Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
robinhood (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
ok i'm going to stand up and apologise for my childish response earlier. But i do feel you are assuming many things but that could be down to misrepresentation in my posts. I dont just kill on sight, thzts an assumption you've made. Despite me thinking theres too much ammo (something relative to my playing experience) and thinking zombies are underpowered and under numbered that doesnt change the fact i stilll have to kill zombies to survive and its something i do everytime i play the game. you also assume.. 1 - that i dont kidnap, threaten, mug other players already myself 2 - that i dont kill zombies and that "me and my pussy friends run away" I can tell you that both of these assumptions are infact wholy wrong but again i cant blame you for making those judgments based on my earlier posts. That you "lack imagination" rhetoric is pretty benign and theres no point even discussing that. back on topic, i dont think there should be any bandit identifying characteristics. The term baby faced assasin comes to mind. -

why the F do i lack imagination... because zombies are weak and there arnt enough of them to kill? they arnt a challenge end of. who the hell wants to kill retarded zombies and "imagine" the rest. and as for the im either a hacker or a liar?! wow.. im going to assume you suck at this game because me and my friends find more ammo than fukin food. why the hell would you find m107 ammo in a dear stand if the m107 spawns 20 kilometers away... its excessive and you and pussy "i want more ammo and food and love and kisses" friends should go play left 4 dead. you can carry on "imagining" this game is challenging and "lying" to yourself while me and my friends trall through ammo raping your looted corpses harharharharharggghhh (bandit face) [Warned - Ubi] -

BAHHAHAHA the sever was "Day z dallas 24/7" an alt hive server. happened around 00:30 like 3 times, manage to survive all 3 times and got 9 murders, it was frickin hilarious and terrifying at the same time. It got me an as50, L85, cayote and rangefinder. if you live through it it teleports you onto the runway of the northwest airfield. I hope i dont have to go through that again.. -
[From a bandit] You suck, your attitude is wrong and need to GTF over it

Tools to kill, but nothing worth killing.. we're drunk with power.
robinhood (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Anyone else feel like we've been given the tools and means to kill, yet there is nothing worth killing? Essentially we've not been given tools to survive but more that we've been given tools to Fight. And while imerged in such a forgiving "survival" enviroment we've found nothing worth doing other than teaming up to kill each other. People tend to blame the community and each other for this player killing debacle, but when i step back and look at the real picture isn't that its the scenario we've been placed in thats created the "problem" (if you can call something like this a problem). Rather than seeing this as a problem its more like a result or a reaction. A reaction to being given complete moral freedom in an environment that without the threat of other players is basically a playground with lifless moving obsticles, abundant with food and weaponary for all. Finding food and provisions should be punishing! surviving should be exactly that.. surviving! surviving against the elements and the environment and you know what else.. players. You can talk about realism but what i think is a real fact is that world around you would be an equal if not bigger threat. We've become drunk with power. Lets change the balance, lets be the weak and let the dark world of day z swollow us up. -
Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
robinhood (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
my thoughts are that teh survival aspect of the game (PK interactions aside) is just far, far too easy. Too much ammo and infinite sprint is just killing the intensity of zombies and people wonder why everyone is killing eachother. What else are people expected to do when theres shit tons of ammo and nothing of importance to use it other than other players. I dont blame teh community for creating this PK busness, its the game scenario thats created it. You gave us gamers the tools and means to kill, yet you've given us nothing worth killing but eachother.. -

i think that as you acculmiate more murders your facial expression gradually gets more and more grimaced and nasty, until eventually you look like jean claude van dam taking a shit. Then atleast you wouldnt suspect until you got close enough to look under the cap... then oh snap! *Bandit shoots you in the stomach" on a serious note though, why not just take out the murder counter... most people just want to get a hard-on over their 'score' -
just my thoughts on how day z can evolve into something with more direction. I dont have a problem with bandits i just think at the moment its too easy to be one and theres really no other viable options, if you're a bandit you can have it all, gear kills etc (which is nice i'll admit). but it makes for an uninteresting game to have pretty much one scenario, player sees player, player shoots player, player loots player, moves on to find others. People seem to be complaining that theres a lack of empathy and co-operativeness and are asking for the developers to basically force it on the player base using pvp restricitons, Which to me is unrealistic and against rockets vision of the game. There are two ways in which, i believe, the game can retain its tense bandit wild west style, whilst fostering a co-operative survival aspect and here they are. 1. Increase the number of zombies and introduce zombie hordes - i think this would be a step in the right direction, introducting hordes of relentless zombies which are next to impossbile to escape without help or a vehicle. imagine walking through cherno and seeing a player run around the corner with 50+ zombies on his/her tail. What choice do you have, kill him and pull his 50+ zombie horde persuers (and inevitably die yourself) or take the chance, team up and spend the next hour fighting for your life with a complete stranger. Then if it makes you feel better after the hard work you can always shoot him the back afterwards. but it makes for a somewaht fun scenario where the dominant theme is survival in a sense that you atleast have to analyse the situation rather than shoot on sight and waste possible assistance and precious ammo. which leads me to my second point. 2. Decreased Ammunition - This is one thing i feel strongly about and could tip the balance of bandits against would be saviors. The amount of amunition available could be dramatically reduced to the point where you see a player and say to yourself "right, is it worth killing him and wasting one of my 12 shots on the chance he might have ammunition for my particular weapon?" not to mention the fact you might attract a difficault zombie horde and have to waste every shot you have on a bad decision. Maybe if the only ammunition available was within an area of zombie horde madness you might consider teaming up, tipping the odds in your favour and increasing your sucess rate in getting not only ammunition but food supplies and added security through a concertaed team effort (which pretty much represents the only way to take on a zombie horde - help!) i guess what it comes down to really is that i think the game should be even harder, in every sense. More zombies! less firepower! Being a bandit should be risky busness but with extreme high rewards it should be a gamble every time, being a helper should be something which happens almost as a split second decision when you and another are placed in a situation where without co-operation you're both certain to die, but, when done correctly the rewards are just as high. I think we'll see way more interesting situations arise from this. Car chases, horde zombie ploughing madness. Make the game less forgiving and eventually strangers will start to pull together. These are just suggestions btw, feel free to hate and flame.

less ammo.. more zombies
robinhood (DayZ) replied to robinhood (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Maybe its naive of me to think reducing ammo will have a direct affect on bandit but i think it will influence player interactions more. I just honestly think that if the zombie threat is increased markedly (reducing firepower etc) and the provisions needed for all out banditry are in those dangerous zombie threat zones, we might see the spectrum of 'survivor behavior' expand a little from what we're seeing at the moment.
