    Crazy Zombie Spawns

Oh no. I understand all of that I've been playing for some time. It's with the new update that I wasn't sure as to them. Before flares wouldn't draw them. And I know Fires would but a fire on a hill side could draw a whole town away. Generally I have to use my Flashlight in bursts. I haven't had a group to be with or the ability to go looking in the areas where the NVG tend to be to try and get a pair. Let alone find crashed Heli's. And it's kind of hard to find a group to play with that isn't just either luring you in to kill you; i.e. (They are all real life friends so if anyone is expendable it's the new guy.) Or some other result. So I haven't had chance to really explore NW Airfield.

    Alice packs..Alice packs everywhere!

If you go into Cherno and look in some of the buildings with entrances at the corner of the block. You tend to find them like beans. In one building we found three. 2 in the same room one in the next room over. As for the Backpack I've only seen one of those.

I haven't used the flares yet out of worry of just how much they attracted. But you could always get a suicidal friend. Tell him to use Global chat. xD And just RUNNNNN~ You profit. :D Friend if alive gets what you feel they deserve. That would be hilarious however they won't become attracted to you, only the flare. They don't take into account the direction/angle it's thrown etc. only where it lands. They will slowly walk towards it and then circle in a 10-15 meter radius while more and more zeds join in the party. Plenty of time for you to sneak in while they're at one side of the town and you can loot the opposite side and central areas if you maintain distance. Ah alright. I wasn't aware as to the pull power of it. I'm normally cautious as to use a Flare period due to the 'players' that would see it. I believe he said that they were going to be interested in light sources in general correct? So flashlights and chemlights? That and I already know the pulling power of a Fire. That Fire pulls zombies like nuts.
  4. I'm pretty sure with a little looking you'd find that somewhere they is probably explained. But Day and Night are based off the In-Game Time. And that is determined by what the Server time is set to. As for it getting darker. That has to do with either the phase of the moon, and clouds. So a full moon with no clouds will result in more light at night. Vice versa. EDIT:: As Saz said. There is that possibility that it was a Desync. Did they say it was Daylight outside for them. Or was it you were Night in game and they were day in game?

    DayZ stats accurate?

It's quite possible they will be with time? But with the constant influx of new players, we'll probably always see a low Life expectancy due to the zombies or bandits eating the new players. xD

This Is Best Game I've Ever Played

This thread is much needed though it won't get nearly as much attention as a hate thread or flame thread would. But it really is an amazing game, when you can cut out the amount of flaming and hate that the forums receive, You find that it's really not a bad mod at all. Hell. I went on a simple walk to get a friend and it turned into some massive adventure. xD Any other game we'd have just walked from point A to point B and met up. But not Day Z you go from Point A to Point Omega.

Figure it out? Personally I have come to the conclusion they seem to love spawning more when you get aggro'd. As there are many a case that you see almost nothing. Get aggro'd and then seemingly a horde comes from the void to take your soul with them.

But you said you DC'd when you felt in danger by bandits. That's exactly the sort of behaviour we're trying to avoid. Either way' date=' I fully agree that this is all secondary. It's not a major issue and should not be put ahead of other features. [/quote'] So no. My behavior is not that which you are all trying to avoid. it is Because if 1 case of it. After a long wait which would be what the flag system would deem as okay, is the behavior you're avoiding. No one under no conditions should ever leave a server. But the reason you feel your need to say that my Behavior is what you're avoiding is because the people who constantly do it. And do such multiple times in a day. Aren't going to say it in the thread. So you take the absolutely smallest and best case example of it to promote.

It's not a major issue and should not be put ahead of other features. [/quote'] I said it was a one time situation. Did you not read the other situation? I fully knew it was a bandit area. And fought my way back got my gear and walked out of Cherno. I didn't get my stuff and DC. I DC'ed on the Airfield after 2 minutes of sitting and waiting to see if he'd walk by my spot. Even under the flag thing that everyone else seems to like. I would have been in the clear. So no. My behavior is not that which you are all trying to avoid. What people are trying to avoid is targets getting away, and loot being snatched up and the person leaving to another server to get more.

