    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

If you mean this post: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/155643-why-is-this-not-in-the-game-yet/ I can explain. People agree with you that hopping/ghosting is bad. However, you come with a solution, and some people don't like this solution. This is not fanboy, I don't like your idea either. Also, not only do you provide your solution as THE solution, you think it is should be implemented as fast as possible, which is quite weird to do in an alpha. The goal is developping the game in the long run, not give players a more enjoyable experience in the short term (however, with these release models it is usually a combination of the two). Also, you started thread #100 or so about it. Use the search and merge your point with another thread. If you run into a specific problem twice, chances are you are not the only one experiencing them, so search!

Idea to stop farming on emty server

Rather not. However I do think something needs to be done against this. Yesterday I saw a server which restarts every 2 minutes and is 24/7 day. I'm fairly sure it is just for looting the shit out of it.

    "It's an alpha."

QFT. Same goes for specific functions like tents. We know tents (or something similar) will be implemented. I think it is the way people communicate it as well. Mainly this problem comes from three causes: 1. People do not use the search 2. People complain (sometimes quite rude) rather than support 3. People do not understand the game Usually the bulk of the "it's in alpha" arguments are because the topic starter is in one of these categories, or all of them. Examples for each: 1. requesting functions or raving about bugs reported/discussed on multiple occasions. If somebody reports a bug in another thread, we don't need a second one. Especially if there is no additional information and it is just complaining. 2. The people complaining the get KoS'ed (and not come with solutions, or solutions related to 3). Especially the people who fail the understand EA and rave about "I did not pay for this PoS", especially when it is concernign core mechanics (again, see 3). 3. People keep suggesting crap not in line with the general idea of the mod. Punishing people who KoS, wanting no PvP, etc. While sometimes the yelling of "it's an alpha" is tiresome, more often than not it is true, albeit a bit short. edit: also, I forgot. Some people don't mention a problem, but also provide a solution, and think their specific solution should get the highest priority. In these cases I also understand yelling "alpha!"

    Server hoppers: A renewable resource.

The problem is that at this moment, several features affecting ghosting/hopping mentality still are not fully functional, most notable the loot respawns. I hope it will reduce ghosting/hopping. I played DayZ with a logout timer and to be honest, I really liked it. But before we can think about such mechanics, the current have to be working to fully assess the situation.

    What are we actually testing?

If you think you pay for a server so you have VIP spots, then at this moment you do not understand why anyone should host. You rent the server for helping development and because you want to contribute to it. Nowhere were VIP spots promised from the get-go.

    Bullet Speed for sniper rifles?

Damage != Speed. Sorry, was at work, so a little distracted. What I actually wanted to say that even BF3 accounts for bullet speed ;)

    Bullet Speed for sniper rifles?

It would only be fair to share your "easier way of sniping". For example, I know some estimates, but I'm not giving it away for free. Let's be honest: I would hate to give you the numbers and get sniped in the head tomorrow because of that.

