  1. I also agree to this. To DC while in a fight is an act of cowardice. Finish the game, die or win. And take it like a man.

Last night I killed a man.

Moments in this game are scarier and more intense than any other game or movie I've ever seen.

Last night I killed a man.

That happened to us in Cherno earlier tonight. We were doing a loot sweep with a 4 man ground team and a 2 man SR team on the grain elevators. As we finished our sweep, our SR team took fire from a treeline some 700m distant, and both died. Then we were pinned down in the construction site for a long time, trying to place the source of the fire. You hear the crack and impact of the bullet, then a second later comes the BOOM of the weapon. Finally we rushed back to the grain elevator to recover their gear. We were pinned on the roof of that building for almost 30 minutes with accurate rifle fire from the west, north and south. In fits and starts, our guys made it back down the ladder and began pursuing contacts. One guy rolled up Vysota hill and engaged a bandit, killing him. Two more cleared the power station west of town. It sits on a clearing atop a hill that overlooks the whole city. They reported contact and we heard a huge gunfight erupt. They both lost their lives but claimed another kill. Finally, I descended the ladder to pursue one more shooter, who was still on that hill. I ran around the hospital and apt buildings and up into the treeline. I caught him running down, and we engaged each other at about 50 feet distance with our M4s. I got the murder, yet I bled out from his shots. I'm still shaking from the adrenaline.

    Sorting tents...

    Word up yo.
  5. Found one in the SW barracks, also found a suppressed M4 camo finish. Me likey!
  6. Too bad you couldn't adjust the brightness for NVGs as you can on the real Eotech.
  7. OK? They were great! I know a lot of work goes into making live video. Very nicely done. And funny!
  8. The one I found does not have the PEQ-2 laser module as in this photo but otherwise identical.
  9. Gotta nuke 'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
  10. We were seven strong. We had conducted a long range patrol in the north searching for campsites. On our way back through Krasnostav, our scout sniper reported a fresh helicopter crash. We hoofed it to his location, and saw the crash site. Setting up a line about 150m from it, we began engaging the Zeds. After a few spawn waves it was clear. We moved in to search the crash and found a few nice things, including a Mk48 7.62 LMG. As we were sorting our gear for the return trip, someone called out "Car!" Sure enough, a gray sedan pulled up 80m or so east of us. Without hesitation, we all proned out and opened fire. Two LMGs and five rifles all threw out a curtain of lead. They dismounted but it was too late. I don't think they even managed any return fire. We moved in and observed four corpses that were decently geared. After taking what we could and repairing the car, we moved out. Later on our camp was hit and completely cleaned out. Now we rebuild. This is the game.
  11. Your head must always be on a swivel. There must be at least one shooter with the vehicle at all times. Cover 360 always. Scan scan and scan again.
  12. I don't wanna get killed. The stuff I'm carrying and that's in my ruck took me a long time to get. Slithering through dirty convenience stores, abandoned hospitals, and crawling through miles of mud to get north and the good gear... I won't lose that on the off chance an unidentified player is not hostile. If we encounter anyone within our proximity, they are going to die. If we encounter anyone within a given radius of our campsite, they are going to die. No betrayal about it, we just don't want to be messed with. So are we bandits?

How often are your camps raided?

Don't ever mark your camp pos on the map. Ever. Lean the art of land nav and memorize the grid coords. Don't park vehicles within 500m of your camp. Keep vehicles out of sight as they are more visible than tents. Barbed wire is your friend. Seal the whole camp off if you need to, and have one guy remove one section when you need to get back in. If you don't know the guys you're running with on Teamspeak or Vent, or if you don't know them personally, don't let them near your campsite.
  14. The end of a long day, recovering vehicles and after a trip to NWAF, we're offloading the car into the tents, and i get into the driver's seat to take the car to our secluded vehicle park. Except I didn't get in the car. I threw a M67 frag at it. Desperately casually slow walking away, I screamed at my keyboard and monitor as the grenade went off. Hoping it cleared the wire and detonated harmlessly outside the camp, I turned to look. The lovely little care was immolated. The fire could be seen for a mile around. Was the 5.56 ammo still in the car? Shit.
  15. I'm stepping into a red brick house in Cherno, MP-5 at the ready. I see another survivor entering the opposite door. I type in direct chat: "PLEASE MOVE BACK". He complies instantly, coming on voice that he is friendly and unarmed. I reply that friendly is as friendly does. I search the house, finding nothing, and tell him there's a watch in one room and to stay safe. He thanks me. Amazing how civilized someone can get when they have no weapon.
  16. Be it a slug or buckshot, a 12 gauge shell has the same lethality when coming outta Granpa's old coach gun or a Benelli M-4. Can they all just be 12 ga. rounds please? Thanks.

    Add a sexual anxiety meter

Is the OP like 16 years old or something? Trust me, that "anxiety meter" will be put on hold when your ass is being chased by hyperviolent undead cannibals.
  18. Started with ArmA. Ran convoys across Sahrani, doing all kinds of missions. When ArmAII came out, we ran ops all over Chernarus, Takistan and Zargabad. Zombies of a different sort, shall we say. I love that Day Z has breathed new life into this franchise, and Chernarus, a most underused land mass. I love every square meter of it, and have trod almost all of it.
  19. My haunts include the Black Forest, Zelen and surrounding villages, and sometimes I'll hit the Sobors to watch the carnage. I won't head up to the airport in daylight, and until I have NVGs, won't go there at all.

An open letter to the silent majority

Yes. This mod is SICK. I'm an old dog Arma player and this has breathed new life into the sim.

    Navigation Tip - All Players

Knowing the terrain is key. It won't matter how many times you get sent back to the beach, you will have the upper hand.
  22. Today I woke up atop the peak north of Pusta. I headed north, downslope, and filled my canteens and had breakfast. Then I hit the forest and didn't look back. Mid afternoon I came out of the tree line at Mogilevka. Crawled in past the Zeds and went shopping. Left the town with my ruck bulging with goodies and weighed down with 12 ga. rounds for the shotty. Moved west across the remote terrain until Rogovo. Screwed up and got escorted out of town by a few dozen former residents. Kept going until I hit some ville way in the west. I lay down for the night under some bushes. My strategy is one of "break contact". I want to stay away from civilization as much as possible, but I still require enough gear to operate 24/7. That means NVGs, a suppressed weapon, and food/drink. I won't actively hunt other players here, nor will I interfere with their scavenging. There's enough for everyone. Just don't follow me.

    Introduce yourselves

Patterson here, sometimes seen on servers as Sixgun. I'm friendly and always willing to help in game chat. Been playing ArmA2 for years and know Chernarus very well. If we run into each other, I'm glad to share what I have if you need it. Be advised though, I'm cautious bordering on paranoid. If you display threatening or unsure tendencies to me, I'll drop you without hesitation. Nothing personal. Enjoy your stay in Chernarus.

Get a Glock 17 and you'll be good to go in that department.
