I'm not very pc literate, just stubborn, i don't like stuff to beat me. You should be able to tell your mate what to put where over Skype, its not hard. :)

I launch through DayZcommander but still need to set that up in Steam for Dayz or Lingor, different line for each. Try it you might be lucky if you never did it for DayZ :)

Yes but just make sure you stick this in the "Set Launch Options" of Steam, if your using it. Library left click Arma 2 OA - Properties. -nosplash -mod=@DayZ;@dayz_lingor;@dayz_lingor_island One or two guides i read/watched didn't have this quite right and leaves you unable to play.

Played last night, didn't find much loot, more buildings to enter, zombies just as easy to kill, hackers every where all on a tropical island. Its ok i guess... :) I'd say stick with Chernarus until you learn the game/map etc etc. Although one good thing about Lingor, or at least what i played, is that side chat is on and it feels a lot more sociable.

UK120 UK122 seem pretty full most nights if my memeory serves me well, UK135 has a good bunch of lads on, TS is 94.242.227.2:9993, not alway full though. Might just be me but 120 and 122 are giving me 10000 pings at the mo? :huh: Dayzcommander only showing one uk server with 30 players at the moment and thats running Lingor, although it is still early.

I tried being nice and failed, raged and killed the next few idiots that came across me. Now I'm trying to be nice again but Jeez man, I'd have shot this burk in the face as soon as he followed me around the second corner. :P

There's a few reasons for me leaving:- Bugs, kinda grates getting killed by yet another tree. This stops me from trying to play the long game, what's the point if at any minute I could die a silly and pointless death. Hackers, the incidents are starting to mount. Folk breaking your legs or teleporting behind you to kill you. I've been lucky to from stories I've read, most have suffered more than me. Boredom, if you take out the focus to survive because of the above, dayz grows old quite quickly playing on your own. You spawn, grab loot, die rince and repeat. It's truly amazing for a while but once the panic and nervous feelings leave you the interest in playing, for me at least, wanes. I tried Lingor Island last night and it feels more sociable because side chat is open but essentially its the same game. There are more hackers in Lingor it would seem. While I'm looking forward to the standalone, it's gonna need a lot more content to keep me playing.

Some of those guide are either hard to follow if your not really computer literate or in the case of a YouTube video i watched yesterday, just plain wrong. While it's second nature to some, some of us just starting out installing and running mods, actually find it quite frustrating. Although when i realised the error on my own I was chuffed to bits lol :P

When I installed using DayZcommander all the mods were checked, it was the launch line, that I got off youtube, in Steam that was wrong. Didn't include the Lingor Island file name, hence all the missing files.

I had a similar problem with my Steam install, it was the launch line in steam that was wrong. I'm at work so don't know the exact line but the @dayz_lingor_island was missing. Once I added that it was fine, just look in the folder with the files in, copy the folder names exactly with a ; in between after the - no splash- mod=. Sorry I can't be exact, would of copy and paste it here if at home. Add the line after right clicking arma 2 oa, properties, launch "something or other" Sorry if this is all to vague.

I was having trouble with the Steam install, the Launch line i got off the Internet was wrong. It didn't include @dayz_lingor_island, you see loads of players having the same problem. I was lucky I realised, other than that DayZcommander worked a treat. :)

You could just remove the @dayz etc line in the launch box in steam!

I've found a few and a chopper on the big island in the south east.

I usually skip straight to the airfield then on to Cherno, will watch this with interest tonight. :)

It is nice, that after reading all the guff about gfx cards etc, you find out you've made a well informed decision. :)

I did last night but get kicked from the lobby as soon as it loads in?

I'm guessing these are just game modes in arma 2 and not mods? Every time I've looked at the mp it just seems like a few Co op missions, then when you join the players are 6k away lol. I wouldn't mind playing the sp in Co op, it's a bit dull on your own.

I would try find a map first fella, very easy to get lost I am the woods. :P

I've installed Lingor via DayZcommander but every time I launch from a server in DayZcommander i get into the lobby but only for a second or two, then I get kicked back to the main menu. I don't get any error codes etc. Anyone got any ideas?