    Crazy Zombie Spawns

^ Bingo. I'm sure we all have stories of doing something and getting a zombie spawn right on your face. I mean, hell, he should have spawned just already chewing on your arm. But this happened to me and friends. For once had a clear shot at NW Airfield. No one was around. For once in many a day for us. I'm looting some stuff. And due to a bit of server lag I couldn't pick up a gun quick enough. And a zombie spawns LITERALLY on the pile of loot I was picking things up from. :c This results in the whole operation going south due to the seemingly now all over zombies. Which a second ago were non-existent.

But you're a perfect example of a person who does. Regardless' date=' what I'd like to see is a myriad of anti-DC mechanics tried out. This is, after all, an Alpha, and that mechanic must be tested just as much as anything else. [/quote'] Then it will have plenty of time to be tested after the much more important things are tested. If I were to be penalized for looking for a Europe server with light, so I don't play constantly in the dark. I'd just go flat bandit. No care for my items. Just murdering for the hell of murdering and causing people to want to DC and get penalized. What I do I do when I'm hidden away in the forest. FAR from any loot or other people. I'm simply looking for a server with a little sun. Up to this point I haven't even killed another person due to wanting to see how high I can get my humanity. I believe this wait timer is being pushed by people who: A.) Know a spot someone was putting up barbed wire and such to jump around for loot. B.) Had a guy with loot in their sights. Shot a round and they DC'ed. C.) Or generally just have no other gripes about the game to want to pursue this. It is being abused by some. That is no lie. But abusing it by looking for a server that has daytime? I'm pretty sure that looking for sun, and being off the beaten path so as to not spawn on others. Is not even similar as some people jumping from server to server spawning in Cherno or Electro to see who they can kill and then jumping to another. Or eating up the loot in one spot and then DC'ing off to another.
  13. I haven't read 'all' of this thread. But would it be safe to assume that someone has mentioned the fact that, since fires draw zombies. And are fairly easy to be seen. That now having to start a fire out of need may bring a new cause to Bandits? Bandit: "Hmmm, I could use a fire." Player: "Look! Found wood some matches. I'm set. Time to get in the woods." -Moments later.- Player: "There we go. So toasty." And the rest plays out. Bandit kills Player. Now has fire. Though it does draw anything else further down the line. Though I did have the funny image of so many people have to start fires at the same time that Chernerus lights up. xD

    Quit quit quit...

