Maybe put in other enemies aside from infected? *Please don't kill me.*

Fur Hats..brilliant. But no bears. Bears are too scary. Godless marauding creatures. -
If hero's run faster than bandits than what do bandits do better than a hero?
ButtHat replied to Dai Tou Zai's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like the bandit play style. It's just hard to incapacitate people to a point you can rob them of anything worth while without being shot. I've come to a kill on sight play style when I'm around cherno/elektro/NW Airfield or Stary. Taking the risk of being a nice guy in those areas is just not worth it these days. -
Anyone else miss when you were a noob?
ButtHat replied to Death_Dealer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The player interactions where very intense. Losing that AK47 was super traumatic. When you move into any populated area it was all about patience and scanning everything. Heart was always racing. Nervously eyeing my food/water meters. Desperately scouring through houses for a drink and some beans. The first time I found a vehicle I nearly crapped my pants. I could travel all over the place in minutes! It was great! Every minute seemed intense. Also playing into the night time before I knew quick ways to get NVGs. Tossing road flares and moving block by block slowly, out of the light but watching the areas that were light up. Yeah, I miss the early days. They were great. I still get quite a rush out of interacting with other players. Is he going to shoot? Will he not? If he doesn't and we travel together, who's going to turn on who first? Should I just kill him now and save myself the headache later? Now i'm efficient and I know the good places to go. The newness has lost some of it's edge, but every encounter has the possibility to be a great story to tell to my friends who play. This game is one of a kind and I love it!-edit: I would love to get that new feeling again, but I do like being able to navigate around and get started without the headaches of not knowing where to go. -
You should be fine with that setup. As long as you have a decent hard drive to record to. Avoid externals. I record at 30 and above with no problems. I'm running i7 2.8GHZ processor, 32GB of ram, and NVIDIA 680M GTX 4GB graphics card. I record onto my 2x240GB SSD RAID-0 hard drive. I'm not sure if SSD's are better for recording but they certainly are for booting the OS and games up.

Sniper Hill - Where even the brave fear to tread
ButtHat replied to WaldoDude`'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sniper Hill PVP = more thrilling than the Zombies. -
Couldn't agree more. I was constantly on edge when I first started playing.

Let me start by saying my intent with this suggestion is not to make MMO style classes. But maybe from the start you pick from a few occupations, instead of just gender? Cop, mechanic, athelete, or Cook. (or whatever ideas) Based on your occupation it assists you in your start. Cook maybe starts with a few cans of food, cop a pistol, mechanic can fix a broken vehicle from the get go, athelete has a small bonus to speed. Something like that. Might make those first few moments of the game a little more interesting :) nothing that dictates the long term game play, just getting off the shore.
-
Oh, there are? They have an Arma mod that gives me a choice to start with a makarov, a can of food, or some other little perk from the shore, but is identical to DayZ in every other aspect? Great! What is it called? ;)

I thought this was the Suggestions thread. Not the post and get recommended to play another game by all the fanboys.
-
Was just a thought. I guess i'm the only one who gets tired of the initial 30 minutes trying to find a quick bite to eat and a pistol to run up north. *Shrug*. It's fun the first few times, but after a while, i'm just ready to try and get back north.

Have you updated to 1.7.2.5? Download the torrent and copy it into your @Dayz folder. Typically its under something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ. I've been having a lot of issues with this patch though it seems. Probably just bad luck though. I've been killed by a tent, an outhouse, unable to see any EU servers for about 2 hours on and off, and a buddy of mine spent 4 hours unconscious. Make sure you connect to servers running the updated patch as well.

Yeah, and while your at it go ahead and clone the game 6 times and resell it at 60 bucks a pop like the modern warfare and black ops series. Because that made every preteen ecstatic and thats the environment I want to play in. Get dafuq outta hereeee.

Perhaps after the release, the dayz team could add some special events for a short while. Maybe a hurricane comes through, a military counter attack fails and leaves some fresh new unique loot items available for a few days, with some added military zombies. Something to keep the game fresh or something to look forward to besides the intense moments with bandits.

Lucky some bored feller didn't cap you in the head while you were amazed by your new find.

How do you survive for more than a few hours?

Learn where the sniper spots are. Obtain some sort of weapon. Kill snipers...profit. -

Deadlier zombies to discourage deathmatching?
ButtHat replied to aksuduud's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would like to see them hoard together more. If you start making noise in one spot more keep coming...and coming. Sort of like dawn of the dead at the shopping mall. I enjoy the player interaction more than the zombie combat, which makes this game unique from other zombie games. -
Why can't we just have one solid username?
ButtHat replied to spankimus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They're not hackers, they're gun toting wizards that spawn helicopters and make it rain zombies. That occasionally shoot me in the face with miniguns. -
Molotov cocktails? Seems like a fun way to to make light / let cherno burn to the ground. Plus there seems to be an unlimited supply of whiskey bottles lying around.