    Day/Time synch

Maybe, for the time being, with something like AutoIt (or batchfiles, if rcon accepts command line commands) you can automate this, saving you the trouble of logging in four times a day for a server reset. Should save you some time!
  9. Please do go ahead and continue to speak for me and the rest of the DayZ community. I enjoy the pace of DayZ. As its a 'slow burn' game' date=' waiting a few minutes or so to disconnect won't phase me as. Just alt-tab and carry on with something else. [/quote'] Fuck it, I'm done. Either you don't understand my post, or you really don't take the time to read it, or you are a troll. Yeah, again I'm speaking for you. If you read my post, I clearly state that some point will eventually be reached. Not at a few minutes, but how about 10? Or 20? Or 30? or 60? Or 2 hours? I don't care, this is explained in my post in detail, but still you seem to take a post of 20 sentenced and just focus on half a sentence. I'm out. And please don't confuse me with TS. Even so, though his idea was not that great, at least he contributes to some form of discussion and does not take some tl;dr approach.
  10. Nice of you to think with us! Some constructive input is useful. It could work more or less' date=' but as Rocket already stated: actual full-blown reserved slot functionality (or something similar) will be coming someday. However, for now he focusses more on new functionalities and optimizing scripts, and some balancing. Looking at his programming style, I highly doubt a placeholder system like this would be made: both systems would require changing some major stuff in the code of ArmA II iirc. And again, don't get me wrong, I understand the issue and devs as well. But since the game is still Alpha there is so much to do for Rocket and there is only so much time available, so he has too prioritize. However, as I tried to point out before: he is working on it, but for not server admins will have to cope with the situation, and especially NOT kick for making place. I understand some admins do not like this, however there are many other admins (and future admins) which do NOT mind it in this point in developing. So for now it is just like that, and if people really disagree they should contact the staff instead of Rocket. And probably they will say the same: either accept or stop hosting, this is how it is at this point. Again: [b']this will be changed in the future. Also I don't really understand: this is just one of the rules admins have to agree on. They have been informed on all the rules and requirements and probably have accepted these as well: else they can't connect to the hyve. Ergo, at some point the server owner must have agreed to these terms to not have the priviledge of reserved slots or kicking problems. Complaining afterwards is a bit unfair.
  11. No I'm not. Goddamn it READ my COMPLETE post. You focus on TWO sentences. The first one you quote is followed up by: I will explain one last time. Short cooldown time (for example 15 seconds, a minute) means: + survivors are not irritated by the system - loot hoppers will not be demotivated enough: they probably don't care about waiting for a few seconds or even a few minutes. Long cooldown time (for example 15 seconds, a minute) means: + Loot hoppers will be more demotivated to conduct their business - survivors are irritated by the system At what point a short time becomes long is debatable, the point is there is some trade-off and I heavily question there is a decent trade-off to achieve both goals (not pissing off survivors, but prohibiting loot hopping). There will be a point at which even you will be annoyed. This is different per player and could be analyzed. However, I think you AT LEAST need 5 or 10 minutes to demotivate loot hoppers enough (as for example 15 seconds or a minute is not that long of a time to wait), but waiting 10 minutes can be extremely annoying for some survivors. Whether these are 5% of the survivors or 50% I don't know, and at what "share of survivors" we give a fuck I don't know either. But I think that there is no cooldown to achieve both goals. (not pissing off survivors, but prohibiting loot hopping). And please for the love of God, Allah, Biggie, Elvis or what other being you worship, READ MY FREAKING POSTS BEFORE COMMENTING AND SAYING I AM CONTRADICTING.
  12. Oh and to throw in your post now: You don't see ANYTHING wrong with this post? You don't picture a little fat child stomping around his room because his parents did not want to buy a PS3? I can see your native language is not English (I'm not bashing you for that tho'), but the way you post is very, very anti-social towards the devs. And seriously, what do you know about me? I'm finishing my master thesis right now, and I could literally spare enough money for 2 or 3 servers as I work my as off at my job. Why I don't hire 2 or 3 servers? I don't have much time for playing, and I haven't touched DayZ for over 2 weeks. Even so, I am highly interested in the game and the (gamplay) discussions combined with it. I find the discussion at least as fascinating from a game design perspective. This coupled with the effort to set up a server and the waiting times, I decided not to support this project financially right now. Don't tell me shit about my income, I support enough indie games as it is, especially considering the fact I'm a student. Still, if one of the game communities I am active in would propose to rent a server, I would be happy to pitch in. But hey, nice. I tried to also be informative and have some content in my post, but I'm glad to see you don't share the same intentions, as all you can do is complain and not get into specifics. Even now you are complaining about a feature which is actually planned in the near future. If you are complaining that it takes too long: I'm sorry, this is an independent mod project, shit works differently. E
  13. What your hosting company says is not relevant at ALL. They only get extra work because server owners complain about issues which are CLEARLY outlined in all the relevant threads for server admins. You are complaining about something you should have known from the beginning. If you missed it, that's your own problem. There are many requests for servers still being processed, so cocky admins who don't have patience for an ALPHA MOD to develop these kind of secondary features are not helping at all. You want to play a mod which is being alpha tested right now as a full-fledged game. Grow up. You sound like a 12-year old with "if we want it then give it to us" and "we are paying for it!"

is Rocket giving up on Dayz?

