Why is the ATV listed as "no storage trunk" ? They can be stored gear in, that's for sure.... and I think the capacity is 2 packs, 10 weapons/tools, 50 items. But yeah, thanks for the thread - it's a good idea :) Thanks for that clarification aswell, as for a while there, I got scared that it might be the case. :D As I just died a few days ago and I have tents I still use. I guess tents always last if they're just being used every week(?) or so (unless flattened or disappearing due to a bug)

Vehicle hoarding off map: Where should I look?
sarcasm83 replied to Shard (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The edge of the map @086.000 is a pretty common place, because the spot's not visible from the sides or the map side. But the ones really off the map... dunno, they could be anywhere. Maybe several clicks to the north outside the map.. basically anywhere where the owner is willing to run with (x) amount of supplies. And for you to find it, you'd pretty much have to know the exact spot to head up from or it's just mindless wandering around the emptyness. (I've tried ;P) I bet some people are willing to run really high up north outside the map just to make sure no one finds em... Shame, really. I haven't had a car either. Have stumbled upon a chopper twice though.. I guess I just got lucky. -

Oh and as I'm not into killing players without a reason and therefor seriously lacked combat experience, I made some likely DayZ scenarios in ARMA2: Operation arrowheads editor. It really helped me get confident in spotting players in the woods and from a distance (Which I found to be a bit tricky.. the editor was a good way of getting used to what a player moving in the woods looks like and how small they look at what distances etc.) So I set up a few hostiles walking around all over the place up north on the chernarus map and just did what I normally do in DayZ and survived multiple encounters of seeing em and even being fired upon by them. Sure, it's not a perfect analog as a human player often makes sure that the first shot they take is the killshot, but anyway... it's at least something to prepare for the worst. Also good thing to play the ARMA 2 helicopter tutorial and/or spawn a UH1H chopper in the arma OA editor and fly around, incase you ever do find a chopper :) You can enter the editor and play around with it by normally starting up arma combined operations/operation arrowhead from either steam or it's folder, then going to single player -> editor. It's rather straight forward... select the chernarus map etc. And after you've spawned a player unit (Blufor rifleman, marked "player" for example) you can then select "EMPTY" from the blufor, opfor...." selections and spawn empty vehicles. If you spawn a blufor chopper for instance, it has a crew in it aand UH1H (the huey in DayZ) isn't even in the list for Blufor, I think, it's in the empty aand probably somewhere in the chernarus civilian/local section.. if it wasn't in the list to begin with when you just select empty. Don't remember, but it's still pretty straight forward and easy to figure out. I didn't need any tutorials to mess around at least :) And not only is it good training, you can also have alot of fun with it.... (Give yourself an apache and take down a pile of enemies using it's hydra rockets and watch them FLY >;D ..... *cough* ... I'm not a violent person :I) -

Yeah so in short; If chased by zombies, try to break line of sight and get distance between em. And also good to know; as they run a pretty straight line towards you, in a forest it might be a good idea to run behind things like bushes and trees as you pass em. The zombies change their course pretty much the same time you do and you have already passed the tree/bush/rock so as you change your course, putting the obstacle between you and the Z, it often slows em down and makes them lose you quicker... Just swerve around the forest like a madman and the zombie might need to circle around stuff and get "stuck" so you get distance :) If a zombie persistantly chases me for a long time, I just run around a few bushes and as they're not the cleverest or most agile things in the world, they often hit the bushes while turning and when they kinda stumble, it's your queue to sprint away and get a little headstart again. The longest I've had a zombie chase me was a little over 2km though :D Annoying little bugger. -

Hey, don't worry about it, that actually reminds alot of my first hours. I hadn't played ARMA before and jumped into DayZ without knowing much and the first time I just kept running from zombies until I died, the second time I went on for 2-3 hours and found empty tincans and a sodacan and camped looking out of a warehouse... I heard gunshots and I remember thinking "Wow, another survivor!! I wonder, how could I signal him to my location so he could help a n00b out" lol, little did I know about player encounters in DayZ :D I also found alot of ammo but no gun and when I finally did find a gun, I didn't find bullets for it. aaand when searching through the building with the gun, I got shot from behind. The third time I tried to loot stuff in the night but again, only finding crappy things and some food