Theres nothing to do in DayZ

I am interested to hear what you did to increase your FPS in cities! If you would be so kind as to enlighten me OP, I would be greatly appreciative. I get decent frames in cities and the game in general, but not enough to where I can accurately shoot if need be. This has been ok for my style of play (generally avoid confrontation if I can help it, I don't need to rain on anyone else's parade and the reverse) but if there is some magical tactic you used, i'd like to get in on it. Would make the game all the more fun. ~Azgaurd

I'll be the first one to say, you probably aren't getting anything because your post is essentially worthless at the moment. You are asking for a gun that does not exist, as there is no MK 40. I ASSUME you mean the MK 48 Mod 0, but who knows. Fix your post if you want to trade. ~Azgaurd

    Where is Pobeda Dam?

Look at the very top middle-eastish part of the map. Welcome to tent city!

    Friendly fire?

It is often a result of people relogging (or logging into period) high danger zones. It happens quite alot at the north-western airfield, as well as Cherno and Elektro (often on rooftops). Most of the time it is simply a poor choice to log out. Occasionally it is just bad luck and being at the wrong place at the wrong time. I personally like the system, because it allows you some leeway if you weren't given any chance to fight back. However, as I mentioned, it technically duplicates gear, and can be easily exploited. Also it is good if you want to get to the coast from up north and have no good form of transportation. All it takes is a friend, prefferably a laggier server (helps ensure success), and one bullet. ~Azgaurd

    Friendly fire?

Let me break it down for you. When you are logging into a game, for the majority of your load time, you are not physically in game. However, once you see the indicators on the right side of your screen (this has a bit of grey area, sometimes a little before, sometimes a little after) your character will materialize INTO the game. You will have no control until your loading process is finished, but you are 100% in game. IF you are KILLED during this time period, where you have no control over your character and are both considered in game, and not at the same time, it will count as "friendly fire." This will almost always send the player to a spawn spot on the coast with all of their gear, as well as leave a body behind to loot. I personally witnessed a rare occasion where I was killed while loading in, relogged, and was not sent to the coast, but stood up right where I had "died". This was very peculiar, as my body was there and fully lootable. But basically, that's what it is. Hope that helps! ~Azgaurd
  8. I don't really see it as pay to win. Here is what pay to win is: You pay money, life gets easier by a flat amount. The only tradeoff is the money. With another account, this is not so. Because WITH that second account, think of what all comes into play. He has to actively manage 2 blood levels, 2 inventories, 2 locations, 2 whole games essentially. Another account adds alot more technical control to be used effectively. It isn't some bot that will be a dead-aim sniper and always have blood bags/bandages/epi-pens ready and waiting. HE still has to do everything himself. All it does is give him more options in regaurds to the game, but does it just make the game easier? I say no. I see what you are saying, that someone with only one account can't do what he does, but their life is also much easier, choices are simpler. Having two accounts doesn't just make the game flat out easier, so that's why I say it isn't exactly cheating. As I said before though, it WOULD detract (in my opinion) from what DayZ should be. But is it cheating? Not really. Just more possibilities to a game. ~Azgaurd
