Could this computer run DayZ On medium at ~30 FPS?
Tizoc replied to TheSneakySpy's topic in New Player Discussion
That's what I was figuring, I tend to have similar issues with BF3, (I'm assuming huge open world = OMG CPU EXPLOSION) took me 3+ years to upgrade my GPU from a 4750(?) and I'm still running DDR2 so I don't know what's worth buying at all. :/ -

Are they less compatible with DayZ or you just have general regrets? The reason I ask is because I'll probably be looking to upgrade my CPU and I have very little knowledge about such things, mostly I know that when something doesn't work, update drivers and how to build the rig itself.lol -
I've ran into a house a few times, even then you can juke them like you would a barn or warehouse, you just have a lot less time to scavenge/go murder mode on them. The only time zombies are ever really dangerous is when you take risks. Like, I'm running from zombies but I really, REALLY want to see what's in that tiny house. I'mma try and axe these buggers then get back there. That's when I die. I find that unless absolutely necessary (I'm bleeding out/dehydration/hunger) you really should never fight them. Ammo/guns are too scare to waste when you'll need them for PvP, and trying to go berserker with a hatchet can make the situation worse.

Currently I'm running a 6870 and the game chugs along in heavy areas, even at lowest settings. Although that could be because of my 2.6x4 processor, I've heard DayZ is pretty CPU intensive. -
Don't worry you'll learn to survive quickly. Still sucks when you've been alive for awhile and die to glitchy mechanics but that's what happens in an alpha stage project. It'll get fixed, eventually. Oh god I fear the day when it's smooth enough that zombies can zerg indoors. I'll be a mountain man forever! :(

make crowbar a secondary, good for zerging deadheads when scaveging

Definitely a good idea on fresh spawns, especially so as everything gets smoothed out and load times go down. The risk/benefit is just so much better, you're not as heavily invested in a fresh spawn so the risk is low while the reward is high. Woodlands really suck when you've got flashing meters and there's nothing but trees for miles and miles around.

You have to practice your 360 Noscopes with a Hatchet in the middle of Chern. Only then will a representative of the The 1337 Sniperz School contact you, initiate you into the brotherhood, and give you your first sniper rifle.

Ghillie Suit in the first Five Minutes?

Lucky in the sense that it's not likely you'll find it so quickly. Unlucky in that you'll die many times before you can really take advantage of it. Good luck! -
It's a pain, but on my 3rd(4th?) life I spent almost all that time WWWWWWWWWWWWWWW into the wilderness, found more then enough tasty snacks to keep my hunger level under control. The problem was more of not being able to find matches (I can fly a chopper, fix cars, administer emergency medical service, but don't know how to start a fire by hand?lol) but that's the price for playing it safe and being a boyscout. You don't find much people shit randomly in the woods.

[AUT] Spieler suchen Genossen zum Zocken!
Tizoc replied to nekryy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not trying to be offensive, but if I read that/someone VOIP that to me, I'd be running as fast as I can away. For all I know you're joking with your buddies about how tasty my beans will be when they're used as a stuffing for my corpse. -
From my limited understanding people are only friendly until they feel they have enough teammates/guns/ammo to form a bandit group. The only winning move is not to play, i.e. Hide out in the damn woods like Bear Grylls, drink your own piss.

Scared the crap out of me. Trying to change keybinds when SUDDENLY BLARARGAGARGCREEEEEEEEEEECCCCCHHHHHHHH! Dead. Respawn. Die trying to keybind again. 3rd life 20min 4th life run into forest 6 hours die of thirst after finding a couple tents full of gear in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. After using a canteen full of water that disappeared, and didn't get rid of my thirst. :/ 5th life; Run directly into city, kite zombies, get the best gear I've ever had tons of survival crap, Mak plus 5 mags from some poor shmuck who died in front of the hospital, run the fuck out, lose the deadheads. Try to survive away from all the danger = failure Run into zombie and psychopath infested warzone = SUCCESSFUL STRATEGY

I'm on my second day and probably my 6th life...you'll learn. Best bet depending on server pop is to just immediately make a scavenger run for the nearest big city. Screw stealth, kite zombies into buildings and grab essentials. Some bandages, Epis, blood packs seem to be a nice way to convince other Survivors to not shoot, just by telling people that I'm friendly, have a bead on them (with my empty AK LOL) but willing to give blood has garnered me a few friendlies that otherwise would shot me dead. With the right tools you can essentially survive in the wilderness without ever having to go into a city again. Get lucky, find a tent, hide it well and you can start taking a few more risks (maybe). Besides that, yeah Alpha sucks, but it is what it is. Only thing I wish was changed was the insanity of dying from hunger/thirst when I have uncooked meat and standing next to a pond/in the rain. I was thinking since there are diseases, maybe allow Survivors to eat uncooked meat/drink water without a bottle and have a chance of getting sick. Pretty ludicrous that my guy will let himself die of thirst next to a million gallons of water, presumably because it's unclean or die of hunger because he likes his steaks Well Done, not Rare.lol Maybe replace water bottles/add with Water Cleansing Tabs or emergency fire kits. Still don't know how to harvest wood, keeps telling me I need to be in a forest next to a tree (even though I'm chopping this tree with my reloaded Man Axe.) Otherwise I'm loving the game, it has great potential, and worst comes to worst, you can wait a couple months for patches and hopefully play when a lot of these things have been worked out.
