    Melee Weapon Petition

I was thinking that since the zombies behave waaaay to erratically to be hit by a melee attack without getting hit back, I was wondering how automatic, disposable defensive items like in the first Resident Evil would work out. They would only work against a single zombie, so a big horde would still waste a survivor. Also, why exactly can't melee for the player be implimented into DayZ if the zombies can do it? Even melee that was just a very quick, single projectile which only went for a few feet like in TF2 would be better than nothing.
  4. Players need to be able to /dance to avoid bullets like TOR on launch.
  5. Also, even when players do find a gun, they're probably less likely to KOS for risk of losing said gun. Also, humanity found a use again, so there's that.
  6. Yes. I like not spawning with a weapon, but now I feel an option for melee is more important than ever. Being able to kick a zed off you or whack them with a flashlight would greatly increase the amount of realism in this game.
  7. I don't know how I feel about spawning with NO weapon. Can't the survivors use their fists as a last resort, or something? It's unrealistic that my guy can't try to throw a zed off of him. ...What if the flashlight could be used as a club with a chance to bust it?

I'll definitely be checking this out once it gets started. It'll be interesting to see how prices get worked out.

    Psychology of the Murderer.

Interesting how everyone says they kill for beans in this game...
  10. Turning gamma up alone doesn't really do much unless the moon is out. Turning up gamma AND HDR gets you seeing outlines of objects much, much better, but I still can't really see anything unless it's really moving. Also, being able to see nothing at night is not fun, nor realistic. I still think that flashlights should be incredibly common, or given to players on spawn considering everyone living in the present day probably has a flashlight somewhere in their house, but not necissarily a gun or flares.
  11. I like these suggestions, particularly the bandit spawning further north part, but I'm wondering if people are just getting bored with the zombie aspect of the game. I'm not, but more zombie types along with tougher zombies would make PvE much, much more interesting. Obviously, keep the zombies within the bounds of believability for a game striving for realism, but having some zombies that are immune or really resistant to bodyshots through armor, actively stalk players without making their presense known, having better sight or strafe wouldn't be more be too much of a stretch.
  12. Guys, it's obvious that claiming loot zones is going to cause you all a lot of trouble. If you establish the zone out of good graces, it will be less attractive of a target to organized raids looking to get the loot that spawns in the exclusive zones. Also, you'll be perceived as the good guys, so random people will be more likely to fight for your cause if things get rough. You're also a (hopefully big) militia. Team up with some other factions and make at this trade zone THE thing players come to Norway 1 for. You could establish a market meta game and be adored by the entire player base. I implore you, do NOT mess this up by trying to make a profit from this. Devotion and allies is way more valuable than a couple more guns and beans.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

Oh, good ol' fashion Internet drama. How I love the. Calling people pussies and overreacting to justify their own bullshit. I'm betting you have a sense of insecurity regarding this entire pvp issue, considering how blatantly defensive and hostile you're getting. You kind of missed the part where most people in the world aren't sociopaths, though. Most people don't resort to immedietly killing each other unless they have to. However, most bandits in this mod are just killing for shits and giggles, not even setting up a place actually survive in. Even after filling up on supplies, they keep killing. They also are just killing for fun because they can just respawn if they fail and die. If they were so concerned with being killed by other humans, they would be HIDING and avoiding player interaction, not ending it. I'm wondering how you behave in real life since you say fuck every other sentence, though. You must be a peach. Have fun negging me.
  14. I'd be thrilled if the assassins would record their next encounters. I haven't really seen too much organized pvp in this game.
  15. This shit and fart meter are going places. Excellent work, mentlegen.

    Too many downsides playing night?

I actually feel a lot safer at night with HDR and Hamm cranked up. It's still hard as balls to see, but: 1. I like nightime. 2. My chances of being shot by some douchebag sniper drops significantly. 3. Since I still pretty much crawl everywhere at night, I usually see outlines of other people first who are crouch walking. It makes it a lot easier to try and communicate with them and convince them that I'm friendly, since they know I have a huge advantage over them which I'm giving away. It seems to get people teaming up with me since they know I would have just shot their ass had I wanted to.
  17. I think a party and recognized ingame faction system would bring players closer together, or at least make trustin people easier if they accepted. Although, his could cause jerks to party up with people and just kill them, but at least it's something. Also, having faction systems would probably mean that said factions would reclaim areas from the undead and basically make their own perminent bases, if they got the supplies for it. Having labeled trading areas would encourage random people to try and interact with each other, mostly through the many guards that would inevitably be placed by the factions. This can be done without an ingame faction system already, but it would require a lot of incentive, risk and organization to pull off. Also, a trading screen would be nice.

Food and water being used offline

I'm wondering if there are any arguments for this feature,,, edit: Amazing, there are. Look, if I don't want to play DayZ tomorrow, I shouldn't have my food and water wasted just because I didn't play. There's no fucking reason for this feature, and it doesn't make the game any more "hardcore", so stop kidding yourselves.
  19. Also, this. At least have tempurature stop dropping from going in a tent... Or wearing bunny slippers.
  20. The only thing that bugged me about zombie spawns was that they'd sometimes spawn again after exiting a house. I mean, I just cleared out this town, why is there another horde here five minutes later?