  9. It's interesting how many bad assumptions you have made, almost to the point of humor. Almost. The first half of your response is irrelavent, as all I did was explain what most people think when they hear a helicopter. Basically I was trying to explain why people would run away from you, as you seem to have a weak grasp on the concept. Also, how does hearing gunshots and seeing zombies make anyone run into them? "Dude look! Zombies are getting shot! Lets run into them!" I don't know about you, but neither me nor any of my friends are anywhere close to that idiotic. So that has your bad assumtion out of the way. So I don't really see how you've made me look like an idiot. But hey, whatever lets you sleep at night right? But since I like shameless plugs, and maybe some people will go over this, My 2 group members both make Youtube videos. Anyone check them out if you feel ever so inclined! http://www.youtube.com/user/westerntuna?feature=CAgQwRs%3D - Oreb http://www.youtube.com/user/GrathalVids?feature=CAQQwRs%3D - Grathal
  10. I don't see any reason to see it as cheating. You are giving yourself an advantage, and although i'm sure there are some people out there who might say otherwise, what's wrong with that? If you can enhance your own gaming experience, I say go for it. But also keep in mind that in regaurds to grabbing your stuff between characters, you are going to be more attached to your things, and constantly worrying about dying to that extent detracts from the fun of the game! Just something to think about. ~Azgaurd
  11. Also, stop and think for a moment, say you didn't have a helicopter. Say one flies overhead, you essentially have 2 options, regaurdless of gear (fresh spawn, Lee Enfield status, AKM, AS50). You either shoot it down, or you run away from it. I don't know about you, but i've NEVER had a helicopter fly overhead and I think to myself "Hey! I wonder if they'll give me a ride!" The reality is most of the time I try to find some cover, or if I have a decent weapon and not much to lose, I try my luck at taking it's rotor down. What is really funny about that is half the time helicopter's are flying, they don't even have a gunner. If they do, they might not see you. If they do, they might not have intentions to shoot at you. If they do, they might not have any ammo. If they do, they might be bad shots. Realistically, most ground-folk are fairly safe from helicopters, because in reality, only a small portion of groups that have a helicopter meet the criteria to be douchebags and shoot at you. Lets be honest, if you have a helicopter, you probably don't need 90% of other people's gear. The only thing you are doing is either ignoring them or harassing them. If you were genuinely a nice person/group, you wouldn't kill fresh spawns simply because they won't join in on your "I want to be nice and help people!" sharade to feel better about yourself. You have a heli. Grats. People don't need your transport services, or they wouldn't run away. It is like getting lucky and finding a fully geared body when you are new. There is no fun in going from zero to hero in 5 seconds. The fun is getting the supplies yourself. Earning them, not being handed them and carted around by guy's who think they are cool in a heli. You are just a pathetic excuse for a nice person. If you were honestly trying to HELP people, KILLING them would never come into play. Unless they are shooting at you. End of story.