Well as of just now reading through this thread, it seem the most recent idea I could say something about is the flag timer. I personally tend to play at night so I will jump servers looking for one that is set to a time that is still daylight. So I tend to play Europe servers so that I can take in some sun while not having to worry about super packed servers during the day. So overall a time to wait after disconnecting period would be incredibly horrible for me. And various others who either are looking for a server that is either the time of day they want. Or people who get on one and as many have said friends get on another server and they want to go play with them. The above flag system wouldn't take of anything except lock a person into a PvP situation. Which I don't believe in the purpose of this mod is to secure a kill for a person, while I'm sure the counter point would be. If you are shot at, you should hide until your flag expires. Most of the time the player about to kill you is already well aware of your location and is following. Personally, I have never disconnected when being chased by zombies. I have never server jumped once I had a spot and was exploiting loot. And even in one case was shot dead in the head by a Bandit had my friend trapped on the roof in Cherno as zombies swarmed the base of the building, I ran back. Snuck up the roof got ALL of my shit back. + What I spawned with, and then got off the roof and out of Cherno with MORE from the medical tents. There has been ONE situation in which I have Logged out from a bandit attack. It was night at the NW Airfield. No moon, and it was cloudy. Two shots and both of my friends were dead. So it was clear to me he had Night vision and a long range rifle. So I sat where I was for a moment or two to see if he was going to come looking for the bodies to see if I could pop him. When he didn't I got the hell off the server to not be next on the menu. But to agree with a previous post. This is FAR from the worst issue in the mod right now, and as such it is not something that Rocket should really be worrying about right now. If people are quitting or exploiting loot right now let them. It's an ALPHA, things will be broken and exploited. That is the point of this Alpha is for us to test things and for people to play and show how things will be exploited. As I'm well aware Rocket knows that the problem exists but will work on it as he feels it's most important on his plate at the moment. tl;dr The Wait affects too many people who don't deserve it. And Rocket has much more important things to work on.
  15. ^ This. I mean it sounds harsh but... it's just something true Day Z players get used to. Especially us without any real group. We get some stuff lose it and well... dust it off. It's time to give it all a go again. Hopefully to get further or have more luck than last time. Besides, if it can happen. It'll happen in Chernarus.
  16. Zombies are one of those hard things in my opinion to balance and find the right setting for. I mean you have to take into account many things. A.) Too many zombies and well you'll get people mowed before they can take a step. Especially if they can only play towards the night in game. B.) Too few zombies, and well Bandits have a much easier time and more safety in taking shots at you. As well as the fact more people would be free-roaming. Taking it further. Let's say you tried to focus more zombies up North where the better loot is. Making it get more difficult the more North you went for better gear. This would probably result in the lack of 'True' Bandits up North that aren't interested in killing beginners. They seek the take down of fully formed camps and fully geared survivors. And find that more Bandits don't work their way North for better stuff. Then finding the lack of zombies South and abundance of beginners running around more freely due to the lack of Zeds a buffet. So I suppose in the end it would probably be as most people want it. As many Zed as you can get. Because for the most part. Unless someone going after you is using a silenced weapon, they at least run the large risk of a horde. Overall, I feel that as it sits now you come across some smaller towns and I'll find groupings of zombies that far surpass things I've seen in Cherno and Electro. I can't say I'm upset with the amount of zombies. I mean they are still restrained enough that if you watch your map and move right you'll be able to slink all across the map with no problem. Wouldn't mind having gotten lucky like some and having like nothing at the NW Airfield. Then again, zombies aren't the problem up there. It's people camping item spawns in the area and instead of being the friendly people who are looking for friends to help make the area safer for looting. It's a bandit with night vision that is waiting to make quick work of you and just keep the spawns and now your items you brought.
  17. Lately I've been hearing stories about people having heard and or some saying they actually seen The Running Man. He's believed to just play Day Z and lead hordes of zombies along the coasts and through the woods. When raised through voice chat, he does not respond. While some people say his goal is to drag zombies through camps and other survivors. It is clear that his presence is out there. I personally haven't seen The Running Man. But have been looking for him now, I've heard he tends to run through the servers at night. People I've asked seem to be in agreement that when he has 'been' seen. It's in mostly low population servers as well. But this is where the legend gets scarier. It's said that once The Running Man has started in pursuit of you. It is almost impossible to escape, some even say he jumps servers to find you and continue the haunting chase. One person believed he had escaped The Running Man, only to log on the next night, and have The Running Man log on moment after and begin the chase anew. It looks like Bandits aren't the only threat out there anymore. Lets pray he's not real.

    The Running Man

Oi. I posted in this in another thread where someone had mentioned TRM. But I've heard that as of late if spotted he's apparently taken to using having music playing over Direct Communication with running songs. Though I fear he'll probably enjoy the new Aggro from Global chat. Though it'll make his being on a server a lot more noticeable if he decides to use it.
  19. I'm pretty sure that Rocket has just given The Running Man his greatest tool. Though I've heard as of late people have been hearing him play random songs as he runs. xD I lawl'ed when I read that he was playing; I ran so far! I ran so far away! I just ran. I ran all night and day. Just to get away.
  20. You have to admit though. You kind of have it coming if you're camping in Electro and Cherno. I mean with the amount of people that spawn and despawn in that area. Besides if you had the best gear, why not go North and start working on a Helicopter or looking for one? I can only take it you were out to kill players who were trying to get their start, so I feel karma kind of kicked in here.
  21. This is going to be hilarious. Oh god I can't stop coughing. At least this bandit didn't see me. -COUGH COUGH- Oh well... at least he knows I'm here. And I have a cold. He'll pity me... or at least put me out of my sick misery. xD

    The Running Man

Well from the looks of the screen shot it seems that he was in the area. I wonder if anyone actually saw him and just didn't realize what they were seeing.
