    Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions

    Less Military weapons, but don't make it just civilian weapons, add some "criminal" style firearms and weapons. Tec-9: Low accuracy, spray and pray 9mm machinepistol, more common and lower fire rate than the PDW. CZ Skorpion: Already in Operation Arrowhead, easy to add Every Operation Arrowhead pistol should be added. Pistol Grip Pump (on my lap at all times): Any shotgun with no stock and a pistol grip, possibly with a shortened barrel. An Ithaca 37 or a Winchester 1300 would be good, more recoil than large shotguns, increase pellet spread, even worse accuracy and ironsights. Sawed Off Double Barrel: Like the double barrel in Dayz, but it can't use slugs, has a much wider pellet spread, no ironsights, and it can be put in the pistol slot. SKS Carbine: Stripper-clip-fed 7.62x39 (AK Round) Semi Auto rifle, much more civilian style than an AK, more common, and a slower reload and smaller mag. AK Mags can be converted into 3 SKS Mags or vice versa. Hunting Bow: Faster, shorter range alternative to the Crossbow (Far Cry 3 anyone?), uses arrows instead of bolts. *also, as a sidenote, the arrows and bolts should come in 10 or 5 shot "quivers" taking up 2-3 inventory slots. Instead of single arrows taking up single inventory slots like in the current game. Hunting Shotgun (Pump): Longer range and barrel, hunting style pump action, has a tighter pellet spread and longer range and better accuracy for slugs and pellets, but has a smaller 3+1 magazine tube and its length would make it worse for close quarters. Full Size UZI; Less accurate, higher recoil, more common, and slower firing alternative to the MP5 with more primitive ironsights. Hunting Knife as a Weapon; Damage the same as crowbar but faster and shorter range, CAN STEALTH KILL PLAYERS FROM BEHIND. .22 Semi Auto Rifle: Weakest firearm, but ammo is plentiful and its very accurate with essentially no recoil, can kill zombies and players with a headshot, other than that, unless shooting a rabbit or chicken, expect to make ALOT of body shots to kill anything, should have a scoped variant too (maybe a Ruger 10/22). Has both 10 round stick mags and a 25 round "banana clip" available. Ruger MK3 Silenced .22 pistol; VERY VERY quiet .22 pistol, is just as weak as the .22 rifle but with MUCH shorter range, small ammo capacity, but great accuracy within its effective range and still no recoil. Expect only headshots as the only viable way to kill zeds/players. Baseball Bat Bat with nails in it Rope; Hang dead players from trees as a trophy and/or scare off/warn other players in the area. Machete Bayonets: Attachment for various long guns that allow it to be an effective melee weapon as well (since Dayz Standalone has weapon customization.).

    Since night is now not always complete darkness, NV and therma lshould be removed, unless you could implement a battery system to heavily decrease their use. The conservative use of light sources to balance how well you can see with how well you can be seen is one of the most thrilling parts of the game, and thermal makes bandit trollsniping (although trollsniping in general should be okay) WAAAAY to easy, bandits already have opimum positioning, better weapons, and the element of surprise, you do not need X-Ray vision (essentially). There is nothing challenging about being able to snipe people hidden behind 8 pine trees worth of brush with relative ease becasue they light up bright white, learn to snipe and manhunt, stop using your X-Ray vision like a noob. As far as Thermal is concerned as well, when was the last time you heard of anyone in any survival/zombie apocalypse scenario/movie/game/book/TV Show having thermal vision? It's just to high tech and a luxury to fit into Dayz, you might as well give us UAV recon sweeps for goodness sake! In the end, Dayz would be more challenging, require more planning/skill, and be more fullfilling an experience if night time unavoidably came with dilemma of managing flare/flashlight/glowstick usage and people didn't have what is essentially X-ray vision. P.S. Don't claim "Oh you just hating on Thermal because you constantly get killed by it you noob!". No, I have used the L85 thermal and felt I was overpowered, and my clanmate who was using it once escorted me around both airfields and Berezino, we encountered many players, and steamrolled them all with minimal effort and skill because he just scanned with his Xray scope and no one had a chance, I felt dirty.