    Radio ?

The wiki is not 100% accurate, so saying that just because it is in the Wiki means it is a fact, is false. Keep in mind that even highly moderated things such as wiki's can still have false information. So until I see otherwise from Rocket himself, or something more reliable than a wiki, if I ever get my hands on a radio, I'd keep it as a trophy. Same as Mountain Dew is.

    Trade: high level gear.

Not to mention saying "I also have access to coyote backpacks, but those would take a decent amount of time to trade." has duper written all over it. I personally have extensively tested and figured out the in's and out's of duping, so this sounds very non-legit to someone who knows what he is talking about. Just saying, you aren't hiding anything with your duper powers.
  14. It is not Auto-Hover. Auto-Hover makes it almost impossible to to move in any one direction without the helicopter correcting itself. The OP and others NOT blaming are talking about a slow gradual rise in the nose of the helicopter to the point where if left to its own devices will eventually bring the helicopter to a stop. It is very annoying and if you are traveling a large distance, it can be quite bothersome. Generally to keep the heli at the same angle I want, I have to tap the down nose key once every second or two.

1.7.3 PATCH DEBUG MONITOR TAKEN OUT-SOLUTION

@OP: Diaries, Yes. Notes: Yes. Stats: No. Blood: No. First off, i'll state my opinion: I am sad to see the debug monitor go away. It is going to be a whole new challenge to learn to play without it, and I personally like my zombie kill count. That aside, it is a GREAT thing that they are taking away the debug monitor. You want stats? Go play CoD. This game is NOT intended to be about how many bandit kills you have, how many murders you have, or how many zombies you've killed. You want to know those? Remember them (or press I for zombies because I still believe that will work.) This game is about SURVIVAL, and the only thing that has to do with the debug monitor is blood, which i'll get to in a minute. Removing the debug monitor will help people to stop looking at a noob as a "1" next to their murders, and start seeing them more like another player and human being. As long as the debug monitor is present, people will still view others as not only threats or companions (as it should be), but as stats themselves. What could be a devastating long survival death to you could just be a tick up on the murder meter for a bandit on sniper hill. Now am I saying killing people for sport will go away? No. People are dicks and they will always be dicks, that can't be helped. But it will help the amount of times it happens go down. On to the topic of people whining about the blood going away: Let me ask you something. How do you know if you are really hungry? "Food is blinking." How do you know if you are really thirsty? "Drink is blinking." How do you know if you are really cold? "Temperature is blinking." How do you know if you are bleeding? "White cross is blinking." How do you know if you are really hurt? "It says 2000 blood :D" See the funny thing here guys? Right off the bat, seeing our blood (exactly) makes no sense according to all the other things we have to worry about in DayZ. Most of us here have played a fairly decent amount of time, and we know how food and drink meters work. But how many of you have honestly looked at the blood meter? Other than to check for bleeding, probably not a whole lot. I'll be honest and say I rarely if EVER look at the little drop of blood other than to see if I am hungry for a bandage. But do you REALLY need to know your exact blood level? No. And if you think about it, it makes sense. You can't