol... It's a lot easier said than done. Also when we go to play while the other person is offline we end up apart from one another, then when we're online together again we spend literally hours trying to meet up... I don't know, I get what you're saying, but it's reallllly hard to meet people in game and trust them. Only met three people who didn't shoot me on sight, one of them only had a shitty pistol while I had an M4, and he wanted to follow along with me, but I just had this bad feeling that he would jump me the second he had a chance, another time this guy saw me in Elektro and he really needed a blood bag, and so did I, really low HP, so we ended up blood bagging eachother (Why does that sound dirty.) but again I had a bad feeling about him, just his tone of voice over the Mic, felt like he got what he needed and I just didn't feel like ending up dead so I left. The third time was just earlier today, I spawned in Solinchay and there was a car nearby, only needed one tire to get fixed, fixed it up asap and started driving, went offroad ( The car drives reallllly slow offroad ) and randomly saw another player, he had a gun, and I figured If I drove away he might just shoot me down, so I just stopped the car and let him in, we drove from Solinchay to that north western town that starts with a K... anyways, that was the only elongated friendly encounter I've had, and partly only think it was friendly because I explained that I was just trying to get north as fast as I could so I could relog on my other server where my Ural Civilian was stashed. ( It was gone when I got there, 9-10 hours after saving it there. ) I explained all that and told him when we get north the Car is all his, and told him I had just spawned so I had no loot anyway, so he really didn't even have a reason to kill me.... Who knows how it woulda gone down If I had played things differently and had gear... I do get you though, If I had like five or six irl friends playing this it might be a different story, but at the same time I work graveyard shifts, play alone at night most of the time..... So yeah. -

I don't even mean a base in that sense, just somewhere I can store stuff and meet up with friends... I know the area's I've stored my vehicles in weren't stumbled upon by legit players in the eight hours I was offline to sleep for lol... I don't know. Yeah that would be a sweet addition, and clearly one for the future right, but there's really no poiint in fixing up any vehicle that requires more than one or two pieces of gear, tires, engine parts, fuel lines, they all take up 6 slots, and you have really minimum gear slots, especially considering holding an extra weapon is 8 slots, then there's ammo which I try and have 6 clips of at all times.... You can't be prepared, with morphine, blood bags, food, water, ammo, an extra gun, and do -anything- else. And Tents/vehicle saving don't work, so even if you did spend all that time fixing up a vehicle, going back and forth between it and industrial spawns looking for engine parts etc, you'll only have the vehicle for as long as you're online, when you log off you might as well kiss it good bye. It's like why even have the ability to own a tent, or to save a vehicle, if there's no way it works. and this has been an issue for a long ass time. Either fix it or remove the option, stop dangling the proverbial carrot in front of our eager faces. :P -

Sorry, remind me again, how long has it been in 'alpha' for lol. This is a working game. People need to stop hiding behind it being in an Alpha. You know when you're fucking the same chick on a regular basis, you're fuck buddies, no big deal right, well when you're fucking the same chick for months, maybe a year or so, even if you don't go out of your way to say you're 'a couple' it doesn't really matter, you still are. Oh and if you're living together, look out you might even end up being common law. So fuck buddies would be Alpha, which I think in the relationship we've all had with DayZ, is LONG past. -

For me, there's no point in doing much of anything but finding a couple weapons, and hunting other players along the coast. There's no point spending 30 minutes running inland to build up your gear, or find GPS/NightVision/Any of that junk, why spend hours doing that when it's inevitiable that a hacker or some stupid glitch will just take it all away. You can't back any of your items up, no way to store things, so wtf let's just find guns and kill random people. It's just stupid... -
1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.

Definitely having issues like this. -
I've found and repaired two Ural Civilians now, great trucks, but both times I've hid them they're gone by the next day... I hide them in obscure places and spend a lot of time doing so, so it's really frustrating... I hear about people who make bases out of their vehicles that actually last a long time but I've had zero luck every time... I save the vehicle like a dozen times before I leave it... Anyways I just want advice on areas that I can hide stuff, or how to actually make some progress lol... I've had Nightvision three times, GPS twice, silenced cco M4s.. tons of rare good loot, but I can't ever back any of it up for when I die, cause it's inevitable haha... I only play on low pop servers, like under 10 people, and I stillll run into hackers regularly.... Can anyone maybe suggest good servers? The thing is I've been told to go to newer servers for vehicles, because more are left to spawn and not stashed away by other players, but it's hard to find a new server with an established admin... Anyways I love this game, regearing isn't a big deal, it's just frustrating that there's nothing to work towards. I had my one Ural filled up with about a dozen guns including an AS50 ( I just don't really like carrying them around for general use... ) and I had like 25 cooked meat saved up at one point too in there, and like 10 water bottles shit like that, was starting to save up parts to repair other vehicles... Anyways, any advice is appreicated..