and ending up freezing in a hangar of some sort, leaving a chemlight outside so people would know I'm inside.. I was so trustworthy back then ;') But then someone showed me the ropes and the most important thing is to learn to navigate the map. And hey, even if you mindlessly wander around chernarus being a n00b, you will eventually start to learn out the landscapes etc. so hang in there, it's all "XP" for you, even if it'd seem to be for nothing sometimes. When you get the handle on navigating (running along the shoreline and learning to recognize some cities like cherno, elektro, solnichniy and berezino is really useful to get you "back on the map" if you're lost) you realize you need to do looting on a much bigger scale. Not just scavenge every single building in one city/town, but rather check the best lootspots of multiple cities and locations. The small stuff scattered everywhere is just good to pick up while on the way somewhere else, but not really worth browsing through in it's entirety. My favourite place is Berezino, easily. "She has been very kind to me" like a Chernarussian could say.. The supermarket and hospital in there usually give you everything you need food and medical supply wise and the apartment complex buildings often have some of the main survival items to go up north (hatchet, hunting knife, matches...) But ofcourse luck has alot to do with it too... and I also suggest that you use a few of your n00b lives to getting comfortable killing the zombies and getting rid of them. It's a bit tricky before you get used to doing it calmly and effectively, instead of panicing and missing alot of shots :D At least that's how it was for me. And as zombies don't run in buildings, it's a very good way to get rid of a zombie horde chasing you by running through a building (for example; One of the big barns.) Run in from the other side and crouch run out from the other and they lose the line of sight and most often lose track of you. Oh and don't practice killing zombies with a Lee Enfield. ;D I learned that the hard way. (On the roof of the berezino apartments, shooting zombies for fun ... until they start swarming on the roof from the only ladder and I start running out of the 7 clips I had :D I agro'd the whole damn eastside of the map, it seemed. edit: oh and sarcasm83 on steam aswell if you wanna add me... and any survival-spirited "good guy" players looking for company, feel free to add me aswell. I'm not into banditry, but it'd be nice to group up every now and then. Just surviving on my own up north and spying on people has become a little too easy and boring and it'd be cool to try and fix some vehicles, find rare loot together etc. lol, 60+ hours played, 0 murders. I only kill people of chernarus in the arma OA editor ;) -
Need Medical Assistance? We can help.
sarcasm83 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you want, I can help :) Been looking for a safer server and so far I've been a damn packrat, finding way more camps than I have room for (and the server my tents are on is down, and no idea if the tents will be there after all this downtime) and generally having way more loot than I can even handle, so if you wanna pm me with your crews names and the server, I'll know who are the friends and we could scavenge stuff together or something. Just suggesting this as I'm getting bored of being a lone wolf player, as I think it'd be way more beneficial to work in a group. And I guess I'd join some faction of the Coalition of medics, but I don't have a working mic and they require it :P But I'm on steam, with the same name, if you, or anyone else is interested. 60+ hours played, 0 murders.... over 9000 deaths ;D ... alot of known camps on other servers and been co-operating some with [TMW] Nurse Kobra, so I also have a "medical connection", lol :D -

Yeah, I haven't seen a single player who was friendly during my 60+ hours. (Except the people who I've decided to meet through a forum, but that's not the same thing..) I'd like to be on a server where there's even a CHANCE there are people who will not shoot me when they see me as I DO NOT shoot people if I see them.. Like I said; It doesn't really hurt mentioning servers as every server is already filled with people who shoot on sight, so it'd be nice to know some servers that the less than 10% of players use who'd like to play friendly. Even on a server with only a few people I seem to get killed. It's gone to the point where I almost would prefer to play the game alone.. (but ofcourse that would take away the excitement and constant doubt of being seen.) Just getting old that I keep immersing myself to the game for days, just to be shot dead with no communication from anyone, ever, for no reason, in a stupid way, because _I_ hoped for company instead of circling any living thing from far away. I'd like to team up with some people or even been surveying people and thought "hmm, I wonder if he'd like some help" but no, it's just too damn risky and everyone always starts throwing some bullets my way just for considering helping them. I've even been killed by people who I had been watching for a while and it was pretty obvious I could've taken the shot to kill