tell me "oh, im 40 out of 100 thirsty right now, i'll be good until I hit 10 out of 100." The same goes for blood. You can't know "oh, I have exactly 2473.2 units of blood left. I should probably be more careful." This game is SUPPOSED to be about realism, and that is WHY there are no rules enforced on it as it is. It is a world in which its members create. Just as it would be if this disaster actually occured. Rocket talked in his showcase of dogs (woohoo! They look useless!) How he wants to remove ALL icons except for the sight and sound ones. He said EVERYTHING else could probably be done away with. That would mean only relying on cues from your character like grumbling stomach and things like that. There is a good chance that DayZ will one day become just that. You shouldn't see this as something to whine about. You should see this as a new challenge. A way to further prove yourself and shine a new light on the gem that is DayZ. Trust me, I am a huge hater of change, but removing stats, the debug monitor, and exact blood, will be a huge step foreward for us all.

    Old bandit skin

Not to take a potshot at you or anything, but I'm going to assume you are that way because it is how you were trained to be once you started out. The sad fact of the matter is, that is pretty much how everyone started out. EVERYONE got killed with no weapon one time or another. EVERYONE got killed by a hacker one time or another. (Using absolutes to make a point, please don't go technical on my ass xD). And in a way, I don't blame you one bit, for the longest time when I first started playing, I avoided shooting at people even if they shot at me. The only person I had ever killed was in a barn because the guy was oblivious to me on the third floor, and I planned to let him walk up and see me since he had no weapon, but low and behold he finds a winchester right under me, and I assumed just the startling reaction of seeing me there with a CZ550 pointed at him would cause him to fire. I yelled in direct chat, I typed in all caps, and to no avail. But at that point, I considered his death no longer in my hands. My point is that it sounds as if you have been raised to be bitter and to shoot first because you don't want it to happen to you. But that isn't how DayZ was meant to be played. I personally think everyone needs a group to play with. I'm not the only one who sees it, people are posting on the forums all the time desperate for a group of friends to survive together with. I met my group simply because I was nice to a guy with no gun when I had one, and he introduced me to the best group of guys I've ever met. Sure, later I found out they were telling him to get a weapon and kill me, but he didn't, and I didn't kill him either. And that one little act of kindness has led to some of the absolute best times i've ever had in this game by far. Sure, you will see those guys who you try to help and they still kill you. That is part of this game. You have to sift through the shit players to get to the good ones you won't want to play without. There was a time I saw a guy being chased by a pack of zombies, so I tried to pick them off. I did what I could, then decided to run up to him. I got within range and yelled "Hey! Do you need some help?" His response was a swift double barrel to my face. Yeah that sucked, yeah it made me angry. Yeah it made me want to slaughter the next person I saw regaurdless of anything else. But if you take that one moment to show a little kindness and gratitude towards someone else, I gaurantee it will pay off eventually. It probably won't be right away, but it will be so worth it when it does. ....Idk how I got to that from bandit skins o.o, it's too late xD