Sounds like you've had bad luck and or don't visit vehicle spawns. I've been playing for about a month now, and haven't ever found a GPS/NV on the ground, but have found a few on corpses heh. I've found three ghillie suits, one in a church, one in an office building in elektro, and I can't remember where the third was, nwaf I think... I've found a downed helicopter that had 20rounds of m4 ammo and 5rounds of silenced m4 ammo, found two ural civilian trucks, an offroad 4x4 truck, two of those shitty little cars, two busses, and probably seen five of the max slot backpacks on the ground before, but looted more off corpses... Also found a few bicycles and my room mate just found a motorcycle at a spawn location I told him to go to on our server so that was at least half me. :P I spend a lot of my time looking for those types of things though.. When I die, and go north, I make a plan to hit up every vehicle spawn that's on the way.

Help with making a base, where to hide?

I've been led to believe that tents are incredibly unreliable at holding loot though, vehicles seem to be the only option? -

5000? You're a rather optimistic fellow aren't you. ;) I can't go a night without seeing at least one hacker, usually a few. It seems to me that literally one fifth or one sixth of the playerbase seems to hack, the vast majority of them try and remain in the 'grey' area as well, so it's not as obvious... -

Hysterics replied to Thadeum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like how you ended that post with nonsensical, because that's about all that I got from your post... Wtf do you even mean? So basically we made him cheat, because we told him cheating is bad. Sounds legit. Or are you trying to say Us, as in the community, caused him to cheat? Because a minority of any community defines the community as a whole, right? ( Minority being hackers. ) Fucking ridiculous. I know this is just a video game, and that many children play it, but is that the honest to god sort of logic that your brain runs off? Scary shit... If you're trying to say that we're all just bitter pricks, and THAT drove him to cheat, well you're full of shit as well because no one forces anyone to download a few scripts, download a BattlEye bypasser, and start to spawn shit. It's a personal decision. If this guy hadn't been banned, he probably would have got bored of being in the 'grey' area, and he would have pushed it further and further, as he said he even used godmode once. He was once happy playing the game by itself, got bored within a few days and couldn't deal with the shit that EVERY OTHER person deals with in this game, so he decides to start cheating. Whose to say he would have remained entertained while cheating and being nice, maybe a week or two down the line, after having spawned every and any item he wanted, every vehicle he felt like toying with, he would have gotten bored and decided that the vast majority of people out there are just douches that shoot first, he's pretty much said he feels that way anyways, so the next step would simply be to justify killing them, which considering it only took him three or four days to justify cheating........... Nuff said. I don't trust people like that. Grow a pair and play the game like everyone else does and like it's intended to be played, or gtfo. Or get banned, hmmm nevermind. -

Sorry you can't wrap your head around these people causing issues, but there's a huge amount of people hacking items into the game, extra ammo, guns, that wouldn't exist without those scripts. I've found stashes of gear I could tell weren't legit, and it's really hard to say no to that... And he even admitted to teleporting vehicles around, as I've said before most of the time nowadays when people use scripts to get vehicles, they're teleporting an already existing vehicle or causing one to spawn at their spawn locations and teleporting that to them, depriving legitimate players of the fun that is finding random vehicles and fixing them up... The list goes on, server stablility, BattleEye wastes their time dealing with people like him instead of ThunderDomers because they have to deal with everything that comes their way, it's just how it works... Server admins have to clean up the messes they make... Anyways. I'm done here lol. I'm hoping this guy isn't just some fucking troll, maybe some logic will hit him eventually, who knows... Also he said he gave his mates gear, who knows exactly what they did with it? lol... -
I think that's a tad of an exaggeration but still, that's more or less what you want to do, find new servers. Better chances of finding vehicles there. I've still only run into a handful of vehicle spawns and I rarely join servers below US2000 ( The higher the number the newer the server, or at least that's what I've been told. )
-
Try joining newer servers. Basically how it works is that when a vehicle spawns it's given an ID. If a player fixes that vehicle, and stashes it somewhere, the ID sticks and that type of vehicle will not respawn at the vehicle spawn point until it is destroyed. So on older servers the vast majority of stuff is already hidden, and in a lot better hiding spots than anywhere even remotely close to the NWAF. Also I believe when hackers 'spawn' vehicles, nowadays they're mostly just teleporting already existing vehicles, or causing vehicles that hadn't spawned yet to spawn in their original locations and then teleport them to them. If that makes sense lol. Creating a vehicle out of thin air raises more alarms on the server end of things, so most scripts have found other ways to get them. ( This is in response to the guy saying go to a high pop server, chances are you might find a random vehicle kicking around, but there's just as good of a chance as that vehicle being teleported away by a hacker while you're offline. )

