I’ve(we) found a home for tents and vehicles - "just don’t put all your beans in one basket". Often use the same routes to get back to the area we patrol, so yes we have a home.

Thanks for the negative Rep Lamer, you clearly know the substucture of the forum. I don't quite understand the comment you posted to my rep though?
-
That was actually my thought when I saw your humanity in the screenshot, I just wanted to deliver it to you in a more discrete manner. If you can’t get anyone to help on the server you currently on, ‘General Discussion’ is probably not the next place you should try.
-
What server are you on? oh wait, I’m not going to spend my time saving such an evil bandit... Have you tried the ‘Bug Reports’ section?

[WAR] Pandemic Legion declares war on the imposter legion
orbital replied to Pallidum's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Quite entertaining - apart from all the accusations. There is a few things that puzzles me though; In case we are talking Pandemic Legion from EvE Online they will have a potential strong force in terms of player base - This is NOT Internet spaceships however. How on earth would you chase down another clan and pose a real threat? I haven't tried a PL server (if there is any) but without player names, how will PL hunt and kill their enemy? or is it basically just killing any player you meet? Or maybe... PL servers are set to ‘rainbow pony mode’ where nametags are visible? A team’s only real weak link is their camp, you can mess that up or steal everything if you want. That’s not an act of war, thats game mechanics. Beefing up is one way to promote your team but you have to consider whether it’s the best tactic¿ Remember that ONE skilled player can make a difference in DayZ. In EvE a one man army has to use diplomacy and dirty tactics to mess things up for a large Corporation - all it takes in DayZ, is a scope. Anyway... Sort out your facts and accusations, then keep the roleplay drama comming - thats awesome reads  -
Radius of Direct Communication
orbital replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
De_little_Bubi is probably correct, 20 meters sounds right, thought I would have thought it was much further. If you wan't to test it (I probably will tomorrow): Jump on a server with ‘personal waypoint’ enabled on the map (Think some of the Virginia servers have it) or create a simple multiplayer session with a friend. Put waypoint on friends position, move to the edge of audible range when he speaks, read range to waypoint. The whole Direct Chat issue is being addressed as far as I know. For now it seems that the latest Beta patch for ARMA (not a patch for DayZ, but fully compatible) does make Direct Chat work. Check it out at: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Installing on retail/hardbox is straightforward, just run the beta shortcut in ARMA directory after installing. For Steam users; http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?101615-How-to-run-Steam-ArmA-2-Steam-OA-Beta-Patches Looks like there's everything you need to know about installing the Beta. -
Heh, nice one Blackfuse. Would be nice to see a graph from the developers if they have character data saved from day one.

In many cases people chat in Global channel and that is perfectly fine. That does make it troublesome when you're in a tight situation and need to shout out with Direct Voice quickly. In default ARMA settings your ‘Caps Lock’ opens microphone on the channel you're currently also typing to. Go to settings->keybinds and find the section with all 6 voice channels. Rebind your Direct Voice to ‘Caps Lock’ (or any desired key) and remove that bind from the default bind. That way you can stay in the Global channel for typing and momentarily switch to Direct whenever you press the voice key. (I’m at work and don’t recall the exact names of the different settings, I can elaborate once I’m at the game again if needed)
-
The 6 different voice channels are very useful in ARMA but with the DayZ MOD you don’t really need any other than Direct communication, at least not for now. But here is a short explanation of them all anyway: Global: Sends audio to everybody on the server. Side: Sends to everybody on your team (all players in DayZ) Vehicle: Sends to all member of active vehicle (Useful in noisy conditions) Officer: Sends to all Group Leaders on your team/side (No Group Leaders in DayZ) Group: Sends to your active group only (No Group in DayZ) Direct: Proximity audio, volume adjusted depending on range from sender All in all you should ONLY be using Direct! Global and Side is occasionally used but you will piss people off by doing so. We don’t like surprising noises when surrounded by Zed’s now do we.

I actually liked the old sounds better (pre 1.5.7)

Night time i can't see a thing my m8 can?

Or, you could tackle the problem at it's root: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Calibrate-your-display (worked for me) -
The New Zombie Count is AWESOME
orbital replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have to vent off after my first spin on 1.5.7 Installed, log in and find my self on the southern beach??? - last I logged off I was at our camp far north. Then I get knocked over while stepping over an obstacle (ARMA bug), lost some blood - enough to make the nearby zombie aggro and preforming another perfect K.O., eaten alive. Run 3 clicks back to my corpse only to get a server restart - Lost gucci gear including my 2nd pair of NVG's... Continue north to Berezino where I ace my way silently thru 2/3 of the town collecting all the essentials - only to have a single zombie spawn right in front of me. Running dry on bullets, blood and entertainment value - I decided to let DayZ rest... Now I'm really exited; what direction the next patch leads? Can the total apocalypse be evaded, whether my teams tents and fuel leaking chopper gets a more persistent respawn after server restarts, if my TS buddies can cheer me back up and last but not least, when the mailman delivers my D3 game. I'm sorry, it's been a really bad day for me - Don't know what is happening to me? Damn you Rocket, you sure know how to make a MOD that stirs up a lot of emotions :D -
Suggestion: Better/More Loot at Night
orbital replied to Genadij Beton's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Changing the loottable at night seems wrong. If there is less activity at night, wouldnt your loot chances automaticaly be better anyway? I hated the nighttime the first few weeks but now I feel much more comfortable moving around at night times compared to high noon. -
Autorun button and loot in small towns (2 suggestions)
orbital replied to MiniJunkie's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Don't think it exists in the engine and therefore probably not something you'll see. Pretty sure a 3rd party application could solve your need - But then the question arises; whether it's allowed to use? -

Even though I like creating multible characters in other games, I don't think it's suitable for DayZ. Make some meeting points with your buddies so you can log out/in close to eachother. You can die soloing as well as in your group, a great loss no matter when or where it happens. Surviving is serious buisness.

Happy Birthday! 30 years old? I demand a couple of days WITHOUT patch updates (because of your hangovers)
-
You evil evil people! Oh sh**, I just broke the only rule in here Good idea with a Bandit section Griff. Sooo tempting to join 'the dark side'.
-
The forum is just like any MMO forum, the majority of post are complaints and silly ideas. But the feedback is still very valuable, even though it's not all positive. I believe Rocket's replies towards he's intentions with the game is pretty clear.
-
"For the love of PC Gaming" :D Yes, DayZ is laying stones in the fundament of future gaming.

10 pages of fairly pointless discussions... Chernarus is where it's at people. ARMA is all about large maps. While crossing the contryside, spend some time thinking about how much work it would require to move this mod to another map.
-
I seen no problem with the current vehicle spawns to be honest (as long it doesn't inflate). More fuel consumption? No thanks, have you tried visiting the gas station with a noisy vehicle? Not something I want to do for every 2km I've driven. And then get a feel how many litres a helicopter consume... Vehicles require team effort and is a reward of just that! Working perfectly fine as it is.

I felt it was a hassle the first few times I had to hook up with people after dying. Now it's one of those things that makes this game stand out. Sure groups would be nice for group voice and such, as long it can't be exploited, meaning no direction indications. Moving 5 meters at a rainy night loosing contact with your group, that is part of the gameplay :)