them, but I didn't... and they repay that by shooting me >:( I mean dude, if I see you running for 5 minutes around a huge open plain and then you get so close you crawl next to me; I'm not HOSTILE. But yeah, shoot me... I don't mind. It's either you or me and I haven't killed anyone so ofc it's me then... Hey, I'm just playing the game to die for your pleasure, feel free to end it, even if you're geared so that you don't actually need anything. I had only been alive for a damn week and you ended everything for nothing. Thanks <3 Bumming me out, that in the middle of a zombie apocalypse the people still alive are killing the HEALTHY people rather than the zombies ;I At least the realism and immersion to that particular scenario is 100% screwed in the game as it's clear no one on the servers are co-operating unless they've planned for it a month on a DayZ forum. Starting to wonder why I'm even playing this game, to be honest... it's nothing but running around, working towards something bigger than mindless pvp killing and then being killed by a hacker, bug or a guy who thinks this is Call of Duty (and obviously is not playing the game with any sort of immersion). I guess I just see far more potential and so much other possibilities in the game than PvP, but at least alone it's a pointless effort. I guess I need to join a faction of Coalition then? Anyway, really hoping you guys could get something off the ground and give the game some damn depth ASAP as .. I'm a patient guy and I've been killed alot of times after being alive for a LOOOONG time and I haven't yet ragequit or anything, but it is becoming pretty damn pointless and I either need to start killing everyone to get some entertainment (and I know of better games dedicated just for that) or really find some people who play more like me. -
Trade: Looking for GPS and DMR
sarcasm83 replied to Nurse Kobra's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We already found a spot with a DMR inside a tent and I found 2x GPS and let Kobra know where the tent is where he can pick one up. And a while after when Kobra went offline, I died on a server with only 4 players, when a ghillie sniper crawled RIGHT next to me, then upon noticing me, he panic shot me dead. Oh well, off to another server I went and spawned near the Cherno factory.. (or was it electro?) and immediately hear a helicopter.. I see it in the distance and start running towards it, with nothing to lose. I see the guy starting to land the chopper and stop for a while and a zombie agro's and makes me bleed. I run to the chopper, look around for the guy but can't see him.. write "Help?" in direct communication but I'm bleeding like a faucet. My only chance... and the first time helicopter flying I had been expecting with anticipation (Did play ARMA2 chopper tutorial though).... So I hopped in the chopper and flew away up north, parked on a patch in the middle of the woods, patched myself up and went looking for tents with the chopper for survival.. aand now I'm good again. AS50, ghillie, nvg, rangefinder etc.. With the chopper hidden on a server played by 15 people right now :S Can't stop thinking "Did I hide it well enough?" Oh well, starting to get used to losing gear... as if you just keep playing, stuff keeps happening ;D Glad I didn't ragequit after that one guy accidentally CRAWLED to me from behind a bush... SO unlucky :D I bet he needed a change of underwear though, as he clearly didn't notice me up until he was a foot or two away. Yeah, sorry for the off topicness - just get so carried away telling those insane experiences... :P -

Inland or Coastal Isolation?
sarcasm83 replied to Wolfpanzer (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Well, I found a truck on a server and it had 6 tents in it. Took 3, set them up in good well hidden spots, saved the truck.. came back later on and the server had restarted and for some reason the truck and all tents were gone. So I think it's a saving problem. As a hacker can't steal your tents you know. Only you can un-pitch your tent. So it's either there empty or flattened if a player/hacker has messed with it. Oh and on another server, coming back to my maintent that was barely visible; The tree it was "in" had fallen and my tent was flat in front of it .... :PPP No other tree had fallen, so .. I'm thinking the server restarted and the tent and the tree collided somehow and both got destroyed :D Gotta remember it's only an alpha.. but damn, I sure would hope for some non-buggy way of storing some loot.. after all, I've been alive for a LONG time and know of alot of other camps set by players and if I only could manage to get a reliable tent set up, I could steal all that stuff for myself.. *evil laughter* But nope, so far I've been very unlucky. And if the game really isn't about being a packrat and trying to make a camp of some kind, then I have to say; I've become bored of it. I want to make a longer stand and "settle" a bit more than constantly running around and merely surviving. I need to "grow" as a character.. you know :P There's gotta be more to this than grabbing something and fighting with players until you're dead and do it again. -
Inland or Coastal Isolation?
