Add that fuking unzipping bag sounds finally PLEASE!!!
orbital replied to unsobill's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Probably fairly easy to implement. +1 bump -
"The body is still warm" within 15 minutes. "The body is stone cold" up to an hour. "Rigor mortis seems to be in effect" after an hour. Something like that would also be cool.

I didn't know it had thermal scope, wow. It can fall in hands of the good, the bad or the very ugly. For that reason it's an interesting addition. But yes, thermal scope seems a bit too powerful, especially if some crooked clan ends up duplicating it.

Brand new player coming to a server near you.
orbital replied to britishwalnut's topic in New Player Discussion
I don't know whether the ARMA X edition includes any hardcopy maps but I doubt you'll find it very useful - Apart from hanging it on the wall for an occasional glance at the awesomeness of ARMA world size. Use one of the browser maps, there is a few with POI's and full loot tables included plus the option of zooming which will come in handy. Check http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11995 for all the info you need. I agree that you should work towards getting into a group as soon as possible, but start by getting the game installed, and play a day or two on your own. Take is slow and accept dying a lot, that is where you'll learn the most to be honest. Then post again with a description of your playstyle and server(s) your playing on, hopefully some group will pick you up. Perhaps you'll even meet some helpful survivor in game. In short words; Install, get scared, get frustrated, get lost, get exited, get away from the beach, get acquainted with mechanics, THEN get friends. Read the forum and the stickies, youtube 'dayzmod' and sort by rating. Welcome to DayZ, I'm sure you will find tons of entertainment here. -
That is basically the only thing that offended me in this thread. If anything' date=' call it a [u']brother clan please. FKP did work together with CPC on the operation last night. An operation based upon the fact that our scouts reported tents full of obvious duplicated items. The mission was to gather evidence, names, video and sceenshots, exactly like the fights against Crazy Peppers (Peppers post gone from forum cause of the roolback a week'ish ago). Unfortunately the camp, whoever it belonged to, was well protected and the eliminated most of our patrol. After the initial engagement the camp/tents were destroyed and resistance disappeared. THAT reaction was suspicious, especially because the resistance had the upper-hand but instead chose to destroy their own camp and vanish. - hence the restart to inspect the content of the destroyed tents. You/everyone must understand that EU9 has suffered a lot from hacks and exploits, mainly while the Crazy Peppers war was undergoing. That is why we work hard to suppress any dodgy activity on the server. We have seen, and killed, A LOT of players with high end equipment, which we reuse to aid our cause - apparently to an extend where we have been accused for the same thing we're fighting against. - I do not believe the actions and the restart last night go in the exploit category. Finally, stop pointing fingers at whole communities by posting Steam pages. That is just pointless and signals your frustration. [FKP] Orbital

Just a thought on the whole bandit uniform issue. How about removing the bandit penalty, the desert uniform, and adding a couple of uniforms as REWARDS instead? I like the current humanity system, both +/- side of it but make it a goal instead of a penalty to receive a new uniform. Create a couple of levels that signals trustworthy appearance. Example: +5000 unlocks the ‘Friendly’ uniform +8000 unlocks the ‘Legendary’ uniform Getting penalized by killing other players should obviously result in loosing your rewarded uniform. Now, I know this can be exploited in a group but it does require significant effort, to stay positive humanity.

Behind the scope? If you want to support your team, your best spot is where you have a good overview and can distinguish friend from foe. But by the sound of it, you just want to kill players, climb on top of a building in one of the major towns and shoot away.

Wow...beware of moving items to your backpack when its full. It deletes them....
orbital replied to hazychestnutz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Our groupie asked how it works when switching weapons to and from backpack - That was AFTER he moved our newly found M82 Barrett into he's full bagpack. I'm sure he'll never forget the reaction on teamspeak... -
It's not a patch bud. Check http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10353 for the pending release.

If it sends out a message that ARMA and Bohemia is not to be f'ked with, it's the best thing that ever happened. I fully support the drastic measures, hackers, script kiddies and what not, piss up and down developers hard work, while ruining everybody's gameplay. DayZ has proven to be quite a honneypot for filthy fingers - it just continues proving it's awesomeness :D

Somebody is seeing vehicles on the map on 'our' server, that's for sure. Loosing them as soon we leave them basically :@

I stand by my remark; "Specific classes has no place in dayZ". Chef, farmer, mechanic, shaman or sorcerer? up yours! If you want classes, make hunting knife, toolbox and whatever you can think of, 'ultra-NVG droprate rare'. That way you'll be forced to communicate with the 'classes' that have the tools to get the job done. It's FINE as it is, for god sake, I don't want to read walls of complaints about unbalancing!

Like rain lowers temperature, it should be possible to script so it lowers the need for water too. But to be honest it seems to work just fine as it is right now. Until then, enjoy the nasty water from the lakes (I love the water canteen function) or just sit back and enjoy a: image borrowed from http://robotcosmonaut.tumblr.com/

There are defiantly some bottleneck filling up over the weekend. We gave up last night and dropped dayZ all together. Seeing some 'feedback burps' with players trying to connect and getting kicked off again by Battle Eye, might have something to do with Battle Eye and not 1.7.

Removing High Powered Weapons and Silenced Weapons
orbital replied to B0SSMANN (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Obviously a foreign advanced military force was put in the area, trying to contain the infestation - and failed miserably - zombies doesn't eat weapons. Aside from the roleplay; Techy hardware is a appealing factor to most players and probably shouldn't be removed. -
There are some positive rumours about porting dayZ into ARMA 3, I think that's as far as it will go towards a new map. Just think of the work put in to create every loot point and triggers in Chernarus. Hopefully we'll see some form challenges in the future but expecting helicopter missions might be a little 'off ground'. Kudos to those pilots who take their helicopters on a spin for the whole servers benefit.

You've put so much work into posting this thread, I'm sorry to give you a short answer: NO Specific classes has no place in dayZ, don't compare it to other games. Look at it in a new way and create your own class, do what you do best, whether it's shooting, helping, scouting, waiting, leading, organizing, collecting or whatever you can think of.

The handycam addition is quite neat, brings plenty of ides in my mind on how it could play out. But for your teaser, I don't get it? How about some footage with no gun equipped? And go film some sequences in the editor to remove the debug and chat. Just some ideas. Keep up the good work, well made videos wins.

Encouraging Direct Communication: Sanity Meter
orbital replied to kaffaljidhma's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Interesting suggestion indeed. I don't think it would be welcomed by the majority of players though. What about those who likes to play alone, staying away from everything and everyone? I do occasionally spend days alone. When I'm with my group, we use Teamspeak for group talk and Mumble for alliance. Never use direct voice. Direct is a nice feature but forcing it on players like this, doesn't seem like the right solution to me. -
