Weapon Attachments spawn in loot piles

STALKER had that system long before BF3/COD stole it. Go have a look at the weapon system in ARMA 3. I'm going to assume that is to your liking. For those that haven't seen it (get out from under your rock), any weapon that has a rail/attachment system gets slots which can have attachments that use those systems to be added to the weapon, including suppressors/muzzle breaks of the corresponding caliber. So you can go from having a bog standard M4, to attaching a flashlight, M203 launcher and an ACOG scope or laser sight, suppressor, reflex sight and foregrip. Kind of like the make your own sundae bars. Obviously nothing has been said, but i would think its one of the things that gets 'borrowed' from the ARMA 3 engine along with the whole inventory system. -
Ok, you want tanks in game. How about attack choppers, fighters, ground attack planes and a couple of warships. I mean theres a decent size military airfield so there must be military aircraft, and theres a sea/ocean so ships would be fine as well. Would instantly ruin the game imo.

Firearms Should Not Be The Main Instrumentality Of DayZ

Ask yourself some questions before commenting on the 'guns' issue. 1. How many zombies do you avoid rather than just kill? 2. The ones you avoid, do you avoid them because you don't want to make noise and attract attention (i.e. players) to your location or is it due to ammo concerns? 3. The ones you kill, are you killing them for a specific reason? (stopping you from getting to a loot pile with something good in it, etc) 4. Do you carry a silenced weapons so that putting down zombies dosn't attract attention? My experience mostly is that players avoid killing zombies unless they have no other choice (Cherno/Elektro madman sessions not withstanding) and keep their guns and ammo for engaging players. -
I'm kind of expecting a complete DB purge with 1.8.0 or thereabouts.

Useful? not really but definitely hilarious and possibly a good light source. He means a bolt as in nut and bolt, not bolt as in arrow for crossbow. I'm down for the trip flares/smoke idea for sure (Rocket has spent some time in the military so i am sure he knows how useful trip flares are). Make the molotov require matches/zippo and i'm down for that one as well. You get to keep the matches/zippo. Any sort of proximity triggered explosive is probably not a good idea. Maybe a satchel charge/pipe bomb + radio for an IED that can be detonated from a limited distance and even then i can see problems.

On most crossbows these days they have a quiver on the crossbow itself. Sometimes people call them a quick quiver. Usually they are 3 - 5 arrows on the quiver. So maybe a possible solution is to have a 3/5 round magazine with a long time between shots, about 5/6s to load a bolt is fairly realistic. This would allow you to carry more ammo and free up some inventory. And yes the sights need some work.

Also love this idea. I do agree that they could become very overpowered though. Can probably fix that by making one of the parts required fairly rare, like handlebars, chain or the seat maybe. And yes i was also thinking about aggroing a shitload of Zs and they whipping past someone ringing the bell, possibly with a 'Run Bro' by voice on direct comms.

+1 for the poncho system. If rocket is looking into rain making players catch a cold or something along those lines - there probably should be an item to reduce the risk, but obviously would be as good as being inside a building/tent. The ability to use if to fill up canteens using the could be a side bonus. Should still be an action though, not automatic. -
Didn't they already admit the gun isn't real and said it was modeled off a real Winchester .44 level action, which specific model - i have no idea. And for those arguing about the difference between rifles and shotguns - you can get grooved barrels for shotguns (with longer range ammo to match) and you can get pellet ammo for rifles (it doesn't do the barrel any favours but you can do it). This is why they now just come under the label of firearms or small arms to avoid a legal definition needing to be made.