sarcasm83 replied to Wolfpanzer (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
You CAN swim to the Kalisty Island. I've swam out of there after a boat disappeared when a server restarted... just immediately set up a campfire to warm up and I was ok. Sure, it takes a long time as you're no Michael Phelps, but it can be done. Just stock up on heatpacks and swim back at your camp and set a fire and hope you won't get sick :D Edit: Yeah and that said; If you set camp up there, make sure you have a tent or a vehicle to store some heatpacks and antibiotics, if possible. -
The M4A1 cco SD is THE best weapon I've stumbled upon so far. Curiously enough, for the same exact reason you chose the Holo; Because I rarely engage in PvP activity and would only respond fire. And as my main purposes are to loot for equip and mind my own business.. in other words; kill zombies and animals, it's my main weapon. Looting highly zombie infested areas is so easy with it. Just crouchwalk in the buildings and if any zombie gets really close, just pop him in the head with the very accurate laser dot sight and carry on, not a single zombie will aggro as it's SD. It's also the first weapon I rock using at, curiously. I have no trouble hitting even the running zombies in the head and kill em one shot. I guess it's because the accuracy and red dot - who knows. The day I lose that weapon, I'll shed a tear or two. :D For the possible PvP encounters (I try to avoid) I have a secondary suitable for just that; m107 - as I haven't found an AS50. So one for short range, one for long range. Works. But yeah, it is true, that I don't have the force to reply with and turn it to my advantage if I get surprised. Kinda like the holo and 'nade launcher on it can do - so yeah it IS a good strategy aswell. Anyway, it's a matter of opinion and ofc use what you like :) And I can take the spare cco SD and store it in my tent for you.. ;D

The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ
sarcasm83 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
ok, thanks. As when I read about the Coalition and all this, I thought "FINALLY!! Finally someone else who wants to play the game like I do", but I've yet to see any servers mentioned where these similar spirits might be. Even the coalition seems pretty much dead so... was it all talk anyway? I hope the hackers didn't ruin all the attempts at making something bigger for DayZ than just killing random strangers.. And if they're scared that bandits will come on their server where friendlies are needed.. well.. who cares? Every server now is filled with people who shoot on sight so at least the friendly people would know to gather on a same server and we MIGHT get some experiences were we meet a stranger and NOT get killed... I mean.. that'd be pretty damn amazing, but so far very unlikely, at least from what I've experienced :P Edit: Oh and to add, just yesterday I thought that it'd actually be cool to WISH for seeing another living soul in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. But nope, as I run around the server, I'm deadly afraid of seeing anyone else and that's just unrealistic, to be honest. I'd sure like that to change some time in the future. -
I just hope I'd at least get legit players to kill me, instead of the game bugs totally raping me for 8 hours straight or a hacker who spawns behind me and shoots me.. and does it again when I spawn and try to run back north to my tent... and again... and again... and when I get to my tent, the connection is lostand when I finally get back on the server 15 minutes later, the tent is gone. So I guess the server restarted and because the hacker killed me, the tent was lost even if I saved it.. If only the hacker (named Silvio Nittberner) wouldn't have killed me so many times, I would've got there way before the restart.... (Oh yeah I have the hacker on video.. him spawning behind me, me running around a circle around him when he tries to shoot me and talks to me.. he said "I'm the admin you noob" when I said he's hacking and I KNOW admin's don't have power like that. When I said I recorded everything, he dropped his gun to give it to me... didn't pick it up, as he was clearly trying to make my video invalid as... yeah, if I had taken a hacked gun, I'd been doing wrong too.. lol.) And you know what, that's not the last of it. Then I found a truck, which made my loss way less traumatic, as it had 6 tents and EVERYTHING in it. Helicopter parts, guns, fuel, whatever... So I took 2 of the tents, found a spot for them but I put them so near a tree, that I couldn't access either one of them... it just