Hey all i know that Rocke mentioned that they would not support releasing standalone to xbox due to no self publishing and the cost of game updates. However, there is away to bypass this and you may ask how? well its simple. first of all the self publishing is a downfall BUT this will not be needed. if anyone here has played Final Fantasy XI online you will know you can play FFXI online without the requirement of xbox live gold. the way Square Enix went around this was the use of PlayOnline. PlayOnline, at first delt with thier billing but was later phased out to a new online billing system. but PlayOnline managed all the updates for PlayOnline and the game itself meaning the updates was controlled by the developer using the develpoer's resources and not microsofts and didnt have to get MS to publish any updates for them. PlayOnline was simply a launcher that was on all 3 platforms, xbox, PC and PS2. there where lots of updates for FFXI monthly from once a months to upto 8-9 times a month if Rocket simply develops a similar system to Playonline they can allow updates for standalone at their own pleasure minus the xbox update costs. this also allows for the possibility for allowing all platforms to play on same severs too as the launher/bridge ties into the 1 system. i donnot know any specifics behind the scenes that square enix went though or how PlayOnline worked as a whole but this would be a possibility for Standalone to appear on xbox if Rocket changes his mind and decided to go down this route. this provides food for thought in terms of developing for xbox and hopefully rocket reads this and can rethink his decision, depending on what MS would have to say about the developer handling their own updates. tl:dr Rocket should develop a launcher to work on all 3 platforms that handles updates, logins, etc. Manage his own client updates via the launcher so that MS is not needed for pushing updates. provides larger playerbase, no need to pay MS for pushing updates etc. Thanks for reading, feel free to comment away

Tents Saving Troubleshooting

i have done this a number of times. mainly when get i do this all the time when i come across a tent with hacked weapons, i take them out of tents drop it in a tree, take my rifle back save tent, wait, save, and check back after server restart. so i know it works 90% of the time, and as i said it may not work on 1.7.2.5. if your worried about loosing gar, get a tent and throw a bandage in it :P -
My appologies if this is wrong forum to post this but i didnt know where to put it PLEASE NOTE: if the server is running 1.7.2.5 this most likely not work due to the current issues at the time of posting. however this DOES work in 1.7.2.4 Basically the saving tents function DOES work however it dont do it well so here is how. Pitch your tent (good luck on that tho :P) Place the items you want to store in your tent Save the tent (while no de-sync, as in the chain icon) Wait around 5-10 mins (10 mins is what i wait) Save the tent again (while no de-sync, as in the chain icon) after a server restart this should still have the stored items. so how about removing items? well currently removing items from tents DO NOT save the tent so you have to perform similar steps as above Pitch your tent (good luck on that tho :P) Removing the items you want to take from the ten Save the tent (while no de-sync, as in the chain icon) Wait around 5-10 mins (10 mins is what i wait) Save the tent again (while no de-sync, as in the chain icon) this should update the inventory of the tent. tobehonest i dont know if the de-sync affects but i always wait for the de-sync icon to disappear just incase :P this is works 90% for me so now you know, and you should save tents when you remove items, if you dont after reading this post then you are essintially willingly duping items

