I'd much rather the Can I Run It thread. It's not a yes/no thread... It's a thread for people to discuss system specs in a very general sense, how to improve upon them and how it will cope with DayZ. That is far more valuable than being told by a pre-determined answer.

Think of it like Don't Starve. You survive, and survive, and survive... and once you've cocked up and popped your clogs, you can hit the forums up and brag about just how long you survived. Character death is inevitable. It's how long you can delay it for, that makes things interesting.

This is the problem - coastal spawn is so easy to identify where you are. A suggestion: perhaps on first login, you are not told your location in the bottom right-hand corner as you spawn with no map, and the location is completely random (be it all over the map, or a couple of km inland..). Only once you have obtained a map on your character, can you log in and have your location anchored with the text in the bottom right-hand corner? -
That's what one of my team-mates said, anyway. I had the files already before I knew it was compatible with the Musty servers.

This. DayZ Commander offers a lot of decent functions, I find. Easy pipeline updates for all the mods of DayZ mod, as well as ArmA Beta Updates, DayZ source code updates and the option to download additional mods to use alongside DayZ (such as JSRS Sound Pack [which I recommend to everyone reading this]) Maybe Six does these as well, but as previously mentioned, I can't stand it - the interface makes me want to chunder.

What's the harm of making it a possibility though? Spawn in with a great location? Sweet. That's still no gaurantee that there will be top-end loot nearby. Combining KoS' suggestion of a mechanic where you don't spawn within a certain range of a player, with perhaps another mechanic where loot in your vicinity at spawn isn't high-end, or something? There are ways of making a totally random spawn location work. -

I'm 100% on the side of making spawn completely and utterly random. Spawning on the coast doesn't specifically need to be fitting to the storyline of DayZ. You could create any justification for the spawning of your character anywhere...