didn't give me the option to pack the tent or access it's gear, as if it wasn't even there. I ran back to the truck, took 2 tents more, set one up nearby and did a few trips to the truck to put the gear there and saved it.. Awesome, I thought! I set the other tent further away and did another trip to the truck to carry more stuff in that tent.. I filled it up and saved. logged out near a tree next to that tent. Later on, when I logged back in, I heard bones breaking and the server notified "sarcasm83 was killed", BUT my character was standing in the middle of nowhere, with totally flat terrain somewhere outside the map, with 2 characters in front of me on the ground... A screenshot, so you believe me: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=94826521 What's also weird, was the fact that I was in perfectly fine health with temperature, drink, food etc maxed green. I had absolutely nothing in my inventory. No pack, gun, nothing. Not knowing what way I could try to run back on the map (and hell, I could be hundred miles away) I disconnected and logged back in. And wow, I spawned on the map, in one of the normal spawnpoints. I think it was somewhere near electro if I remember correctly. The only problem was: I had nothing in my gear. I had no backpack and I had 12000 blood and everything was the same when I was in the middle of nowhere. Oh well, I thought I'd just head north to the tents and gear up there and along the way. Then I noticed the temp, food or drink weren't going down at all. Then let a zombie hit me, to test if I was invincible. Nope, blood did drop when they hit me. I suspected the hacker had run a script on me, but given the fact that I had logged out and come back in, shouldn't that get rid of it? ... I have no idea how scripts or any of it works. WELL, I decided I'll kill myself.. I let the zombies eat me and I spawned and finally got a normal character spawning on the shore. THEN I ran the .. what 16 kilometers(?) up north while literally almost falling asleep... I had been playing til the morning trying to set up the tents so I can go to sleep and continue today :) I had closed my eyes a few times and noticed I had been running to a wall for a while :DD etc. SO when I get to my tent, I see my original corpse next to the tent.. the one that died and then I spawned in the middle of nowhere. I started to loot my corpse and didn't save the tent as the first thing.... AND THE SERVER RESTARTED at that moment. If I had just saved the tent the first thing I got there, I would've made it. But connecting back in, the tent was gone and so was my corpse.. I did take my alicepack and everything it had etc so I did get my gear back. I ran to the other tent and it was gone too as I hadn't saved it after I died from the bug(?)... SO.. the whole 8hours or so was pretty much pointless. I have what I had when I started trying to set up a camp.. I also ran to the truck I had found, but it wasn't there either... dunno why. But yeah... gotta say, that wasn't only frustrating, it was kinda depressing :P :D

passing out everytime i log in
sarcasm83 replied to stingervr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I disconnected to the lobby and connected back in, trying to get rid of artifacting, as none of the other tricks helped (flush, vsync toggle, memory low-default toggle etc...) And ever since then I've connected and passed out. I don't think I was in a shock when I tried to fix the artifacting that way... at least hadn't been in a firefight, but maybe hit by one zombie - but I can't remember having any trouble then... It was ok for some time as I always disconnect in a safe place so I just waited it out... BUT now it's even worse: Every time I log in, I wait for about half of the hourglass to deplete and I get a message "You were kicked out of the game (BattlEye failed to update.)" on every server. Running the right updates and nothing should be wrong and the game worked fine just a few hours ago. Also been getting some missing weapon config file note when trying to join a server and it returns me back to the main menu. :P Damn! Just when I got my very first tent set up and all.. now I can't even check up on it if someone has found it or guard it or anything :S -
So.. how do I get rid off the insanely annoying "Everything is too bright when you look down" thing? I mean when it's daytime and I've been looking at everything for a while, I'm ok, but when I stare at the ground to loot or something, the ground gets all illuminated really bright as if I had just been in dark :PP Annoying when it's changing ALL the time depending on where I look.
