In a perfect world, you be banned for your POS attitude before it comes to that. Since that's not gonna happen, then yes, you would be banned for not dropping it. Contrary to what you are implying, hackers and skiddies do not run around scripting guns into people's hands. If it does happen, it is incredibly rare. Never seen it, no one in my former clan has ever seen it, no one in my current group has seen it, and none of the QQ threads about hackers have ever mentioned it that I have seen. Maybe it is in fact a rampant problem, but the players are just fine with having hacked gear (they're obviously not complaining about it)? If that's the case, they should get the banhammer along with the hackers. Either way, you are just plain wrongtarded. Since you don't like thinking, I'll help you out here: Add the mechanic only at the time of picking up the weapon, so if it is spawned directly into your hands, you'll be fine. Although the skiddies would abuse this and start scripting directly into their own inventories, which means my original suggestion was better. Either way, your crappy excuses really make you sound like a pathetic skiddie looking for ways to justify your hacked gear. -

Right now, there is very little motivation to NOT kill on sight. You remove a threat and gain their items. There needs to be some motivation to play in a different way, the hero skin movespeed and supposed bullet resistance is a step in the right direction towards balancing things out. -

What are you talking about? The easy ability to mod and script the game is what made Arma 2 fun for their community prior to DayZ coming out. They will not remove the scripting etc. because they would essentially take a giant crap on the vanilla players to benefit the DayZ players, which would not be fair. It has nothing to do with the 'skill' of the developers. -

Or there could be a timer that issues them a warning to drop the hacked weapon, so even new players would learn quickly to not pick up guns from suspicious ammo crates? It would be incredibly easy to code and very simple to understand. Please donate your brain to a local clinic if you refuse to use it. -
Your post is full of fail. The M4A1 CCO SD does the same damage as all the other M16 and M4 series, which means it is a 2 shot kill just like all the others. The comment about PVP is also wrong, it is the same balance that is has been for weeks. A large number of KOS survivors, a decent chunk of COD kiddies running straight to Cherno, and a handful of friendlies. Were you trolling or just ignorant?

SKIP TO THE RED PART IF YOU JUST WANT THE LOOT My group and I (lovingly dubbed my merry men :D) are soon to be switching servers, although we're not sure exactly where we will be heading. Our primary pass times are hoarding gear and vehicles (meaning a pickup truck and two ATVs, not the entire server), followed by randomly distributing it to every person we can find. We do other stuff too, of course, such as going right into the middle of Elektro and seeing how many zombies we can take out in a blaze of glory, or maybe seeing how long we can maintain a free taxi service along the coast. In short, we go about trying to create a better Chernarus and make the game more enjoyable for as many people as possible. After discovering that our current server is operated by hackers, we've decided to pull up roots and find a new home town for our nefariously good willed schemes. Any server admins around willing to take in a bunch of vagabonds? PMs please :D On a side note, our former server was US 1704. There's plenty of goodies we left behind if anyone cares to go grab some, although the loot may disappoint you when compared to hacker camps. There are three tents right in the middle, and in them we have 1 as50 (maybe 2??? we're not sure), 2 or 3 DMRs, an M14 AIM, 1 M4A1 CCO SD, and one M249 SAW. There is also a metric ton of less rare guns, including most AK variants and most of the M series (M4s and M16s) and maybe one M9SD in one of the tents. There is also a tent packed full of medical supplies under the tree next to them, another tent filled with vehicle parts across the clearing. There are two ghillies in the medical tent, and I believe there may or may not be an extra GPS in one of the tents as well. Also, there is a working pickup truck (you'll need a jerry can) and an ATV (this should have jerry cans in it). Our camp was located at 038-038 on US 1704. To find the tents, go to the hill northwest of the NWAF and head to the small clearing at 38 38, then head ever so gently into the trees to the northeast. I would encourage anyone heading there not to kill leach other, as there is plenty of guns and ammo for everyone. Also, we know there is a scooby van in Zelenogorsk. If you remember my last story, To the -gay- team, then you may remember a certain bus that we tried to repair. That bus is still by the road near Kabanino. There's also the small matter of the hacker's camp. I don't have the exact coordinates, but it is on the very edge of the map west of zelenogorsk, on top of a large hill. There is so much barbed wire and tank traps that it actually caused artifacting on my screen, which was what enabled me to find it (irony, sweet irony; by protecting their camp they gave away its location). I don't know how much variance there was as far as north and south is concerned, but if you head to far west and start working your way down the edge starting around Zeleno, you should find their camp. There's not much left. I had just spawned in Kamenka and decided to run up the western edge of the map, and the artifacting made it hard to miss their camp. When I looked in the tents and found lovely items such as silenced PDWs and other neat little surprises, I wasn't sure what to do with it. Then I remembered that my tiny starting pack had only eight spaces. Let's just say my backpack is also the world's greatest trash compactor! Roughly 50 guns felt the wrath of my coyote patrol pack, and only the sidearms were spared. After that, I saved all the tents and loaded all the GPSs and NVGs into their Ural. My plan was to ride back to my camp and get as much of my own gear as possible before blowing up the ural and everything inside (not sure if that actually destroys the items, but it was worth a shot). Problem is, one of them teleported next to me and stole the ural back before I could plant my hand grenade under it. It may be back at their camp near Zeleno, I'm not really sure. Just be careful about going over there if 'bob' or anyone with HCS tags is in there server, they are likely to appear next to you for an execution. That's all the intel I have, although I believe there are a good number of vehicles still in their original spawns on this map. Good hunting. :D

I realize that the cons may sound like not such a big deal, but let me give you a few examples of why these can be bad: Admin abuse cannot be reported. Period. If you annoy the admin in any way, you are gone. If someone says you're a hacker, the admin may just ban you without investigating. If you find a car and the admin wants it, you're gone. Etc. More loot and vehicles sounds good, but on one private hive I ventured into, there were silenced guns in every fire station and 2-3 vehicles in every city. Might as well go play BF3. Starting with more gear sounds good too, except that one particular server I know of lets you 'buy' guns. Making a donation to the owner meant you would always spawn with an L85AWS, and the larger donators would always spawn with a car. All I'm saying is, be careful which server you pick. Some of the private hives are worse than public hives. -

If you use DayZ Commander, private hives are marked with a small X to left of the server name. Your characters on other servers have no effect here, and you will have to make one from scratch. Pros for private hives: 1. Admins have significantly more power. If you smell like a hacker, they can ban you without having to provide logs. 2. More/better loot and vehicles, if the admin has chosen to create it that way. 3. Side chat is usually enabled. 4. Sometimes you start with more gear. Cons for private hives: 1. Not only can anti hacks be implemented, but other gameplay quirks can be addressed as well. I know of at least one private hive where alt+f4ing within 10 seconds of firing a shot or taking damage will result in your character being killed. -
I don't know why you are mentioning Rocket, he didn't make the maps to begin with. Any level that is designed will quickly be mapped out by players and uploaded, and the devs can do nothing about it. They could, however, make randomized buildings, spawn points, loot tables, etc so that the maps would be less accurate.

Does server restarting every x hours mean I shouldn't go vehicle hunting?

Servers usually warn you before restarting. Exit vehicle and use the save vehicle option. The vehicle will reappear in that same location after the restart, with the same inventory. Same with tents, use the save option before the restart or before logging off. If you don't save, the tent will look like it did when you last saved it after every restart. -
