    Treat Running More Realistically

yeah good system. but cant exist without a stamina system as well i dont think. people need to get tired and have to stop running... but (since we are getting the animation) pushing yourself too far and running too long could lead to your character puking? i dont know but there just needs to be a jog speed and the jog speed should cover a fair amount of distance (slower than running but ultimately further), so it doesnt get too tedious. and make walking faster so its a viable option maybe? OH and char. speed/stamina should factor in whats in your pack. traveling light should have some benefit shouldnt it? now to stop digressing. lol i like your idea OP so long as it is a gradual thing that becomes noticeable after days of lifetime and not just a few hours. (otherwise it will just become a routine of quickly grinding up to peak shape when you lose fitness)

    Vaulting and Climbing aspects

really though... climbing and jumping is a basic form of movement. an essential one in fact! must be to do with the effort behind making objects scalable. youd have to make them all... otherwise we'd be awkwardly yelling to our noob friends "dont try to climb that building! everyone knows that one's an unclimable you idiot!!" maybe the survivors were infected by the virus in a different way. a way that reduced the thigh muscles to nothing, leaving us all hopping slowly over fences.
  3. wow... just learning that these dots exist... HAHA man i guess by now i just have superior awareness skills because ive never once noticed "peripheral dots" in my months of playing dayz. and now i cant unknow it... so now im expecting my dayz experience to be a lot less immersive...

    DayZ Best Date For Release

"i hope they release it when its done and ready so its not buggy and unfinished like when games force release to meet schedules!" dumb argument. its foundation build either way, releasing on time and releasing a month after will still result in a buggy game thats missing features. so why bother waiting the extra month and making people expect something that you already said will not be delivered? i personally dont care when it is released, an extra month wait is trivial, but still... its not getting polished like everyone seems to think, either way we will be bug hunting for a good while. true dayz fans will welcome the bugs and glitches with open arms anyways, right!?

    Weapon Misfire and/or Jam

flintlocks failed to fire 50% of the time i believe? imagine that on a battlefield. there'd be a lot of awkward silences between enemy soldiers. lol
  6. i think the op is a good idea. the proposed method of treating information like disease, spreading via players is an interesting suggestion. and the cues (like a heartbeat) are subtle enough to not interfere with the gameplay. but when you think about it... it kind of already works like this. as in, if me and my buddy are running threw a town and he sees a guy in ghillie with an ak firing at him. whats he going to say to me? that there's a guy in ghillie with an AK over there. so information already spreads, only it does so really organically. everyone needs a microphone really, and they need to use it. i think that would be good enough. then you would actually ask another player if they've seen any unsavoury characters about, and they would of course be able to warn you or lie. oh but a feature to add to your suggestion: you say that bandits would not be able to be privy to information because no one would trust them enough to tell them... well the capture and torturing of other players would have to be included to balance that out. which would be pretty sweet actually. (no horrific animations needed of course!) maybe a sort of "wheres your tent at on this map!" oh boy bandits would love that one.

    Standalone Poll: First Person Only?

To be honest, you and everyone who thinks like you is stupid in this matter. As far as the content of your character or your overall intellect, I won't make judgements on that. First off... the difference in FOV between first person and third person is NEGLIGIBLE. It doesn't even increase the FOV it just moves the screen back more allowing you to see the SAME FOV from further back. So I have no idea why people make this ridiculous claim that it increases FOV. If you think this, it means you have not attempted adjusting your first person FOV. (Even just double tapping "-" will put it on par to 3rd) So any people making that argument can stop now because it has no foundation to even exist upon. Secondly, it doesn't simulate periphery at all... Not at all... I feel like an idiot even having to explain this... Can you see objects in your periphery perfectly clearly? Or clearly at all? No! You can just be aware of movement, (EDIT: and a blurred, vague image) you cant actually see anything going on enough to actually draw an image like 3rd person gaming does, which is PERFECTLY as if its right in front of you. and since the computer monitor is flat and right in front of you, what you are calling "periphery" is right in front of your eyes and thus is perfectly focused! so yes another moot argument on the defense of third person. I think you people are all thinking of depth of field, which involves the focusing of the eyes (your periphery is unfocused) and if DOF WAS included everyone would complain "wah it makes me sick" on that note, head bob is optional, why are people making claims that its a medical issue? turn it off... what the hell is wrong with people! lol i'm freakin out now at this incompetency! on the note of the periscope, its ridiculous obviously. first person only could just include the peek and tip toeing to see OVER things. just "slice the pie" or something like that. People have realized to do it in real life as an effective way of minimizing risk and maximizing observance. You are people too, I have faith in you. Anyways i'm obviously pro FPV only, but I don't actually care as much as this post suggests. The source of this rant is more directed at the baseless arguments people make in the name of third person. Just say "I like third person and I want to play with it enabled." that is a solid argument believe it or not, I won't dare tell you how you prefer to play the game, so you're set! just please stop insulting peoples intelligence and common sense with these absurd claims. EDIT: not picking on you specifically finkone i regret quoting you lol. TL:DR - who cares!!!