No, Rocket is faking his working on DayZ in the update threads. This is his elaborate scheme to leave the project and spend the rest of his days enjoying his accumulated tears: of course including the tears from people crying he left DayZ. But I don't think he is giving up, No. I haven't heard rumours and even if he gave up, looking at the time he put into promoting DayZ at the E3 he would probably only look for another platform for DayZ.

    "Hey, I know you!"

This. I don't have anything to add then saying "I agree with X", so I just sit back and lurk in this thread to see if I can contribute anything. For now: GREAT suggestion thread. Even if this idea is not implemented: looking at the positive reactions, I shall use it to disprove those whining "people only bitch about others ideas on these forums, why don't you guys like the 500th repetition of this 20-words long idea description, which at least contains the words 'maybe', 'what if' and 'like' ". God, this thread should be the example of "How should a suggestion thread look like?"
  16. Personally I object because of the reasons posted by others: abusing the system to find out enemies. Also, a whole friend-system to just make it not possible to disconnect near other people is absurd. Finally, I don't agree with your calculations, as players are not spread evenly across the map. The disconnect timer also does not work, as you state correctly. I myself stilll find the best systems the one which checks whether you are fleeing from some threat or combat (which this system is trying to solve): 1. Check for zombies aggro'd on player currently 2. Check for shots fired by player in the past few seconds/minutes 3. Check if player has been hurt in the past few seconds/minutes 4. Check if bullets have impact near the player in the past few seconds/minutes If everything is false, you can disconnect. Specifics should really be analyzed as it has to be balanced. Specific reasons and time durations could maybe dictate a timer when you still want to force disconnect. The only real problems here with most disconnect issues are the problems posed with alt-f4, power outtage, internet fuck-up and what-not. It is a fine balance between in favor of the disconnecter and the disconnectee. I'm afraid there is no real solution where disconnecters (because of power outtage for example) are not punished, but alt-f4 disconnecters do, as there is no way to tell the game apart. However, I do think that with a mild timer, and when the game and servers are more stable, it should be implemented at some moment in the future. People with shitty internet or instable PCs should not be accounted for imho.
  17. Probably talking about admin abuse on BE1.

Unlock new skins by staying alive longer

In most threads, people start with an idea, and that idea is shaped into a better idea or disregarded as a whole. This is a forum, where conversation from different parties and opinions take place. It's not some venting system where you just dump your idea and people may not comment about it. And this is for me an idea which achieves its goal through by-effect. Noobs are already recognizable by their weapons. Also, you can't recognise people their intentions from their looks in real life. I do agree that it would be welcoming to have some more variations in models to better recognize people. However, a more simple and more effective solution would be to just customize skin at respawning.

    Video settings

Yes it is. Check the Performance Improvement threads, there they state usually which settings have the most impact. Your thread is totally unclear on what you want, and it seems that you rather have other people telling you what to do instead of looking it out yourself, without putting the effort into precisely stating what you exactly want. Your OP of 1 sentence is proof enough.

White flag / HERE I AM

That shit gets you killed... lots of shit gets you killed, this shit might save your life when you have no friends IRL, because you always get the urge to carve a little Z in their forehead and youre near the hospital with 700 blood. The point is it wouldn't work like that. I agree with Rilenz, you either run into Bandits who don’t care about it, or Bandit’s will abuse it to get people to come to them. And yeah, some bandits also call for help in side chat to deceive people. And at the point that wearing the white flag could get you shot, and the fact that someone with a white flag is in no way a guarantee that the person is friendly or not, you end up with the system just not working (people shoot white flaggers, or white flaggers are NOT friendly) I guess.

    felt really bad q.q

Well there is some chance, several weeks ago there was another servers which got some agreement with the staff for filming purposes. So yeah, as long as you know you really, really can't lock down a server even during low-population periods: it would be a shame if you get blacklisted for that. So, let us know how it is going and when the server is up, so we can play!
