Love the ACE mod in Arma. I wouldn't mind seeing some of those features introduced into DayZ.

On game design, "progression through equipment", and a system of micro-skills
dutch_miller replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Exactly. And In the current situation of the game, surviving as an individual is just as easy, and often more beneficial, than surviving with another player; let alone another player you just met. Unless you set out to do so, there is no reason to team up with a stranger. Now I'm not saying that people who like to play alone should be punished, I'm suggesting that there should be a reason to survive with a stranger, rather than just kill them. -
Remove the ability to store rifles in backpacks
dutch_miller replied to GBTP's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Exactly. One of those topics that never goes away. I give the same idea every time. Add several hunting packs that allow you to carry a rifle in them as well as the current backpacks that shouldn't be able to. Gives the game a little variety and solves the problem. -
Making start game easier w/ minimal zed nerfing
dutch_miller replied to WBK's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Makes sense. I like it. And I don't often like suggestions. -
Penicillin as well. I like the idea, as well as Berkut's idea of having them be area specific - in essence a limited resource that could be controlled by groups of people.

On game design, "progression through equipment", and a system of micro-skills
dutch_miller replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with your argument that the player's life is not valued enough in the game, but I don't think it will reduce the core issues of the game; the players. Banditry is seemingly the only option for 90% of the players, not because they all want to the game to be a FPS, but because they are afraid of dying as it is. Increasing the value of their character's life will only increase their fear of death. They will meet all encounters with other players as violent because they come to the conclusion that the name of the game is kill or be killed. I'm all for increasing the value of a character's life, but not at the cost of the leveling system, even though this is the best leveling system idea I've seen to date. What I think will fix this problem is incentives to work together with other survivors and to have a collective goal be established. The reason high level banditry (AS50 snipers for instance) are simply because the game is easy to survive on your own, so there is no incentive to work together with strangers; and boredom. There is no end-game, which I agree with, but there needs to be a long-term goal that can be server specific. For many people, their goal from day one is to get high level gear, and once they have it, there is nothing else to do - so they turn to banditry. Long term goals could be any number of things. It could be the development of a cure, repairing facilities like power plants, or even some inspiration from mods like Origins where there is a location only reachable with advanced gear. It could be one of these things, or it could be all of them combined. What it is doesn't really matter, the idea that there is a goal for every player on the server to help with should help solve the bandit problem. -
choose what type of person you spawn as.
dutch_miller replied to methr1k2dop3's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
...Really? So somehow, all of the people are commenting and playing the game that know what they're doing, just somehow were very good at this game the second they started? We all were new players learning how to play at some point, and it was tough but it was fun. You don't baby the new players in a game like this. -
That's the one. In hindsight I guess I probably could have found it if I looked.

I can't remember who suggested this as it was quite a while ago, but there was an idea for a backpack addition that I liked. Essentially, some real backpacks have a rifle sheath-like section specifically for this. Adding these kinds of backpacks would increase the variety of backpacks, because while they might not have the most space, they can carry an extra weapon. Anything that forces you to make a decision like that is a plus for DayZ in my book.

An original, coherent, intelligent idea that I like on the suggestions forum? .... Well, I'll be damned.

Oculus Rift support for stand alone DayZ
dutch_miller replied to soapmak3r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oculus Rift for DayZ = $$$ + Time. It'd be awesome, but honestly I'd rather have BI's time and resources spent on the PC game and have that be the best it can, as well as released earlier, before I consider Oculus Rift support. -
DayZ Standalone PVP realism suggestion
dutch_miller replied to MoebiuZ's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oh god. This again... Not only has this been suggested hundreds of times, it's also been rejected and shut down every time. -
Character dies, becomes NPC Zombie
dutch_miller replied to roykingtree's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like it, i think it adds more variety to zombies and their gear, as well as making the game more immersive and difficult. I really don't give too many shits about whether or not the lore adds up, but for the sake of calming down the people who do I would also support the idea that it only occurs when the player is killed directly by zombies. -
I don't like permanent punishments like inventory wipes because of the server connection problems that plague DayZ. On more than one occasion I have timed out or been kicked by battleye while in combat. If my inventory had been wiped because of that I would be fairly annoyed, to say the least.

Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone
dutch_miller replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's not about the authenticity of being able to find an armored vehicle on the map, it's about the pure dominance a single BDRM would have over every other player on the map; and if you add something to counteract it, all you do is further the disruption of balance. No matter how much you argue realism is essential to DayZ, at some point you will have to suspend belief and understand that it's a game, and it needs balance. Currently, most people's goals are to find an anti-material sniper rifle and start capping people. The survival element is completely lost on everybody except the newest players. You're suggesting we go in the opposite direction to fix the problem; to extend the end-game even farther away from the core intent of DayZ. -
Radios (no chat channels except direct)

I would like the idea if it wasn't the 1,000th time I've seen it. Use the search bar. -
Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone
dutch_miller replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No, you've misunderstood what a good suggestion is. -
Replace the AS50 and M107 with the KSVK?
dutch_miller replied to V2_Danny's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's not the fact that they are unrealistic because they can be found at chopper crashes or barracks, it's more the fact that it disrupts the balance of the game. If you wanted to go the realism route, you could argue that only an idiot would carry around an anti-material rifle in a real apocalypse scenario. -
Armor/Planes/Mortars/HMG for standalone
dutch_miller replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So let's fix the problems of overpowered .50 sniper rifles by adding a god damn armored vehicle. Fuck logic. -
Vehicle Gun placements and mountable machine guns
dutch_miller replied to JC the MC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
One of the few good ideas I've seen in this forum, and I've seen a lot. I'm all for customization within defined limits (no TOW's!). -
If you are going create a thread about an idea that has suggested dozens of times before, at least make sure it's a good idea. Implementing this would effectively punish people for not playing the game, an idea so utterly idiotic it doesn't need any more reasons to send this thread to the graveyard. A dice-roll mechanic in DayZ? What has the world come to...
-
Giving players a choice is hardly a cop-out, and it's a solution that at least doesn't completely disregard either side of the argument. Whether or not crosshairs exist does not change the core feel of the game, and in my opinion that is the (somewhat flexible) line for what should be implemented.

Leave it up to the servers. I like how it is now; people who don't like them play on servers without them. People who do play on servers with them.

Awesome {ATF} Panthera Island Server Looking for Players!

Here are our "bullshit lies" as follows: Because searching our private email address and posting it publicly is real maturity. -
Looking for a group of friendly Players...
dutch_miller replied to savingbadluckbrian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Don't play on ATF's server. They reset the server at their whim to attain gear, but more importantly their admins are abusive and the clan founder posts private player information publicly on their website, violating privacy rights. http://dayzmod.com/f...vacy-violation/
