I only managed to get a few hours of the PVP event in on Friday (had some kinda TS/DayZCommander connection problems) but of what I played, it was thoroughly awesome. I look forward to the next one! -
You know you've been playing too much DayZ when...
mzltv replied to Siegfried's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If this is true, this is one of the best thing's I've ever heard. -
Emptied 2 clips at point blank range - he didn't die.

No, he means a dude dressed as a tree. vs Know your foes, Play. -
A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
mzltv replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
If he is, it's only by sheer chance. It annoys me that people come out with statements like this when it's not even an educated guess. The only people who can give educated guesses as to when the release will be are the developers. -
People like this should be automatically assigned hero skins.

Like Fraggle says, ArmA itself has a lot of keys that are quite core to the gameplay, and that it wouldn't be the best of shouts to use it for regular in-game use. However, you may find it to be an absolute treat when you are flying choppers/planes. Maybe jump into the Editor and give it a little go? See if you find it easier than the keyboard/mouse combo. In the meantime, have a phat controller.

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!
mzltv replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
It's funny really... everything he wrote was either just outrightly a cry for beans, or generally stupid and infuriating.. but now he's gone, a little part of me has died :( RIP CandyLOL - may you bane the graveyard with your inproper grasp of upper case letters and punctuation. -
I'd recommend using DayZ Commander pal - it'll show you the ingame time, what types of map, and it's generally alot easier to use in terms of updating/downloading maps and the DayZ code. You'll also be able to see which servers have a good latency, and in the server name, it can even outline what the server is about (ie. PVP, PVE, SAFE ZONES, START WITH GOOD LOOT!, etc..) http://www.dayzcommander.com/

I liked the bit where you choose which server to connect to.

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!

Hold up a tick - where has that loveable little scamp got to!? I don't see why you need to justify the silence to be honest, Rawkit. Christmas holidays tend to mean no working anyway... I'm sorry to hear that you've been associated (god knows how) with The War Z though. That must have been like having someone dunk their fat sweating balls onto your forehead... unpleasant, and just outrightly sickening. -
Should Heli Crash Sites be marked on the Map?
mzltv replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Surely this poll is for anything that will be running DayZ code 1.7.5? 100% no. The mere concept is a massive f*cking two fingers up to what DayZ has been about so far: surviving in the unknown. It's a factor that has kept this game alive, and to do this is not only gonna encourage douchebags to relentlessly snipe what would the new age equivilent to the NW Airfield, but I can imagine it leading to people getting familiar with this type of ease, and demanding more and more god damn ridiculous features. edit: *'d out the f*cking's because I'm just so cunting respectful. -
Assuming this whole marking crash sites, players and towns (lolwut?) is true.. it could be, honest to God, the worst thing to happen to DayZ. I mean, seriously, making all these bonus and random events something fixed by allowing everyone with a map to flock to it to be sniped? Way to kill the mysterious, "into the unknown" vibe. Bollocks to that. I don't know what community approved of such a change, but I can guarantee it wasn't this one.

Jokes! Never played one of these. I assume you just load in (strapped like a mawfucka) and just unload on anything with/without a pulse? Should be able to jump on Sunday for that! -
will DayZ Standalone have a seperated hive?
mzltv replied to siew's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can confirm that I don't have a clue. -
...or that way.

On the top toolbar, click your name next to where it says Sign Out, and then select My Profile. Click Edit my Profile From the sidebar, select Signature ????? Profit!

I expect that it would be possible on an i3 processor but integrated graphics are a massive no-no.

When was the first time YOU killed someone in DayZ?
mzltv replied to tacticalbanana's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think I had my first legitimate bandit kill a week or two ago. It's been pretty present in my mind whilst playing as a bandit on Taviana since. There was four of us and we were bombing it from Sabina to Byelov in a Vodnik. I'd been given an FN FAL and was pretty lucky as these guys tooled me up with good gear from a fresh spawn. We got to the end of the motorway and a survivor was standing there. Now, someone said there was a guy in a bush nearby waiting for us to get out, but I didn't really noticed that. I think I had a little bit of a power trip, what with it being my first time in the realms of banditry. Literally just took a few steps and unloaded rounds into him. In my mind, there was no reason for that dude to die (assuming that wasn't a trap they were trying to pull on us) - but I suppose outright murder is just part of the bandit etiquette these days. -
hey all i need some help with taviana servers
mzltv replied to arigmt's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
First of all, check to see which version of Taviana/ArmA2 Beta the server is using. Make sure your version is the same as that. I know there are two forms of Taviana (Euro and .Com) but I'm not sure how you'd determine which one is being run server-side. -
I don't get why people keep saying this. There isn't going to be a physical copy of the game. It's being released on Steam. It will only be on there when they decide to release it, and you pay and download on the spot.
-
Take your time. You can sprint through and loot quick, but all you're gonna do is draw attention to yourself; from zombies and/or bandits. Move slow, check openings to make sure the coast is clear.. Maybe even hop onto www.dayzdb.com and plan your route through the town depending on what loot you're looking for!

What's the best way to keep a sever populated?
mzltv replied to aundre_'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I don't actually run or help administrate servers, myself, so I wouldn't be in the knowledge about admin tools and anti-hack programs either. I was just suggesting this all from the perspective of someone who had seen numbers on a server go through the roof. There's a whole world of topics from admins and server-side enthusiasts in this section though man, have a little rummage through it and I'm sure you'll find something to do with anti-hack software. -
We all like to troll you Fraggle. WURST MOD INDY WURLD! :D Back to SA talk... I, for one, really really think this should be something addressed in the Standalone. It'd be such a game changer. OPINIONS?

What's the best way to keep a sever populated?
mzltv replied to aundre_'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I think you've gone wrong by using Chernarus under a server name which mainly advertises 'PVP'. I frequent the BSM server, and they had normally around 8/50 players on their server - it was an awesome server! Granted, it wasn't PVP onlly but it had custom scripts which built upon the DayZ experience (HALO jumps, removing vehicle parts, etc). However, when they changed from Chernarus to Taviana - the numbers shot up like mad. I now have to have room made for me if I try to get onto the servers, as it's now 40/40 at peak gaming times. Administrating your server once you have a community starting to build up will also be a priority, if you to keep them - getting rid of hackers and other offenders will show that it is regulated. Avoid whitelisting your server until you've got a considerable number of people, as it may deter people to joining (I for one never joint a Whitelisted server, as the application seems more effort than it's worth)