-
So wait, if I just happen to have 6 Stanag clips (as I do), what am I supposed to do? Not log in? Drop them and find a different weapon to avoid them filling up? I can't understand why I still have 6 clips to begin with. You'd think once you reload it fills the clip in your weapon, but it doesn't. A full clip to my gun is 30. Now that I re-load, I have 17 bullets in my weapon. Apparently all my clips have 16-17 ammo now? Why don't I have like 3 to 4 full clips and rest would be discarded? It's ridiculous that I have to keep carrying half empty clips and taking up all that inventory space when the bullets would easily fit into less magazines. I just gotta get rid of my "reload after every confrontation" habit I guess... Use the clips empty one at a time, as having multiple almost empty clips eventually will suck so hard. :|

Graphical glitches... possible fix.
sarcasm83 replied to CJBlackbird's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For me, there hasn't yet been a fix that has worked even in the slightest. It's getting insanely frustrating. Can't go near balota, because the military camp artifacts so bad. Always the same thing. Now I'm at the NW airfield for the first time and what do I get; Insane artifacting from the military structures. Seems that I can't go anywhere near military gear as I can't even see if I look that way and the closer I get, the more impossible it becomes to play. I've died like this a few times while trying to get to rare gear, but I just can't go near it :((( I've tried flipping vsync on and off, I've tried setting memory buffer to low and then default.. I've done flush, but it seems to be that it makes the artifacting WORSE than better. Even if I disconnect while looking at the artifacting and connect back in, it's still there. AMD HD 6800 series card and I have no idea where to turn off ambient occlusion in the ati catalyst control center, as someone mentioned that might help. Just.. depressing... just had to stop playing when I realized I can't go to the airfield because of this after travelling a long way to go there... Any ideas, anyone? -
The Coalition - Changing the Culture of DayZ
sarcasm83 replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What makes you think the Coalition won't have a sniper or five looking over them from a distance? ;) I definately wanna join this.. I've been playing alone and right now the bandit situation has looked so bad I haven't had the balls to approach any players, I've just circled around them. But definately looking for more interaction with players than firefights... So at least I'm willing to help, even though I'm not in a group/clan etc... Edit: Read the whole thread and not a single server or anything is mentioned... I mean... sure, ofcourse you won't post the main server here to avoid bandit raids or so, but at least let us know a few where some of you good guys might be... I mean, I'm a loner who'd like a bit less "shoot on sight" action as it's getting pretty boring to just loot and avoid people. So ... where do we get these new experiences at? And I'd really like some objectives for my DayZ - so it'd be even nice to continue doing what I do now (lone wolf, looting, surviving) but with a POINT of like.. dunno, collecting supplies for medics or whatever that gives me a "mission" :) As I'm having hard time trying to come up with things to do and it's just alot of running... So yeah... where are the public playgrounds where friendliness is more encouraged? :) (That should boost up your "marketing" too.. hehe :)) -
Stop saying "friendly" and immediately trusting me
sarcasm83 replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
Well, none of my real friends play DayZ, unfortunately. I guess I could try talking a few into it though. I'd just prefer some honesty, in-game... If someone is going to kill me, I hope they act the part... instead of calling out friendly and acting friendly until I start trusting them and then taking the sure kill, shooting me from behind while I look out to cover us both. I mean, that just pisses players off and if OP is that good at gearing up as he says he is, he shouldn't have to resort to things like that to begin with. AND it's way easier looking for rare loot together and picking up the rarest best finds, than getting the basic gear and then killing someone to get pretty much the same basic gear and a few things you can use. I mean, my inventory is always almost full anyway and I only look for rare items or the things I'm in need off. Killing a player for his full inventory is pretty non-beneficial to me, unless he just so happens to have something rare. And I'd still rather take my chances on finding everything I need with the help of an extra pair of eyes accompanying me... But hey, it's just a matter of preferance... you like to play like that, I like to play like this so.... not that I'm judging you.... It's just that I keep getting crap from other players 90% of the time and the 10% of the time is encounters I'm actually hoping for so it's a bit depressing every now and then. I think it'd make for cooler experiences to build up alliances, groups and roleplay a little more instead of all the "run and gun, kill everything for loot" approach... but again, that's just my opinion. -
