Currently, if you paint your mosin, you will only be able to chamber 1 single bullet into it. It is a bug and will be resolved soon I guess.

Unfortunately, DayZ requires Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1 to run. So your friend will have to upgrade to Vista or Windows 7 in order to play DayZ. I personally recommend Windows 7.