    Old bandit skin

Despite your thoughts and opinions, You shouldn't be rewarded for being a prick. YES, this game has PVP for a reason. YES, you don't HAVE to PVP at all if you don't want to. But the base line is the main issue is the delicate balance between this and turning into some worthless FPS like COD or Battlefield needed to be protected. This game is supposed to be about survival, and when the bandit skin was cool (and it was preeetty damn cool :D) It encouraged negative behavior. There was no reward for being nice to randoms, and little reward for playing with friends (blood bags, that's it.) They didn't want people like YOU (who SAY you don't want to kill people and it's only self defense, but then the new humanity system comes back and you have -100,000 humanity) they didn't want people like you to have incentive to camp the shores and prey on innocent noobs that are trying to survive. Because then that's all this game would be, a group of bandits all posted up staring at a spawn point with an AS50 so there is no threat, no competition, and it made you feel good too. To recap, there was too much incentive to be a douchebag for no reason (despite your poor "self-defense claims). So they took away the camo, the commanding pressence, and the ego that came along with bandit skins, and replaced it with a sign that says "I've been a bad boy, please make me pay for it." Though I DO wish there were more cool skins like the hero and old bandit in the game, I think this change is a good one. It gives credit where credit is due, and allows you to know the Friendlies from the "HEY R U FRIENDLY? IM FRIENDLY *axes them in the face*" *Side-note* They should add back in the old bandit skin, but make it like Camo and Ghillies.
  19. No offense intended, but here is what I find wrong with your post: You talk as if every time you die, you should be playing a new game. The sad fact of life is you aren't, and the game wasn't intended for it to be so. That wonder you had when you first spawned on the shore, were scared for your life, and had no idea where you were or what to do next? That is how you should START playing DayZ. But no game of this genre could accomplish that, because it isn't how the game was made. Your name doesn't change when you die does it? Do your facial features change? Does the way you move and interact with the game change? No. It may be a "new life" but simply because every THING you ever had and ever were is gone now. But you cannot simply magically forget everything that ever happened and all that you had learned from your past lives. That is simply not possible until 100+ maps and entire cache's of different weapon sets for each map are made. I'm going to be the big meanie to tell you that will never come to pass. Never. You are describing the type of game that YOU want. But you are not describing the type of game that DayZ IS. Yes, the game is about surviving the zombie apocalypse and the others trying to survive as well. But a better experienced person survives longer and better than someone who hasn't a clue what they are doing. Now for your shpeal on tents: You say that being able to run to your old tent and gain your previous items makes you immortal? By that logic, there should be set maps that spawn one set of loot. Period. Once everything is looted and it belongs to someone, that's it. NOTHING else should spawn until everyone on that server has died and started over. Oh wait, that's not possible, because that wouldn't be the game that DayZ is. What about zombies? They are immortal, are they not? Shouldn't they, once killed and purged from a town, never return, until the entire island of Chernarus is free of the deadly virus? Yes, but that wouldn't make a game now would it. At least, not the game that DayZ is. The only thing I really agree with you on is the availability of things like food/water/tools/guns. If they want this game to feel like you are surviving, they would really have to throttle back the spawns of things. For instance, instead of going into the Supermarket and finding a plethora of tools, food, maybe a gun and ammo, and backpacks, you find a can of food, maybe some soda, and possibly a spare Makarov mag. Just a few things here and there. Not this 20 food and 40 drink in the store. But that is something that will most likely be changed anyway. The last thing is what you said about Mr. Invincible Ghillie man. You said that if you kill him, all he has to do is go back to his tent and get new stuff? And if you essentially destroy his tent, he just switches servers to another camp he has made? I fail to see any sort of problem here. He didn't just shoot gear out his ass and paste it over 12 different servers because it tickled his fancy. He had to work hard to (duping, glitches aside) to set up all those camps IN CASE some unfortunate tragedy should befell him. How is that any less fair than if you fortified a house in a zombie apocalypse? No matter where you go from then on out, you have a back-up place to retreat when things are grim. I would agree with you if no one could touch your stuff, if what is yours is yours and that is it. That is where I would draw the line. But at any moment, some random noob, a looting thief, or vehicle hunter could stumble upon this man's tent, and everything he has worked for to set up and prepare himself for this apocalypse is GONE. I say again, I fail to see the lack of fairness in that. If you kill him, he loses everything he had (as long as you are not dumb enough to leave the body). If he loses his tents, he loses everything that was in them (In case you didn't know, 5-6 hatchet swings destroy any tent, so crying about moving stuff is a joke.) The bottom line is he is just as succeptable to tragedy as ANYONE else in the game, he is just doing more to prepare for it than the guy shooting Lee Enfield's in Cherno's supermarket on a 47 pop server. He worked for his right to keep his gear, and he is entitled to keep it. You didn't find his tents and he got re-armed? You didn't hide his body and he got his stuff back? Whose fault is that other than your own? You get what you earn in this game, and if someone spends 32 hours hunting for a good spot for a base, then another 20 hours hunting for barbed wire, sandbags, and tank traps to fortify it and do everything he can to protect his stuff, why shouldn't he be allowed to? Anyone with a vehicle can drive along and run over everything he has worked for, and he is left with what he chose to hide elsewhere, and what is on his back. This is probably about as realistic as this game is going to get. This man is a juggernaut because he earned his right to be one. If a noob comes around to his base with a toolbox and a hatchet, everything could be gone on his next visit there. And no matter how powerful or geared someone might be, a Makarov bullet, a crossbow bolt, or a crowbar to the face will end everything you didn't work to protect. Welcome to life. Welcome to DayZ. /rant_off
  20. I really enjoyed your story! I'm envious of your incredible luck with people in this game :) Most fresh people's stories involve dying 82 times to bandits until learning the ropes. Beans to you and hopefully more stories follow!

