Seems as though many servers turn that feature off. I play on a few servers that NEVER go into the night cycle for some reason. I've noticed that quite a few servers have a NT label that is set to 0 or off which I can only guess means night time?

Yet another fps thread.. specs sufficient?
dstein replied to steevz's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Those shadows are probably what's killing you. Try setting those to low (or off if possible) and switch your resolution to 1024x768. -
Are you running the game on a laptop or a desktop?

anyone find it weird that in dayz...

Zombies have a dock phobia, will stare at you blankly if standing on one. -

Bring back humanity, but not for murdering...
dstein replied to PaperPunch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't see why not. I think it's a good idea because it's something people would probably start doing if this were a real situation. I also think if there were more types of food that restored different quantities of your hunger gauge it'd make the game more interesting. -
It would make the game more interesting if there was a reason to do all of that. The zombies themselves don't pose enough of a threat to large groups

The thing is, you might not recognize it at first, but you learn little by little with each life you live. You find out where good loot spots are, how to remain unseen, how to survive on your own, etc. Once you have a good bearing on Chernarus you're gonna be in good shape. I would suggest watching what I posted above and also find low populated servers to play on until you get more familiar with the game.

There are a TON of videos on youtube to watch that can help you immensely. Try this video out and also all the others in his channel.

This should help you. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3910-need-medical-assistance-we-can-help/ -
Yeah you really can't get attached to anything you gain in this game. It can all be taken away at any moment so just focus on the fun you have playing instead and be more careful ;)

Server hopping, Alt + F4ing Cherno Roof Sniper 0, Us 1 (I guess technically 3)

This is a great story! Good job man. -
You can get by usually by turning your brightness all the way up, change the hdr lighting settings, and mess with the gamma. Doesn't always work, but if the stars and/or moon are out you'll be able to see very well. If you stay low and take the long routes you should be able to dodge people with nvg's easier than you think. I just wouldn't expect to win many fire fights with them.

Just a quick question about hackers.
dstein replied to lBiscuit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah if I'm not mistaken you may find them are helecopter crash sites. Beyond that though it is definitely a hacked in object. Basically if it seems to good to be true and suspicious at all just stay far away from it. Maybe go to a new server. -
Temporary fix for the graphical glitches/artifacts in DayZ
dstein replied to thekillingsmiley's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cool, thanks buddy. I'll have to try this out instead of exiting the game all the time. -
I think it all depends on perspective as well. You're providing a very generous service to the community with keeping your server up. It may just be one of many, but people play on it and are enjoying themselves. Eventually things will get better, but the support of you and others right now are what is keeping everything afloat.
-
Yeah I don't think this is the proper response to all the hacking. This is basically admitting defeat. I understand that there's a lot of frustration with not being able to police your server as much as you'd like though.

For the love of god and all thats holy when is 1.7.2.5 coming
dstein replied to kik's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can only speak from my own experience and say that it doesn't happen to me often at all. When it does it's as simple as exiting the game and then it doesn't happen again. If it's as bad as you say for the majority of players then yeah I'd say it was game breaking. -

First of all, I am going to suggest to you a fix that has worked for me EVERY SINGLE TIME. Face the direction of the glitched graphics in question. Abort and disconnect completely from the game (exit ARMA2) then rejoin server. Problem solved. By the way, that's NOT a game breaking bug. -
Shit happens, it's frustrating but it's an alpha of a mod. Unexpected things are going to happen and you shouldn't rely on finding your body to regain your gear. Maybe you should've been more careful.
-
There's a difference between disconnecting and alt-f4. Basically when you alt-f4 you completely terminate the program on your computer so there is no chance for the game to log you out. Unless what you're saying is the person who does use alt-f4 would have their character remain in the same spot after they do so?

Are AS50's worth anything anymore?
dstein replied to shypatrick's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd say it's a worthwhile gun to have for sure. Just because hackers are using it doesn't make it a bad weapon. If you look at it that way you might as well never attempt to get anything other than an AKM. Ammo might be scarce, but you should be happy you found it so easily. -
I'm glad you at least have a positive outlook. I think people get too attached to what they've gained and just get really angry. It does suck, don't get me wrong, but it's just something that's going to happen randomly at this point in the mod.
-
I actually really like that. You get a certain amount of dog tags and maybe it changes your appearance or like you said could be used as some sort of currency. I'm not so sure I actually like the dog tags themselves, but if there was something you could collect from a victim proving you did what you did it'd be cool.