    No that's his point exactly. He didn't agree with me fully because he wanted to enjoy the game, meaning agreeing with me = can't enjoy the game, what he wouldn't agree to is removing Thermal, therefore, he is saying that he feels he can't enjoy the game if there is no Thermal. Like 80% of people, you cry "straw man" without fully understanding what it even means. Paraphrasing =/= straw man

    "No thermal = I can't enjoy the game" Yet I'm the crybaby, :rolleyes: learn to deal with night time, or learn to find targets without them glowing bright white, neither of those are hard to accomplish Stop being unreasonable. If no one else had NV's or thermal to use against you, dealing with the tradeoffs of no light versus revealing glowsticks/flashlights/flares would be very fun in the spirit of DAYZ.

    First off, okay, Stroup is right, I also mentioned this in the OP, the nightvision should be removed until it is altered to be limited by batteries, then re-implemented. Thermal, I have already stated why it is OP, you can't just ay "its fine, shutup" and its acceptable. Why exactly do you think super high tech unlimited (no battery limitations) X-ray vision is appropriate for Dayz and not OP?

    Very few people seem to understand this, a criticism doesn't automatically equal crying. If I am stating that it is OP even WHEN I'M USING AND DOING WELL BECAUSE OF IT, Its hardly "boo hoo I suck against thermals". You don't agree, but you can't present any reason to counter my argument, so you resort to an attempt to tease me by calling me a crybaby. For those giving reasonable replys, keep on if you wish, to pricks like you, shut up.

    Okay, so your reasoning is: Stuff I disagree with = meaningless opinion Stating that flanking thermals is ineffective due to a common tactic is not an opinion. Stating that night time can be dealt with without nightvision is not an opinion. Stating that thermal makes bandit sniping very easy and uncounterable is not an opinion, that's a proper tactical assessment. Other than the bolded part that is not an opinion.

I am told "f*ck off already" or told very obvious advice in a condescending manner "try going BEHIND da sniper bro" and react accordingly, yet I'M the bad guy, nice, several people in this thread have reacted accordingly, but alot of people on this site respond to statements they disagree with like asshats. I did respond to valid counterarguments, selective reading much?

    So: You don't realize there are other ways to operate at night without nightvision, even if nightvision was removed so others couldn't use it against you. You admitted you like to play unfair. You seem like someone who's input is valuable, as a counterexample of course.

    What? Everyone I play with that uses thermal always quickly picks up one tactic, do 360-degree scans often because even a quick spin can allow you to see anything and quickly react to any "white areas". Against normal snipers, yes, you get behind them, this doesn't work against any halfway decent thermal sniper.

    How do you get the element of surprise if someone can see you through any concealment with ease? You cannot. Anywhere covered by a thermal sniper is a lost cause, you can easily lock out any airfield with thermal.

    M249 Vs. MK48 Vs. M240

    Here is my experience-driven opinion: M240: Pros: Very Powerful one shot kill for zombies, the best range of the three, better ironsights (FN FAL style) than the M249. Cons: Loud, rare ammo, smaller mag size than M249, heaviest recoil, very long so it is clumsy indoors for close combat and exposes shooter in some cases, only truly effective in prone. MK 48: Pros: Aimpoint "red dot" sight, one shot kill power for zeds, camouflaged, more controllabe than M240 and functions better in crouch and stand, just as short as an M249 and is usable indoors in closed spaces. Cons: Still high recoil, rare ammo, smaller mag size than M249, Loud, still hard to use at medium/long range unless prone. M249: Pro's: Can use common STANAG magazines as a backup, largest LMG mag size, fastest fire rate, most controllable LMG, lowest recoil LMG, effective in all stances, short length for closed spaces, quietest LMG Cons: 2-3 shot kill on zombies and weakest LMG, worse Ironsight than M240, lowest range LMG In my opinion, while the Mk48 and M240 are still deadly, the M249 is the best LMG available in Day Z. Its controllable, accurate, combined with its high fire rate it still quickly kills, is useful in all stances and closed spaces, and arguably its most important perk is that it can use common M4/M16/L85 STANAG magazines in a pinch. Discuss whether you disagree or agree and why.

