IF you are renting a server from a host such as vilayer, hfb, or altitude, it is up to them to allow you access to the files/logs for you to download/parse/go through. I was renting from HFB but the lack of control of the server/files themselves drove me to rent out an actual box and now it is MUCH easier to catch hackers. Some great tools have been created for admins to use in catching hackers. DayZ Radar is one that works great. I can literally see the hacker on the build in map, teleporting to players and killing them as the hackers line zig zags around, and the players he "cuts off" with death either die or log from the server ending their line on the graphical map. So then I know who to ban from my server. Renting from a bloated company hoster for DayZ hosting only comes with no power, and no control other than taking the server down, or restarting it. Worth 30-40$ a month right? I know how you feel, but no one can truely change all this BS with the hackers except the Devs themselves.

Still looking for players to stress test our new server set up. 'Cons are running, some tools I pulled from this forum are also in use to help us identify and ban hackers. We have 80 slot available usually but right now we are at 60 max for testing. Come help us out!

Well thanks to a screwed up gamespy/dayzcommander/six launcher the server doesnt show up on a public list. Then thanks for a useless battleye, there is NO anti cheat detection for the servers and hackers do what they want anyways. So what is the point? Server is down due to excessive hacking-battledome and mass teleportation. Makes the game unplayable. Sorry for the inconvenience and deaths as I died too. Ill bring it back up once I get more solid ways to block hackers/scripts. If there are any current server admins who would be willing to give me a hand with this I would appreciate it.

And this is approvable by DayZmod Dev Team for an instance ID?

According to DayZmod Devs VPS/VDS are not allowed for DayZmod Server hosting. Is this incorrect? Can I host on a VPS? Many ISPs sell Virtual Private Servers (VPS) with the assumption that any given server will be idle for the majority of the time, thus allowing them to host several VPSes on the same physical hardware. A DayZ server will consume a lot of processing power on a regular basis, which makes it difficult to host DayZ servers on a VPS. Most VPSes will also not give you a commitment on processing power, but instead provided it on an as-available basis. If the physical hardware is running a lot of processes, your VPS may not get the required CPU power to run a DayZ server. So, in almost all cases, no. You cannot run a DayZ server on a VPS. UAZ/ATV spawn in the gates of Green Mountain. But that is usually hit immediatly after a server comes in to service as it is a known and easily accessible location.

Gun is just as rare as the mags basically :(

Just keep in mind that most providers are managed server offerers and you have 0 control of anything server related. The only options you get to change and pay for are the slots (more slots = higher cost), Difficulty, Recruit, Regular, Veteran. (Not really important in the fact that you either way X amount of options or X amount of options.) ie. Crosshairs, Nametags, Map etc. All useless choices. You also have no control over your updates. You can not update your server yourself as most providers have made agreements with managed server hosts to take all server config privledges away from server owners. So you honestly gain VERY little by owning a server. If you want any flexability while still adhereing to DayZmod rules go for an unmanaged dedicated server. Thats just me, I used HFB for my first server hosted by them and it was a terrible nightmarish garbage can for the month of July.

Then I guess I do not understand why you are quoting and replying to everyones posts in this thread about the remarks they make about your suggestion. I have yet to see one person including yourself make a valid reason for helicopters to be removed. If this is a suggestion as you have said it is, then make your suggestion and allow others to make theirs. If you do change your mind and actually need some qualified resistance, PM me and let me know. We would love to have some legit combat against another well assembled group.

Those of you who do not wear bandit clothing are just content with murdering everyone and destroying any type of RPG immersion available. If you do not have SOME kind of identifying mark of a mass killer/bandit, no one will ever trust anyone ever. Ive done the whole "Do you need assistance are you friendly" and gotten an axe to the face or a bullet in the head. That just is not fun. I think he is asking if anyone knows what the script would look like in the server logs for a player guid that would log into the server already wearing the scripted uniform? But a script would not be ran if he was already wearing it when he spawned onto the server. He would have to execute the script while already playing if he didnt already have it, No?

If you read the thread you will see me saying my group has one, we had several already. It's not that hard to find the parts at all. You can fill it up very quickly of you have 5 people working on it - like clans usually do. - Fixed as in fully repaired to green? And are you on a server by yourself? Locating and keeping a chopper is one thing but when on a full 40/40 server makes it hard to keep track of your vehicles let alone your helicopter. Repairing it is not just 1 scrap metal, 1 rotor and 1 windscreen.... How have you had several within the beginning of a week launch of them? They aren't easy to shoot down at all. You need to shoot it several times to bring it down unless you shoot the pilot and kill him. - Then whoever has been shooting is a terrible shot. You have a tutorial to teach you how to fly one so it being hard to fly isn't really a point here. -Actually it is, because most people do not go practice on the tutorial editor etc, and when you have 5 people in your heli and you are being shot at from the ground and attempting to move out of the way it honestly is not that easy to avoid getting hit. ( I Guess if a toddler is shooting at you would be simple) There are 2 choppers per server. -Good to know. :) Repairing a car is not really hard. Almost every dude can do it. I agree that changing an engine is kinda ridiculous though and really hard. However they don't even come near the complexity of a helicopter. You aren't thirsty and starving all the time in DayZ. No I don't and I have made a suggestion on how weapons should degrade and require maintenance and how military gear should be nearly impossible to find. Correct me if I am wrong, but is this nor a military simulator/Zombie Apocalypse survival mod/game? So the story of you survivor is? (How did they get there, what were they before did he have any skills or was he a ridiculously dressed civilian? Have you looked at the wiki to see what it takes to fix a helicoptor? Not to mention the 120+ jerry cans it takes to fuel it? Or the fact that if even the windscreen is damaged it will leak fuel even if it is landed? Have you ever watched the noobs jump in a heli spawned by a hacker in cherno and minutes later wreck it horribly? LOL Yeah helicopters have a nice advantage, but are easily shot down and a pain in the ass to maintain. Not to mention there is only 1 per server last I heard. So they are very much sought after. I think your point is moot and 2+ helis should spawn to counter the single spawning heli. Some of you must not have yet been in combat while in a heli, or had to emergency land a heli, or perhaps flown the heli itself. It is actually VERY difficult to move that big piece of metal around the sky while being shot at by a Mark 48 Mod 0. Not to mention it is SO much easier to see the big oval UFO flying in the plain sky then to see a camo clothed surviver sitting against a house in a residential location or major city. Some of your complaints and such are miniscule when put in contrast.