Stop saying "friendly" and immediately trusting me
sarcasm83 replied to Obsolescence's topic in New Player Discussion
...aaand this is why you can't even trust people who say they're friendly. So there's actually no possible way to find actual friendlies, as even the bandits say they're friendly and act so until they get in a cheap shot. And OP actually played along and acted friendly and travelled with him and THEN took the 0% challenge shot at his head... "wow" ;P Makes me sad. But oh well, I guess all this playing solo will eventually make me a bandit too, as there's absolutely no reason to try and make friends as that's the reward you get for it. BUT I might still mention that I've met a total random hero in the middle of the night and teaming up with him benefitted me waaay more than shooting him would've. He was in need of a bloodtransfusion, so he seeked me out and had been following me from the dark for quite a while, figuring out I'm not that hostile. He contacted me once I was in a bad spot, un-armed me, helped me out, gave me nvg's and took me on a boatride. On the island, he had 3 tents.. from which he gave me a ghillie suit, L85 thermal scoped sniper a tent, gps, rangefinders and a silenced pistol. And to be honest, it would've been a total dickmove to shoot him in the back of the head after he had armed me. Honestly, I gringe even thinking about me doing that, since I, personally, don't enjoy making others feel as annoyed as possible. (But the internet has proved that there are ALOT of people who enjoy the oppourtunity to make everyone else feel bad while anonymous... I don't want to do anything like that even if I "can get away with it") We played until he went offline and I "served" as his follower as a thank you for gearing me up and that's waaaaaay more fun than I've had surviving alone and endlessly running around lootspots avoiding people like OP. -
My guess is he's Finnish. (The nickname is pretty much "Saran Wrapz" in finnish at least.) I'm a rather n00bish(?) finnish lone wolf who has had good gear ... Once :D Got pretty well geared after familiarizing myself/dying multiple times from newbie mistakes. I figured I'd do some night time looting to get geared up, on low population servers and came across crashed heli's etc.. DayZ gave.. DayZ took away... (had ghillie, nvg, sniper rifle etc.) but I lost it all and now I'm a pretty basic Lee Enfield wielding guy, lost without a map somewhere in solnichniy, getting used to daytime servers and more populated servers. Been kinda struggling to get by though, playing solo... the zombies seem to spot you from further away daytime than when I began playing about a month ago (or is it just me?) and I've had hordes of em attack me just trying to loot very basic equipment locations (for food and water) Got totally ripped apart by zombies inside a building after attracting a few of them.. shot a few and then they just kept coming... Got pinned inside a building with only one entrance... They came in faster than I could kill em with my enfield and .. yeah. RIP me. That traumatized me so bad, it made me really think I need someone to play with, as it's a hard world out there alone :D DID find my corpse though but disconnected a while later because I pretty much ran out of ammo and chickened out :( Edit: Oh and I'm 28, been playing for... I'd say 20-30 hours maybe? But I still feel a little lost, so I haven't taken off my n00b shoes just yet. Haven't had much player encounters. One guy shot me in the back in a building without me ever even seeing him and seen some people without them seeing me and avoided confrontation. Starting to get bored of servers that only have like 4-8 people, as night-time servers are less popular etc.. I don't prefer killing players unless they've done something to me first and so far haven't killed a single player... though it might make me the "good guy", it also makes me somewhat inexperienced. And I don't hack or use scripts and not looking for company who does :P Not that talkative type in the mic though - not even sure if my headphone mic is set up right.. but I text direct communicate like a master ;P So let's say if anyone wants a follower for their adventures, I'm up for it. sarcasm83 @ steam aswell.

