The reason that I vent from time to time on these forums isn't because a member has less posts, or because they've only been on the forums for a week. It's because I've just read a post/topic that has brought nothing new to the forums, or revolves around wild speculation and generally annoying content related to the Standalone. Never agreed with the whole "STFU YOU'VE ONLY GOT 20 POSTS" attitude some people have displayed before.

Looks pretty good to me. You've got a good set of base components there, so you're not bottlenecking yourself at all. Can OC that i7 if you need the extra performance also, but I'd expect it will perform just fine. Maybe look at updating your GPU as a next step! edit; just realised you're going for 16gb RAM? That's pretty excessive. 8gb@ 1600mhz should do just fine, if you wanted to allocate the saved money elsewhere!

It's all dependant on the amount of money I get to fund it all from my bonus. I suppose I could increase the SSD if the funds allow... My primary concern is the whole HD7970 GHz Edition vs R9 280x arguement. I hear that the 7970 GHz Edition can out-do the R9 280x in terms of potential overclocking. Failing that, in the future I could probably just Crossfire 2x HD7970's. That'd pack a punch I suppose.

People have deterred too far from Vanilla. Granted, the lack of features in Vanilla drove the creation of sub-mods like DayZ Epoch and DayZ Aftermath. However, what you need to remember is that there's probably a large number of people who went straight to Epoch and the like; never experienced DayZ as it was meant to be played. Standalone will be fucking harsh. There won't be safe-zones. There won't be generous opportunities and it will require a whole new mentality to be adopted for your character to survive. Quite honestly, it's gonna seperate the men from the boys, the women from the girls and the pre-op transvestites from the full-blown ladyboys - that level of challenge will definitely ensure this game doesn't die anytime soon.