i found an easy way to fix the 'dayz_anim' requires addon 'CA_Dubbing_Counterattack' by getting this error i can tell you have the steam version of the game and this comes up some times randomly, i used to get it too and got annoyed with having to do option 1 bellow so i done option 2 (figured this out to fix this issue i had for lingor island) Option 1 Run steam as administrator play Arma 2 close after you get to the main menu play Arma2:OA (combined operations) then reload and try connect to the server this option means that you have to redo this procedure every time so to stop this perform option 2 Option 2 open Command prompt and type one of the following:- For 32Bit systems mklink "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\addons" "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\AddOns" /j For 64Bit systems mklink "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\addons" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\AddOns" /j what this does is create a symbolic link of the arma 2\addons folder in the arma2:oa folder so it can access the files in the arma2 addons folder, you will never have this error again, the folder will look like short cut but its not. if you remove arma2:oa then you will have to do it again Why is it doing this? simply put, before doing option 2 you will not see a folder called addons in your arma2:oa folder so basically since @DayZ is in arma2:oa folder it cant see the relevant files, also dayz is run through arma2:oa. the CA.pbo and others it requires is in the arma2\addons folder, you can copy the addons folder from arma 2 to arma2:oa folder but thats like 8gb of space so by performing option 2 this saves hard drive space and eliminates the problem :) -
just a thing about tents, if you dont want the tents to restock itemsafter a server restart then you should start saving them a few times after items are taken out/put in. i do this when i see hacked weapons in tents, take out the hacked weapon hug a tree, a conifer/pine tree ones, then drop it (i use conifer ones coz you cant see it when dropped, gets despawned anyways after a little while) save the tent wait 5-10 mins some times 15 mins (depends on what mood i am in) save when de-sync icon is not showing then move on 90% of the time the hacked weapon will not respwan after restart, if not i will repeat the process. if you do this every time you remove/add items to your tents (minus step 2 :P) then you should find that tents do infact save properly. i have mentioned this on another thread, and test at your will, i did read that you upgraded to 1.7.2.5, due to the issue of that version tents/vehicals will not save properly so this may not work for you, however works fine on 1.7.2.4 :) just thought you should know

i know there are some flaws in this but the concept is sound tho. tbh i would love it if after login procedure is complete and players all get thunderdomed/teleported in mid air/etc we would all get kicked, not a bad kick but to stop people panicing and killing everyone on sight just coz. like a kick msg saying sorry and mentioning a teleport script was used or something. would be better than mass murder like some flaws are hackers/script kiddies that teleport behind you and start shooting at you while invisible, although they seem to be an extreamly bad shot. as i said the concept is sound but with the proper tweeks it could be a good thing -

try looking at this tread its even a sticky too and was posted yesterday too New Major BattlEye Anti-Cheat Features EDIT: just feels like people are quick to make a post instead of reading the info thats on the foums, the new scipts.txt and remoteexec.txt and createvehicle.txt files are available and is suggested that server aadmins impliment them. if your a server admin, kinda doubt you are then you should be looking for this kind of info instead of moaning about a known problem to the entire comunity. i am no server admin but to know the server admin from the server i play on and i brought this to his attention so he can impliment it asap. and as i said already "basically you got to be patient and wait for a resolve. also if a hacker is determined enough then they will work away to find away around the system" these things dont resolve overnight, and apparently there is big talks on hacker sights about the updated features in the link above. if your not a server admin and know them then feel free to bring stuff like this to thier attention so they can impliment them asap too instead of bitching about it here. be part of the solution and not part of the problem -

this kind of topic has been discussed time and time again, tbh i dont think the rules for hosting will change. while we all know about the hacker/script kiddie infestation some times these things can take some time to fix the problem. you have to remember this is a mod and the problem lies with ARMA2, its a client trusted engine so if you can get around battle eye you can input everything due to the way the game engine works, there is only so much the DayZ team can do and allowed to do when it comes to the core of the engine. basically you got to be patient and wait for a resolve. also if a hacker is determined enough then they will work away to find away around the system -

the server i play on rolled back to 1.7.2.4 as well as it was causing issues like players getting stuck at loading screen and also the tents/vehicles issue too. and i would advise people to do the same -

tbh i dont know if de-sync affects it or not i just do it when i dont see the de-sync icon just to make sure and also saving after a max of 10 min just to make sure. if de-sunc does then maybe its the reason people have problems with saving. also note, if the server version 1.7.2.5 then this can be expected as i have read that there is an issue with 1.7.2.5 in regards to tent saving and vehicle saving too, read here. if the server version is 1.7.2.4 then try my method and see if it works for you EDIT: the server i play on is 1.7.2.4, it was upgraded to 1.7.2.5 and hive 0.7.3 but we downgraded back to 1.2.7.4 and hive 0.7.2 because of the issue -

i have no problem with tents 90% of the time. here is what i do:- add the items to the tent then save (while no desync icon is showing) wait 5-10 mins save 1-2 times (while no desync) carry on what i am doing. after server restart check back on tent, 90% of the time items are saved, the times they didnt save i may have done it during a desyc but cant be 100% certain. you can try this yourself but this is how i get them to work.