    The Moral Compass

yeah you wrote it out very well and explained it very well, naturally i think some of it is very good. but when it comes to things like screaming when being chased by zeds... we dont really need that do we? hell when i started playing and zombies chased me i think i did scream irl! lol and i ran like hell away from them too! i dont think it needs to be simulated via the game. also i know that we get used to zeds and they no longer scare us, but thats the experience that you are describing, only the experience is within the player and not the avatar. same with killing/stealing. its actually NOT easy for everyone to do, some people actually do feel conflicted doing it, within themselves, not because the game dictates it. that being said though, it is an issue when you are trying to make each new character an entirely separate character from the previous one... since we obviously dont die with our characters and we retain all that experience and knowledge... so yeah its a bit of an iffy one. SOMETHING should be done though for sure to make player lives more important than just the gear on their back. but i don't think it should necessarily be this extreme.

    Rocket quiet over holidays...

    we are forsaken!!!
  10. ^ nights are stupid dark to the point of absurdity. in real life i can feel the environment i am in. i can touch it and smell it and hear it, in a game sight is everything, sounds do not apply as they are added in and not chaotic and free like sight is. i dont even remember what the topic of this thread is lol
  11. 1. what op said 2. slower spawning loot, much slower. i dont think ive ever entered a place that had been completely picked over unless i follow someone in. plus it might force people to hit up kamenka and unlikely loot destinations in desperation. 3. liquor and cigarettes. they would be far more valuable than people credit them for!
  12. the graphics are fine i think, but i barely look since its not really that type of game. the buildings and roads just need to be more populated with ambient stuff and it will look a lot better.

Infected Players… I want to be INFECTED!!!!

    respectfully... no.
  14. Roark92

    Improved surrender animation

you're playing wrong because you suicide for convenience sake i think was what was meant. bandits rob people dont they? people who get robbed get pissed off and frustrated? i THINK that people who get robbed dont often think to themselves "fuck i should have just rushed at him and got myself shot to death cuz it will take me a whole day to make back that 100 bucks he stole from me." yep...
  15. Roark92

    Adrenaline meter.

adrenaline is pretty much a human's only defensive mechanism, biologically speaking... makes sense for it to take on a role in a game centered around surviving in a harsh and unpredictable world.
  16. Roark92

Couple of moronic logic's that should be fixed.

haha! funny stuff... im on your side about the ax, diaz.

    Boarded windows?

you seem to have a habit of joining the right servers then, i think. lol
  20. i think rocket was going for a "the road" approach to the apocalypse... so i think you will get your wish OP.
  21. Roark92

    Cries and shouts from injury/death

instead of a button to scream, there should be a button to NOT scream... Depending on the wound/damage, holding in the cries would be more difficult. hit by a zombie would be a simple tap of a button maybe? being shot maybe rapid/timed taps more difficult to achieve... and then being eaten by zombies would be a series that would be physically impossible to achieve unless youve been on a mountain in tibet for 10 years meditating. Edit: and why not have a button to call out for help? swarmed by zombies and no ammo... all you can do is hope someone can hear you!

    Hacker solution?

youre right its a lot of power to bestow upon the almighty hackers. but really why do hackers do it? probably mostly for the lulz i would think? theres nothing really funny about kicking everyone off a server, and it doesnt ruin their game only inconveniences it so the sociopaths would be less likely to indulge since their victims suffer less. i truely believe that many hackers wouldnt even bother, since they probably would find it boring. honestly ive laughed at a lot of hacks ive had inflicted on me... i imagine the hacker is busting a gut, that seems like the biggest incentive. im probably wrong though. who can tell whats going on in those twisted minds...
  23. Roark92

    Please don't implement passing stool

what POSSIBLE harm can it do to implement it and try it... thats the point of the early development phase. maybe the devs have a way of implementing it that we have not even considered that will be mature and game-changing. maybe it will be ridiculous and get patched out. either way i do not believe they will leave in a shitty mechanic that no one wants to see. yes pun was intended.