The term Hacker was appropriated by the media in the 90s to replace "Malicious Cracker" because some idiots out there would see the word "cracker" as derogatory and possibly racist. Ever since then, the word Hacker has, in about 95% of cases, meant exactly what we're all referring to.... Honestly, I hate seeing people try and mince words. The point is you maliciously altered code in a multiplayer game and it effected other people regardless of how you feel... This isn't a case of black, white, and grey, you are most definitely within the black shade of things here. It's not about being comfortable, It's simply that from the vast majority of peoples perspectives you're wrong. lol. If you were, for instance, constantly invisible, and avoided any contact with anyone, even your 'friends', and you didn't teleport vehicles around, then I could agree that you were in the grey area, and there are others that would still disagree because even those scripts cause server stress and give admins extra work if they are in fact being diligent. ( I ran into an invisible hacker the other day who and I'm not shitting y'all complimented me for being a 'true survivor' the guy had helped me fix up a truck I found, I thought there was just a random glitch because the truck had been missing quite a few parts, and when I came back to it literally two minutes later it was completely fixed up, wasn't full of gas but still had a quarter tank, and it was the Ural Civilian, lots of fuel space etc... The spoke to me about 45 minutes after I found the truck, told me he helped me fix it up and the bit about the true survivor thing, and then nothing. Didn't hear a word out of him afterwards, didn't see him... He was causing server stress by teleporting around and remaining invisible, but that's one of the only examples I could see as being grey. ) At the same time it gave ME an unfair advantage, as I didn't have to spend the half hour it probably would have taken me to fix the truck up... So yeah, It's not a matter of black white and grey, but more about how any little thing you do can effect other people, and if you're effecting other people that's unfair and well, bad. Also, regardless of it being Alpha, it's still a MMO in a sense. You're in a glitchy world, sure, test things out.... but everyone else is in the same environment, and this is the game we have to play, we shouldn't have to deal with other people 'testing' things. One last thing, as far as the argument about alpha being allowed to test things, first of all, these scripts you're using, THEY KNOW ABOUT THEM. You're not HELPING them figure ANYTHING out. At ALL. Seriously. BattleEye exists because this is a mod, the DayZ devolopers have no control over a lot of aspects of the original Arma game, which is where a lot of these scripts target. You're using a bypasser program, essentially wasting the time of the people who are trying to fix things.... You're not helping in any way shape or form, you're simply dragging things down as far as development goes... They try and block access to these scripts, and people like you find ways around their blocks. Thus "Bypasser programs". -
Today I have been legitimally global banned for cheating
Hysterics replied to Thadeum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I sympathize with a lot of what you said, but this one quote kind of irked me. Just because It's in Alpha doesn't mean you should cheat, or that cheating is any less bad. Regardless of how you feel, what you did effected other people, the servers you cheated on, when you "spawn" vehicles, it can teleport peoples already existined and hidden vehicles directly to you. You ran a script, and didn't even know the full effect of it, you only saw the results... Also, when you silently gear up and move to other servers, let's say a bandit comes upon you after you're geared up, the Bandit Vs Survivor aspect is part of this game, regardless of whether you consider it lame, if there was no Pvp it takes a certain risk aspect away from the game, making it more lame. Now, as I was trying to say, you geared up silently then went to other servers, now let's say someone legitimately tried to hunt you down after you geared up, the player would be Pvping, but he wouldn't be cheating, and his chances of taking you out would be drastically reduced due to your hacked gear. I've only ever found a Gps, NightVision and a few of those other nice goodies off of dead bodies, never found them along the NW Airfield or other military area's... It's hard to gather up the amount of gear that a hacker can just script into the game in an instance, and regardless of how you feel it gave you an unfair advantage over other players... Honestly though, you should have given the game more time. I've been here for a few weeks now, and even though I've experienced many of the same things as you, random glitches, zombies going through walls, doors, and all other varieties of bullshit, even through all that I'm still having fun, and you know what, I really doubt I'd be having much fun at all if I could just get exactly what I wanted when I wanted it. Part of the replay value of this game is dealing with all the shit and still persevering. I'm incredibly fast at gearing up now, I know most of the routes to take from any given spawn point in order to gear up fastest and get on my way. I found a Ural Civilian truck the other week and fixed it up, and as you said used it as storage in the wilderness mostly, but how is that a negative thing? Having that storage space added immensely to the continuity of the game, allows you to store a lot more and actually get a feeling of progress... Honestly, I think you jumped the gun in cheating, and while many things frustrate me about this game, it's getting past that frustration and just learning the ins and outs of the game that I find the most entertaining. -
Why are there 0 zombies...