    Day-Z Has Gone To Shi*

I personally don't understand this. When I first started playing, i'd have to agree. The hackers seemed to be everywhere, and although I was able to survive alot of thunderdomes and other shenanigans by quickly aborting, they would get me from time to time. However, in the last several weeks, I have yet to see a hacker. My advice is know when to play and where to play. Though it's true that low population servers won't always protect you (I got thunderdomed with 3 other people on the server) generally you WILL stay out of most of the trouble. Stay positive, and know that if you get killed by a hacker, you can easily go pick up all your stuff (usually). It is a bit of a run depending on how far you are, but if you don't put the effort to go get it, you don't deserve it.
  22. Well there is no point in 10 people running up there, is someone actively on the move, or do you still need someone?
  23. Could just be the particular server you are on, that happens to me on some servers.
  24. I can help if you would like.
  25. This was just a wierd experience for those of you who like reading about people's fun times in DayZ! So me and my group of two other guys are just roaming around the continent, not sure what to do with ourselves. We decided to make a run to Stary Sobor and see if we could find any new weapons. We play on servers we just randomly picked to start with, but have grown to enjoy over the hours spent in them. The particular server we were on was currently night-time (not a problem since we all had NVG's) and as such only had us currently in the game. As we approach Stary, DayZ's beautiful graphical glitch formally known as artifacting appears! Woohoo! No big deal right? We just run to the big red metal building to do a full relog. That always fixes the artifacting. Me and Buddy 2 have it bad, so we are the ones relogging, but Buddy 1 doesn't have it at all, so he starts checking the tents. "Careful" Buddy 1 says as we are logging back in. "There are two other guys getting on the server." "Oh nooooo!" we reply in a sarcastic manner as we all start laughing. We are fully capable as a group to be able to confront anyone with our current gear, and the chances of running into TWO other people on the server in this particular spot are pretty slim. I zone in, and with my handy dandy NVG's I see Buddy 2 prone in the middle of the building. "Rofl Buddy 2, why are you prone right now?" I ask jokingly. "What do you mean?" He replies, "I'm not even loaded in yet." Just at that moment, A standing player appears a short distance away from who I thought was Buddy 2. I recognize this to indeed be Buddy 2 himself. "Oh f**k you Buddy 1! Trying to dick with us like that!" (Buddy 1 has a habit of doing things like this to scare us) "Huh? I'm looting the tents right now Azgaurd. What are you talking about?" Confirms Buddy 1. My heart skips a beat. "No way....there's no way that this is one of the other TWO people on the server. It just isn't possible!" I tell myself. We all have heard stories of people who log into the game, and they spawn next to some kind of body or clone of theirself, and if you shoot it, YOU will actually die. I relay this info to Buddy 1 and 2, and we are all wary to try anything, because this body or player looks like us. It has all the same weapons as Buddy 1 (AKM and PDW) The only difference was it had an Alice Pack and Buddy 1, as well as me and Buddy 2 had Coyote Backpacks. All of a sudden, the body starts spinning around on the ground! We start moving around it, trying to check it, see what it is. It stops spinning. Then...it points it's gun right at us! We try to move to get away from it's aim just in case it shoots! We are both stunned with fear. Too afraid to shoot. We try to communicate with it over Direct Chat. It isn't responding. We can't figure out why it is acting so strangely. We realize now that this survivor had no Night Vision, and since we are so accustomed to it, we didn't realize he couldn't see us, and was only following our footsteps. Still in shock, I hear Buddy 2 shout "There's another one up on the catwalk!" I spin around and sure enough I see another man sitting on the catwalk above us. "Simply not possible!" I keep thinking to myself! We are both stunned, all the while Buddy 1 is shouting "SHOOT THEM!!" After a few more seconds of delay, a bright light flashes down upon us. We scurry to a corner of the barn out of the light, realizing the man on the catwalk had pulled out his flashlight and illuminated us! His buddy down on the main floor must have told him he was hearing noises, and to see what they were. We kept talking over Direct, as we usually don't kill players for no reason. Plus we were still wary in case they were one of DayZ's many glitches and might actually harm ourselves by hurting them in the process. The light clicks off, the guy on the floor spins a few times, halts for a moment, and then sinks through the ground. "He aborted!" we both conclude at the same time. Instantly, all restraints are cast off, and even without a verbal confirmation of what to do next, me and Buddy 2 both mumble "Shooting." We have both trained our guns on the remaining man on the catwalk. My buddy lets loose his AKS-74 Kobra and I my M249 Machine Gun. Bullets. A thud. "One murder." Buddy 2 confirms. We go check his body, and notice his pistol lying on the catwalk. He must have had to drop it when his friend requested that he pull out his flashlight. His friend was able to get out quickly, but he hadn't enough time to mess with Arma II's quirky inventory enough to put his flashlight away and get his gun back. It was a shame, they probably meant no harm, and were just hopping between low population servers to try and get some better guns at Stary Sobor. We try to avoid murdering the innocent as much as possible, but as most of you know in DayZ, it is hard to judge people's intentions based on appearances alone. Hopefully this will be a lesson for them to make sure their Direct Communication is working. Nonetheless, you two will never be forgotten! Let me know if you liked my little story! And if you are really bored and you would like to check out more of our goofy misadventures, feel free to check out the videos that my group members make! http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc5svHUtpjbIg6GfNTXErww?feature=CAMQwRs%3D - Buddy 1 http://www.youtube.com/user/westerntuna?feature=CAcQwRs%3D - Buddy 2 I hope you were entertained! ^_^
