I've seen a lot of threads about this lately and either users don't search or the search doesn't show the threads. Use common sense here and don't willy-nilly download stuff. Download Dayz / six launcher / Dayz commander from the official sites. Mods should be downloaded from respectable community sites like Armaholic or from the BIS forums. Make sure you prurchase the game (not the mod, which is free) from respectable sites. People who sell cheap keys on forums are selling stolen keys. You are responsible for your own CD-key and if you downloaded something that gave your key to someone else, you're not entitled to a new one. Just to kill the "I think someone used a key-generator and got my key"-argument: For each letter in the CD key, you can have A-Z and 0-9, meaning 36 possible combinations. Arma has a 24 digit CD key. The math is 36^24=22452257707354600000000000000000000000 combinations or 22 undecillion if you prefer, meaning the odds of a keygen making your key is 1:22 undecillion*. As for GUID, that's a 4-way process that involves BIS' auth-server for CD-keys, your client, the server, and BattlEye. It's calculated as one-way hash several times so it takes an enormous effort to spoof the GUID. Considering the skills involved, I'm sure the few people capable of this will spend their effort more profitable than circumventing a $30-key. *-Actually less since the keygen doesn't just throw out random combos but according to an unknown (to me) formula. Hope that helped you out. Other solutions are welcome and I'll try to update this post with other solutions.

I was a bit torn on whether to post this or not. On one side, I'm helping out people who are trying to cheat but on the other side, I'm strongly discouraging it. I took a cop out and decided to let the moderators decide. So I've been following the "hacker scene" for some time, the open one that is. There's no public BattlEye bypass available out there. BE bypasses exists of course, but with very limited distribution since BE detects the public ones within days. BE scans memory and does random pattern searches which is throwing most bypassers to ground. That means that every single one of those youtube "free" hacks and most public forums that doesn't state you need a working BE bypasser is a key-stealer. I've also analyzed these hacks, using Anubis and although it won't show you their true nature since there's no Arma or key installed on Anubis' system (and I don't want the hassle of removing it from my own PC), more and more of these hacks are leaving stuff behind. That means that even though you delete the file, it has already left its "child" behind which will continue to read your CD-key entry. That means that once you've ran it, it will leave something behind. If you register a new key, it will be sent to the hacker as well. An important note here is that none of the anti-virus programs I have tested with report the file(s) as dangerous or harmful. That's because the file doesn't spread itself which all viruses do, but bear in mind that I haven't tested with its offspring on my PC and then scan with AV so it might pick up something then but I highly doubt it since it isn't set to copy itself elsewhere. tl;dr: All public hacks are cd-key stealers. Key-stealers now leave files behind to continuously report back new cd-keys if you buy new ones. Anti-Virus won't detect it.

Your post didn't make a lot of sense, but anti-virus programs will NOT flag it as the stealer is not set to copy itself/spread which is (part of) what anti-virus programs check for. And yes, my analysis shows that it leaves a process running (that restarts when rebooted) that probably steals your key. Please note that this is just a conclusion I reached with out confirming it as I didn't want the hassle of removing the processes it leaves behind.

Bad CD-key means that it isn't (or ever was) a valid key. You probably entered the cd-key wrong. Try re-installing the game and make sure you enter the cd-key correct.

The tweet from News says 1.7.5.5 so I guess that's another typo that hsould have been fixed? ;)

Hmmm, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do. What's the error message you get in DayZ since you're trying this? You can write the error message in swedish if you'd like (I'm Norwegian).

First off, your friend didn't do this. The hack doesn't let him steal it, it sends the key to the guy who created the "hack". Your friend would more likely go into regedit and steal the key himself so he could continue to play. So here's my theory. Your friend hacked or you read how you could spawn whatever and teleport and shit. So you got tempted and got duped. So now you're bitter that you lost your key and complain here. I hope you see the irony of you trying to hack and got hacked instead. Cause if you do - it's hilarious.

Note that anti-virus programs, anti-malware programs, etc doesn't detect the key-stealer since it doesn't reproduce itself. All it does is read an entry in the registry which all programs do, then transmits a few packets to its owner. There's nothing abnormal with that that will trigger these programs to flag it. The first thing you should do though, is to verify that you have the correct cd-key installed. If you bought from cog.com they come with a default cd-key that has to be changed (although I'm pretty sure that key is globally banned).

Since it's private hive, they can do whatever they want to. My guess is that you either picked up some illegal weapons or hacked.

I have the opposite problem. I'm a hero, well into 40k and as I joined a server I was invisible in 3rd person. When in 1st person looking at my body, it seemed as my ghillie was changed to military clothes or something. Disconnected and joined another server, now my ghillie was gone and I was in my hero clothes which I hate since I'm pretty much like a huge, walking shoot-me-sign in those white clothes.

Yeah I guess they could make some servers with e.g. 4km VD and some with default 1600m. When it comes to the mod, the community has the option to change this though, so why haven't they?

Nope. BE is the one that will ban you and it isn't enabled during SP. Be careful though, if you have certain cheats running in the background and forget to terminate them and go online (MP), you'll be banned. Edit: Your friend had his key stolen and the virus either replaced the cd-key with a banned one or a scripter got his key banned. That will not affect SP, editor, armory, etc. Your friend must reinstall the game.
