Couldn't play because I was spending the past week living in a real life Chernarus
namsek replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
While I was driving towards Union, NJ in my repaired vehicle the day following the storm, I raided a grocery store and loaded up on beans, coke, and pepsi. The cashiers weren't too happy when I tried to walk out without paying though.. They also gave me weird looks when I asked them where they keep their Enfields and shotguns.. -

Read the first line of the post, immediately burst out laughing.. don't even need to read anymore.

best thread on this forum. Please continue :D

I like this idea. When reading this I was thinking even one step further with maybe having to boil water that you fill from lakes/ponds over a fire to kill any bacteria in it (since this is an infectious zombie apocalypse and all). You could drink the water without boiling it, but maybe it gave you a 1-2% chance to catch a virus.. idk, too far? :P

This. Even if the hero you killed was doing the same thing you were (covering a friend in town), it'd be incredibly difficult to give someone like that the benefit of the doubt.

I generally peek inside tents that I find in my travels, even if I don't particularly need anything. If they have food and drink, I'll usually top myself off so as not to diminish my own supply as quickly. Last night I came across a chopper wreckage and found an extra ghillie suit (I already have one). I later find a 4 tent camp of some players who seem to be just starting out, since none of there tents have high-end gear. I think the most advanced weapon they had was a Bison, no NVG's, GPS's, nothing. So I decided to do my one good deed for the day and left them the extra ghillie suit I found. That should make for a nice surprise when they log back in :)

Happened to a friend of mine a month ago or so.. three of us were taking a small AFK break after looting Vybor. I came back to my computer to see one of my friends moving around and thought nothing of it until he threw a grenade right at our feet and all three of us were killed.. After promptly cursing him out when he got back on skype he assured me he was away grabbing a drink and his game was minimized.. That's the first time I've seen that hack in the game.

What's the farthest fall you've had without breaking your legs?
namsek replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Last night while playing with a friend of mine, I accidentally fell off a barn loft down to the ground. I passed out and was losing blood, but amazingly my legs did not break. Literally 30 minutes later, in an apartment building in Cherno just standing still, the same friend barely touches me as he's walking by and BAM! Instant broken legs.. -
it happened about 10 minutes before I posted about it.. and unfortunately I did not get the player's name.

Unfortunately, I was just playing on US 2725 and encountered a hacker. I was riding a bike I found up around the north east edge of the map when I started getting shot at. I continued to take fire as I was riding away, and the shots from the gun were constantly heard right next to me whilst riding 30mph, the shots weren't coming from a distance. I could also see the smoke from the gun as they were firing right behind me, but the person was invisible. He eventually hit me enough times and I died. Just a friendly notice. :) Might want to check your logs if you're concerned.

Awesome story man

I just got sniped out of a UAZ at 80 kmh.

I approve of the above post  Glad to see as well that the OP is accepting of what happened and not cursing up a storm about it. You have my beans :beans: -
Just a little funny joke, cheessy but funny (Check this out)

Now THAT had me laughing good! -
The time it takes for you to react to what just happened, plus the animation time it takes to throw a grenade leaves you vulnerable to fire from any of the other teleport victims or the hacker himself.. not worth it if you're worried about losing your character.

I think any bandit that spots you is going to try and kill you regardless of what weapon you're using :P Back to the topic though, I agree with keeping the DMR, mainly as people mentioned since ammo is more common and the scope being NVG capable.

You know you play to much DayZ when..
namsek replied to Anarchyihdi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This actually happened to me yesterday.. I'm using google maps to check directions somewhere, and I'm using scrollwheel DOWN to zoom in, scrollwheel UP to zoom out, and right-clicking to drag the map.. and I'm wondering why none of it is working right! :P -
Glad the OP was enjoying the game even through death.. be it from a hacker or not. I died last night after almost 20 days alive and having scavenged almost all the best gear in the game. A friend and I were making our way south from Stary when we heard a huey overhead, so we went prone and waited to see what he was doing. Somehow he must have seen us running through the trees so he positioned the chopper in front of us with his buddy in the gunner position trying to aquire us in his sights. Luckily they were hovering low and steady enough that my friend, thanks to his quick reaction, was able to snipe the gunner out of the chopper with his AS50 and we watched him fall a good 400m to the ground. After that the chopper pilot retreated. Needless to say we had a good laugh from what happened. Unfortunately after continuing our journey south just after passing Pusta, another player had eyes on me in a near tree line and took me out with a G36C SD.. not sure if he scripted it in himself or just picked it up off of someone else. My friend travelling with me was able to avenge my death though by taking him out after discovering his position. Still not mad about losing all my stuff though.. it was a fun night. :)

So is this considered murder or suicide?

Please help for possibly the worst bug of all..
namsek replied to Matthias1987's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I had the same exact thing happen to me a few nights ago, doing nothing but trying to log into the same server I usually play on. If you remember where you logged out last prior to this happening, you have a chance of your body still remaining there and you can find it and reclaim all of your stuff. This was the case with me. Good luck! -
Nice to see a positive post about being killed in a firefight for a change. Most players would be throwing out every curse word they can think of. This attitude is all too rare. Respect! Good luck re-gearing!

Petition to remove anti-serverhopping coast spawn UNTIL IT IS FIXED
namsek replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I generally log into one server (with my tents/vehicles, etc.) and even sticking to my one server I still occasionally get stuck at loading screens. I've been put at the coast several times by closing the game and trying to re-join the same server. The way I've been able to combat this problem is by keeping the infinite-loading game up while alt-tabbing back to dayzcommander (or sixlauncher) and joining the server again in a new instance of the game. If I'm able to get into the server properly on the second instance, I'll still be where I logged off originally and then I'll close the first instance of the game that's still stuck on the loading screen. If the second one doesn't work, just rinse and repeat. The most I've had to open at one time is 4 instances of the game before I'm able to properly load in my server, then cancel the rest. Hopefully this helps others dealing with this annoying problem. -
Stupidest Ways to Die in DayZ
namsek replied to RainboWarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So there is this tree.. Not just any tree, mind you, but THIS tree... This tree resides in a large wooded area (shocking, right?) just north of the coast and slightly west of Elektro. It was just after dusk and a buddy of mine and I were making our way to the city to replenish some much needed supplies. Being akin to basic survival strategies, we stuck to the tree line north of the coast as we ran, wandering slightly into the woods as we headed on our journey. Both of us had slightly better than average gear, with me being fortunate enough to find camo'd clothing in a chopper wreckage a few nights before. Unbeknownst to us, a [random] tree that we were approching had an insatiable bloodlust that would soon ruin our adventures. As I passed by this particular tree, within about half an arm's length away, my game started glitching out. I stopped moving forward and was seemingly trapped by some invisible texture right next to the tree. Within a span of about 10 seconds, immediately following me getting trapped for unknown reasons, my legs misteriously broke, I was immediately knocked unconsious, and I went from full health to zero. Definitely the most anti-climactic way to go out and left me cursing questionably over skype with my friend trying to figure out what had just happened. But the tree's thirst was not quenched. When my friend, who was about 50 meters back from me when this happened, approached my body to try and secure my stuff as I ran back, the tree struck again, felling him the exact same way it did me. We exhausted all rational possibilities. There was no beartrap, no other survivors that could have gunned us down, nothing. This was just a case of a tree gone mad. Tree: 2, Us: 0