Bring back the temperature reading in debug.
sarcasm83 replied to She'llberight's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed.. and I do the same. Usually haven't really seen or noticed much change in the thermometer - but sometimes you can clearly notice your character is cold when his hands are shaking and he's making shivering sounds and breathing "like he's cold"... which kinda sounds more like he's scared shitless. I mean at least I suspect that was the case "last night", because I hadn't really been running(so he wasn't out of breath), or hadn't been hurt and he was shaking and shivering. I wonder if I could just trust those "symptoms" to avoid illness, as the thermometer really is a little too vague. I once got sick without ever seeing it go "black" or "blinking" like someone mentioned... I've been getting sick way too many times, imo :P I just like nightservers because zombies don't see you that well while looting. Daytime they almost feel too overpowered when you're simply trying to look through a few buildings and end up either going through all your ammo or dying :P (solo playing is hard :S) -
Well, I don't know; It seems to me they already do have pretty damn big hordes every now and then. I don't know if they've changed something, but I was on the first time in a while on a daytime server yesterday and I got absolutely swarmed. They saw me from a crouchwalk from really far away and just started sprinting at me.. And when one of them started running, the rest started following the running zombie, as if I had fired a gun - but I didn't. I was crouched the whole time, stopped when the first one agro'd... at least 30-40 meters away. I mean sure, the zombie's view was unobstructed.. But it still felt a bit unusual that it saw me from that far away. I ended up having to start running because the 8-10 zombies sprinting at me and I only had a Lee Enfield; which would pull every zombie on me if I pulled the trigger. While running, the horde grew to at least 20 zombies from around the buildings in Solnichniy.. Ran inside a house, backed to the room furthest away from the exit and started shooting them as they came, but no matter how much I shot and hit with every bullet, they swarmed the room, surrounded me and ate me alive. :| I did manage to get back to my corpse and even then attracted a few of them... Hid in the backroom hiding like a little girl, terrified of what had happened to me earlier and had to disconnect as the building was surrounded by at least 20 zombies. And as far as I know, there was no one else around solnichniy at the time - only 6 or 7 players on the server. I must say, it felt like the server was set on some sort of "NIGHTMARE" difficulty, as I felt like there was no way I could survive there alone :PP And that was indeed a horde if I ever saw one. Edit: Oh and yes, I'm on the latest updates. And I already got absolutely slaughtered right before that happened in a similar scenario where I couldn't kill all the zombies attacking me with 6 full makarov clips. But ... I admit, I paniced a little and sucked at headshots. There were just so many D: I guess I could look for some friends to play DayZ as I've only been playing alone and I keep dying from zombies, getting sick from cold etc....

[1.5.7] Keep Spawning at the Coast
sarcasm83 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well, even if it's a bit tricky to get up-to-speed when you spawn defenseless, I think it will teach you waay faster how to be cautious and survive, than you spawning with a handgun etc... You have to learn how to avoid zombies and think what you loot. And if you keep dying, at least you'll eventually be damn ace in navigating the beach and spawnpoint areas and gear up pretty fast. Everything in this game is XP for YOU - even if the game's not counting it ;) So try to think of even the unfairest deaths as a learning experience, and it might keep you in the right mindset for the game :D That's what I do at least. Oh and a n00b without a gun isn't often something players shoot at. When I spawn and have nothing to lose, I just keep running whenever not around zombies and I rarely ever get shot, even if players would notice me. As I'm not even worth their (possibly rare) bullets. Tip: If and when you find a pistol but no ammo for it, put it inside your bag instead of holding it in your hand. Or hey, maybe even if you already have bullets for it.. at least then you won't seem like a threat and can go about pretty peacefully until you find better loot. But anyway, eventually you'll get better at finding loot and knowing your way around the place... but the main thing you need to do, is accept the many deaths to come. Everyone in this game dies eventually and has to start over.. lol, I started playing only 2-3 weeks ago aswell and I remember how I was actually pretty pissed about me walking around for 2 hours not finding anything and then being shot in the head from behind... little did I know that "2 hours of wandering for nothing" is actually a very gentle way to go in DayZ world. DayZ really needs to be treated like a whole different type of game... you need to accept anything... I could even quote mythbusters and say; "Failure's always an option" :D
