  1. A moment ago on DE 4-77 server I had an encounter with an actual... hero. I was observing Electro, full geared, waiting for my pal. Suddenly I hear a step behind me - there's a dude, pointing his gun at me. "Don't move, stay where you are", he said. "I don't want to kill you". I told him I can give him my medicine and food. But he just ordered me to keep lying until he's gone and he disappeared in the woods. It was my first encounter with a hero-style playing dude. Insipiring. I guess I'll have to wear jeans and white shirt and do more good shit around :) EDIT: On the other hand, maybe he had no ammo in his .45? Nah. I prefer to believe he was just a good guy.
  2. Just a moment ago I had a fun encounter. Elektro suburbs. Middle of the day. My mate spots a random guy with a hatchet and some gear on him (not a bambi). He flanks him, I chase him and tell to stop and surrender. He tries to run. I shoot his legs and tell him to stop. He turns and makes a move towards me with his hatchet. I aim at his head and order him to stop again. "Last chance", I say. He does as I command and surrenders. My mate aims at him, I come closer. I open my inventory and take out some sterile bandages. I treat the guys wounds. He apologizes for not complying earlier. I cuff him. I look through his backpack, take a bottle of medicine. I uncuff him and tell him he's free to go. The poor guy stood there for a minute until he finally moved and ran away. This encounter gave me hope that in fact there are still some players, who won't alt+f4 at you. There are other players, who want to survive.
  3. Oh, really? 5 seconds on google, here you go: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/justice-story/teen-girl-fatally-bullied-indiana-house-horrors-article-1.1309751 World is an awful place. Wake up.
  4. Well, I'd rather live with the consequences of my choice, than die out of thirst or hunger. If you're a father, I'm sure you'd kill anybody if they would pose threat to your children. Or to secure food, drink or medicine they need to survive. I'm one of the lucky guys who never killed anybody else. I do not know how I would handle it. But I know there are plenty who handle it pretty well. Also, when there is no law, there is also no crime. Let me use an example: Have you ever heard of school bullies? Why do they grief upon the weaker? Why do they rob them of their stuff? Because they know they won't be punished. As people grow older, they start to realise that there's a law and they might end up in jail. For 13 y.o. law is an abstract thing. Also, they think they have enough power to intimidate their victims, so the authorities won't be noticed. If you'd depenalize murder, I assure you you'd see the murder count rising and rising. It's the law that keeps the world in place. During an apocalypse, complete anarchy, the only rule is the rule of the fittest. Now, please, read the link I gave you and have a proof. These are all examples of incidents/experiments when the law was "turned off". People went mad. Bullying, stealing, raping, murdering. Welcome to the real world.
  5. You are so innocent. That's cute. Now: read and learn. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanford_prison_experiment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City_blackout_of_1977 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_police_strike http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_disturbances_and_military_action_in_New_Orleans_after_Hurricane_Katrina#Civil_disturbances
  6. Well. I can understand that. Elektro's full of weapons. I'm a good guy, so I usually fire a few shots in the air and tell the new spawns to go away. If they follow me - I give them a final warning. If they're still around - they hit the floor. You ask: why? Because once I've ended with an axe in my spine, when I let one of the bambis wander around me. It's just about safety.
  7. Well, how about... a chance to survive? I've never hurt a player's character who has surrendered. Mostly I don't even take their stuff away - unless I need them badly (like some medicine, or food if hungry). I guess about 70% of players who I ambush try to run or fight instead of comply. None of them managed to survive. 5% are bums, who logout as soon as they realise they're trapped. Today I even gave away some stuff to one guy, who behaved nicely. A week ago I've managed to... save a wise player, who surrendered to a bandit. You miss tons of experience by logging out or doing suicidal moves. Avoiding other human beings, constant fear of getting shot or robbed are the ESSENTIAL elements of a survival sim in a zombie apocalypse world. I value my every new "life". Trying to stay alive as long as I can. The only pleasure I get from killing someone else is when it saved my own life. I bet lots of people who KoSed you and others actually did it because they felt threatened, needed food or drink badly, needed to scavange for supplies in the town they spot you in. After all it's all about survival. Finally, if someone cuffs you and torture's you afterwards... well - it's their way to play the game LEGITIMATELY. And whoever hits alt+f4 in to avoid such a situation is in fact cheating.
  8. It could be, if you'd stop crying and hitting alt+f4 every time you spot someone armed better than you o_O
  9. This obviously isn't a game for you. DayZ is supposed to be a simulator of a zombie apocalypse. Life isn't fair and your "fake" life in a PC game is not to be fair as well. Learn some survival skills, think of what you've done wrong if you die and try again. What's the purpose of playing a survival sim if the "alt+f4" is your only tool to "survive"? You are pathetic.
  10. Yeah. When you realise you won't EVER be punished for your actions, it would be probably even worse.
  11. You bet it. If you'd like a real-life example, google what happened during long blackouts in large cities or what was happening during some natural disasters in the South America. People murdered, raped, robbed eachother. It was put to the end very fast, thanks to the armed forces and the police, but now imagine - there's no government left. Welcome, to the apocalypse.

    System to Punish KoS

It's not for you to decide what is fun for other players. I can assure you, that if there would be a real-life apocalypse, many people would end up KoSed. But this is a game and fortunately... you can all hit the respawn button and enjoy the game.
  13. People like you ruin the game experience for others. Hopefully they'll add logout timer soon, so guys like you will have to face consequences of whatever in-game decision you made.
  14. Elektro. No fps drop like the one in Cherno and a lot of places to loot.
  15. Would be more "impressing" if you'd actually let the guy go after all of this.
  16. Well, it's your style and I respect it. I prefer not to by the one being surprised by enemy.
  17. If you don't want to get shot by bandits, you just need to be more careful. Yesterday I've posted a short guide, that would help you stay alive longer: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158206-tips-for-green-survivors-pvp-kos/ Stay safe.
  18. You got lucky, that's all. Imagine that: You are 5 metres away from another guy. He wields axe. You - an empty rifle. He decides to "go for it" and he "has nothing to lose" mentality. You can't fire your gun, nor defend with a buttstock. You are dead. I said "8) When surprised and without chance to run/defend - give up." If you have a chance to run (i.e. your opponent is not armed with a gun, the environment would provide cover from the enemy fire etc.) - do it. If not - give up. There's no point in risking being shot in the back. You can also go and fight but... most people have their guns loaded. Do you get it know? :)
  19. It's useful only if you're practicing banditry. If you are playing a "good guy" having an empty rifle on your back will bring you nothing but trouble. EDIT: I wouldn't be surprised if that gun of yours wasn't the thing these players were after. One time you're lucky, next time you end with a hatchet in your spine.
  20. Nice, considering there are no DMRs in the game yet ;) ;) ;)
  21. I wish that the Devs will find some peace and rest during Christmas and have their batteries recharged to do even more awesome shit. Merry X-mas, Dev Team!
  22. You want a ceasefire? Turn off your PC and spend some time with your family. Just like many other people, who want some peace during Christmas. If you decide to play DayZ on Christmas morning, it's your choice and don't expect anyone to be more peaceful than usual. Game is a game, life is life.
