can't see the server but my friends can
liquidje replied to SporHet's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
So you are having troubles with epoch? Why are you asking in the SA forums? -
fps issues after trying to fix. please help
liquidje replied to sortadrunk's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Oh yeah, that one too. The gtx 760 is on par with the gtx 660Ti, so pick whichever you like (look up some benchmarks for comparisons). The 760 is newer, but newer is not always better (for example, your gtx610 is worse than a high end gtx5##, and probably even a high-end gtx4##. Radeon is the newest model. To be honest, whichever you pick will more or less be a matter of taste and which one "feels" right. There are small variations in price and performance though. It's hard to pick one over the other. If you need anything let me know. I'm sure you will be very happy with your new upgrade :) -
fps issues after trying to fix. please help
liquidje replied to sortadrunk's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Best bang for your bucks is r270x for around $250 based on amazon (I'm from the Netherlands, I don't really know the regular prices in the US). If you want to go Nvidia get the 660 (Ti), which is on par. -
fps issues after trying to fix. please help
liquidje replied to sortadrunk's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Sorry, but I am afraid your graphics card is not gonna cut it. It is a new series (GTX6##), but the slowest model, which is really designed mainly for general usage and play some light games. Unfortunately, DayZ is not a light game, it is very demanding. Either upgrade your graphics card or live with the framerate. I am actually surprised you can even maintain that framerate. I don't know how you'll manage frameratewise in the cities though. To maybe push a few more frames per second out of it download the newest drivers from nvidia and set the game as low as possible. -
Quite idealistic. It would probably be something like: A: "Wanna duel?" B: "Sure!" A: "Ok we face eachothers back anad then walk ten steps from eachother, then turn around and shoot, I'll count! One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, Sev...." B: "LoL" *Loots body* :P

Could we have servers that don't respawn loot?
liquidje replied to Iain365's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Read his post, he suggests some kind of tournament mode, not just disable loot respawns. I also like the idea :) -
Do you people don't have anything better to do when society is colapsing? :P I see bandit tactics from this system, but hey, I am interested to see it. Get that FRAPS/OBS recording and post it here :D

As far as I know you can. Even so, if it doesn't work you can always verify file integrity through Steam. Next just try it out for yourself. Move files somewhere else, run the game, see what happens. Takes less time than posting on the forums.

I don't like what current state of player interaction has turned into
liquidje replied to DannyFilming's topic in General Discussion
Could be confused, don't know the controls, don't know English, etc. You can't judge "the current state" on one single encounter... -
The problem is you assume there are just 2 kinds of people and you make assumptions about what they want. How about the people who want PvE, but are quite paranoid because of high-value loot they carry? How about griefers? How about roleplayers? And playing 100 hours before starting the 'real' game is redicilous. If you are interested in some other games as well, work and don't play games every waking hour you are free, 100 hours of gameplay is incredible large. Also, what do you think bandits (not griefers, legitimate bandits) will do when they want something, which is available on a server that is also relatively low on hostility? They own the place. The game has to be in balance in that regard. Read around the forums how many people entered "no KoS" servers and where killed. Why? Because those servers are the best places to be a bandit.

Some things never change. Stranger Danger in Elektro
liquidje replied to chernojourno's topic in Gallery
While I probably would not have shot you, I think they were a bit on edge on how happy you were. Also standing in the corner probably made them hestitate a bit as well? -
[Suggestion] Sound mechanics which reflects human senses better
liquidje replied to Ken Bean's topic in General Discussion
It's not that easy, that requires a lot of additional checks taking up resources. Even so, why the whole elaborate coughing/sound mechanism? If we are wasting resources to 3rd person visibility checks, I'd rather have them hide the other player altogether for the 3rd person player. -
So... you dont have the same problem?
-
Alpha is for functionality, Beta is for content. I really think there are many other issues which are far more important. Also adding a new weapon will not change gameplay much, compared to fixing the issues at hand.

Wierd computer shutting down in the menus! PLEASE HELP!
liquidje replied to BloodBagBandits's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Check temps (using speedfan or similar), check power supply (using multimeter in a molex connector, or again speedfan or similar), test RAM (memtest). If you have it with other games as well, the issue is not with the game, but with your PC. Doesnt hurt to check if everything is up to date as well. -
Dude, what "should" is not how it is, and frankly many people seem to disagree with you how it "should" be. That said, the way it actually is, is that you lose your server, period. This is not up for discussion, has been confirmed numerous times, why are you making a discussion out of a point there is nothing to discuss about? Link: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-server-reporting/ I really don't understand what is so hard to follow about this. Servers are available for rent, IF people follow the rules. Apparantly, many people find this agreement interesting. Also, most people with a bit of insight in the mechanics of the game understand WHY you can't ban just because someone does not follow your rule. So why should Rocket remove rentable servers, because the renters (who are fine with the rules apparantly) cannot be the boss in their own server? Read up man, ask someone hosting a server, maybe he can make you understand how this works. Seriously, I am getting kind of fed up with people barging in into these threads, don't read ANYTHING and just spray their opinion around. There have been several posts in this thread that "it is YOUR server", well bollocks, thanks for nothing.