    Yes, in their current state, it is unreasonable to leave them in, here is why: 1. While they can be used for legitimate, non-troll purposes, the VAST majority of it is trolling and exploiting their unrealistically difficult removal and effectiveness. 2.They have repeatedly caused glitches 3.They are extremely hard to remove, you have to look at the exact pixel on the model to bring up the remove prompt, so trolls naturally place them so the area of the babed wire that brings up that prompt clips into walls so it is effectively impossible. 4. Due to #3, it promotes people to server hop or "ghost" (always bad) to move past them. 5. They are permanent, they do not go away on their own. 6. They create an annoying/unnecessary barrier of entry for noobs/new characters. There are plenty of reasonable barriers of entry that enhance the game, spawning with no weapons, bandit threats, small backpack, no morphine, no antibiotics, cold/hunger/thirst/infection due to lack of supplies. However, locking out areas essential to gameplay with unrealistic effectiveness is not one of them. Please Lightfoot, this needs to be removed, if people want to barricade roads, use tank traps, or perhaps you guys could add in spike strips?

Some guy made the singleplayer DAYZ work with ACE, if someone could get MP working, Dayz would be epic, with better sounds, more/better weapons, and added vehicles from the ARMA ACE mod. My long time dayz friend, "a pimp named slick back" (lol at his name), was with me on Server "US1457" and he was suddenly banned, I was with him the whole time, he wasn't hacking or anything like that, but as soon as he tried to turn on his nightvision this one particular time, his screen read that he was banned and he cannot come back on (he told me this over Teamspeak). I was able to figure out that the Admin for US1457 is a player named "jason" (don't completely remember if it was capitalized). If you are on here jason, please unban my friend.

    Failure to communicate=paranoid deathmatch

    I feel that a huge contributer to the lack of trust leading to hostility is the lack of communication. Things like Global/Side chat made working out agreements between randoms much easier. These are things that can help. -Two direct chat variants "whisper" and "shout", Whisper works out to 50m, shout out to 200m. -Radios, similar to (but doesn't need to necesarily be as complex or realistic as) ACRE, so that players could scan frequencies and communicate agreements and cooperative action across chernarus "If anyone hears us, come to location X with your weapon lowered and announcing yourself on shout channel to meet up". -Vehicle loudspeakers, military vehicles like the V3S, UAZ, Huey, and military offroad could have loudspeakers used to send out warnings/messages out across longer distances than voice. An example would be a huey circling elektro/cherno disseminating information to player via loudspeaker.
  21. 1. ALL BUILDINGS ARE ENTER-ABLE!!! I can't see how this can't be the biggest deal. 2. Much smoother animations. 3.Better optimization with better graphics (supposedly ARMA 3 is no harder to run than ARMA 2, but looks much sexier) 4. Weapon attachment and outfit customization (individual clothing parts, there wouldn't have to be a bandit skin if you want to look the part, just get a military vest, some camo, and a ski-mask separately, you could also have clans dress in matching uniforms). 5. Vastly improved vehicle physics, no more flipping ATV's 30 meters in the air by driving over railroad tracks. What are you most looking forward to in the ARMA 3 Engine DAYZ? Also, do you guys think the Limnos map from ARMA 3 could work well in Dayz?

    Yeah, I'm worried, I picked up an M4 Holo SD, the SD version isn't in the mod, but it took me awhile to find that out and I eventually ditched it, but only after 2 days and over 8 hours of playing with it, so is my profile going to be corrupted? And if so I'm entitled to know what "corrupted" means.

    Really? I like the PKP (in ARMA 2) as a great mid to long range Support weapon, it has a nice built-in scope with ballistic markings for bullet drop compensation too. Perhaps you should go back to BF3 and CoD if you expect an LMG to work effectively from the hip, "rambo-style".