Hysterics posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So I was running across the wilderness trying to get back to something I had been doing across the map, when bam I get teleported into the middle of a random field, but like 50 feet up in the air. So I'm falling and I hit esc, and abort like a second before I'm going to hit the ground, essentially logging me out like 1 foot above ground. So I log back in and fall the 1 foot and take no damage haha... But there are corpses near me, from other victims I assume. So I start running around hoping to catch the script kiddy off gaurd, can't see or hear anything, so I go over and loot the bodies, found some really great stuff lmao, then all of a sudden a guy in a ghillie suit teleports about twenty feet away from me, but facing the opposite direction, so I let off a full clip of AKM ammo into him... Doesn't die. Clearly a god mode hacker right? So I hit esc and alt F4 right as he fires his first bullet, and he missed lol cause I logged into a different server at the same HP. So I didn't really screw him I guess, but I wasted his time and made him look like a fucking tool. If he hadn't been god mode like a complete pussy I would have actually killed him too lol... -
Just screwed a hacker and feel like an absolute champ right now
Hysterics replied to Hysterics's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not that anyone cares, but I ended up going back to the server I got hacked on, found the dead bodies again, looted them again, and this time retained the items... Got a 24slot backpack, That Anti Material Sniper Rifle, a silenced M4 with 10 rounds of SD ammo, Nightviison, GPS, and some other goodies.... Yeah I'm doing good. Best part is the area he teleported me to is the area I was trying to get to anyways.... lol.... Never had a hack attempt end up benefiting me. -
Just screwed a hacker and feel like an absolute champ right now
Hysterics replied to Hysterics's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I didn't actually alt f4, I just hit esc and waited until I was just about at the ground to hit abort.... I figured I was screwed either way and worth a shot trying it. Also I wasted time looting those corpses, the few items I did manage to grab disappeared. Awesome! Also to the guy taking a crap, nice. I guess you don't get hacked much or something eh, cause this shit is sorta frustrating, and coming out alive after being hacked by someone who goes as far as using god mode feels pretty good, thanks for trying to rain on my parade though, you're just the type of bitter no life that uses hacks in the first place. Have a nice day though, sir. I've read up on hacks a bit, god mode hacks are one of the harder ones to hide. So the guy is putting himself at a much higher risk of being banned than the average hacker. If he hadn't been putting himself at that much risk, I would have killed him and ended his little spree. I also managed to loot a GPS, Nightvision, and a few other goodies off the corpse, so I was initially pretty stoked. ( After logging into another server those items disappeared, but I'm just pointing out the reasons I felt that I had a victory, albeit a minor one. ) And ya I didn't screw him over, but I probably gave him a scare. :P -
Hacking is getting out of hand.
Hysterics replied to MrShifty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're a server admin, when you get hacked, there's something concrete you can do about it. Some way to channel the frustration of losing hours and hours of gameplay on a regular basis due to that bullshit. The majority of players, well they love the game, but being hacked fucking constantly, every few hours, even on low population servers......... It's driving a lot of us nuts. It's probably a big part of why so many hackers are out there, half of the hackers nowadays probably only got hacks because they were sick of being hacked, not that it's an excuse lol, but ya.... Vicious cycle. -
Hacking is getting out of hand.
Hysterics replied to MrShifty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Honestly, it's more that I can't play for five hours without getting teleported into an ocean, or 100 feet into the air, or simply instakilled while in a spot you couldn't even be sniped in. I've looked at some of the hack websites, the list of shit they can do with those scripts is literally endless. Anything you could imagine them doing, they can do it. Some things get them noticed faster, but the simple truth to it is that BattleEye can be COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY blocked by those script kiddies. It's two parts. There are the scripts, then there is the BattleEye bypassers. You need a current bypasser to avoid being banned, but even then Server Admins are able to look through logs and notice scripts, and ban them from individual servers, the server I play on, when the admin is online, I see about 10-20 people get banned, every, single, time. It's disgusting how many people hack. It almost seems like the average player nowaday hacks, people who aren't even teleporting around or spawning vehicles, they just use the really hard to notice hacks that spawn legitimate weapons and ammo. It's fucking ridiculous how many people hack. Personally I considered it myself, not to grief people, but more in order to prevent myself from being griefed. Like I actually found a legit Ural Civ the other week, fixed it up, and had a hacker screw me over and make me lose the truck. I was so frustrated, those things are so hard to find and I've always wanted one, I finally find it and bam I get some fucking script kiddie screwing with me. So I considered getting a script myself, and replacing my Truck. But I didn't... I don't want to be part of the problem. -
It's more unbelievable that a hacker would spawn those weapons, but not the ammo for them.
-
here's my help in the form of advice; find some zombies asap. Honestly, chances are you find someone here and they morphine your leg as a joke, because they shoot you the second you stand up and take your shit. Seriously unless you can find a friend you know and trust, don't waste your time trying to meet up with people... It sounds bad but this is from experience. Cheers and good luck to you.