PSA: If you put "No KoS" in the title of your server, I'm going to favorite it and stop in every day to kill at least one person
liquidje replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
I don't intend to insult, if you took it as an insult I am sorry. You insult just for the kicks of it. Unintelligent 12 year olds? Who is assumptious now? Second, again, this game is different. Those games had no public hive, and even if games had a public shared server for character progress, it was probably on an entirely different scale. The point is, you may not enforce "no KoS", so banning for that is not adequate. If you can not grasp that concept, please read Rocket his posts concerning his plans and vision for the game. It is a great read and gives a better insight why things are done like they are. Again, any attempts for constructive argument from my side (Is KoS the problem, or freshspawns? What is your solution?) is burried under insults. Read your own post and determine who is condescending. -

liquidje replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
Thats great for you, I dont understand tho how the game is that broken if you enjoy "the fuck out of it". And well, your posts do indicate otherwise. You seem to not understand the implications of admins being able to manage their own servers. You call the sandbox aspect which most players love a bad system. you call things utterly retarded because "it is not how other games do it". And thanks for calling me an ass, actually going into discussions with users is usually harder but much more rewarding than calling names. The lack of respect in your communications do not encourage me to enter any discussion with the likes of you. What do you think should actually be done to solve the problem? And is KoS the problem, or killing freshspawns? Maybe if you would just post a bit more elaborate instead of insults... -

liquidje replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
That's because this game is not like any other game. If you want this game to be like another game, why don't skip a link and just get that other game? If you think the game is broken because KoS is a valid playstyle: it is not broken, this is by design. Lazy development choices? Have you not read the THIS GAME IS ALPHA part when buying, launching, reading the forums, posting here, searching here etc? Why do I even bother: you don't get the game and probably got it under the wrong expectations. @Noisex: I have no source. But you can make a server saying "no KoS". However, you are not allowed to ban people for KoS. When starting a server you enter an agreement in which you are not allowed to ban as you see fit. This is necessary to maintain balance and get a level playing field for everyone on every server (since they can mix because of the public hive) -
[Suggestion] Stop Combat Loggers and ALT-F4'ers

I cant imagine NOT finding results when using the search... -
I think the point is that people want this game to be things the original creator does not consider the core gameplay. Plus the game is sandbox, you can do anything you like within the rules, which are basically: - no racism - no hacking - the limits imposed due to the game mechanics So yeah, you are allowed to start a server and call it PvE. However, you are also allowed to enter these servers and wreak havoc. Same goes for in game: you can get some territory of 1 x 1 km and call it a weapon free zone and have happy gatherings with players, but don't expect people to respect those rules. I did not make the rules. I would not enter a PvE server to grief people. But I really like it that the game still enables other to do so, especially considering the advantages PvE players have over PvP players.

I dont understand what is so bad about taking money for streaming. You make something and people enjoy it enough to pay for it (meaning: sitting through ads). If somebody can and is willing to do the same for less ads/free, they can do so and probably be more popular. I don't see how streaming is immoral, but for example buying and selling products like any retailer does is.

I think you get it wrong. Yeah it is quite douchy, and most of us don't agree with the practice. However, there is no definite way to prevent it (the things SmashT mentions will make it harder tho without breaking the game for others, so that would be a good alternative). We can ask people not to do it, but that is it!

Can We Get A "Sorry, but playing the SA on your laptop isn't going to be fun." Sticky?
liquidje replied to terminal_boy's topic in New Player Discussion
That is only when you erroneously assume that a gtx550M is as fast as a gtx550. But true, giving reliable system specs which are easy for noobs has always been hard to do. I don't think DayZ should try to change the world in this aspect tho'. -
If a server name reads PvE server, it actually means "easy target practice". Joining these servers and being naive is actually worse and gets you killed faster than just going to a regular server. edit: with them. I understand OP just didn't know. Tip to OP: get away from the coast immediately. There are less people there and therefore more loot.
