Can i get banned for making a custom skin?
Prion replied to JaackZee's topic in New Player Discussion
this is the correct answer. server side settings may restrict your ability to have a custom face.jpg or they might also restrict the size. so you run the risk of the server not letting you connect due to having a custom skin, and you also run the risk of having the server not letting you connect because your custom skin is too large. but yeah, other than that, its legit. -
this is my favorite introduction movie.

Should there be Bosses and dungeons in new standalone?
Prion replied to Darky1307's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
i wouldn't be so sure. surely it fits the definition of an mmo, a shitload of people playing this game online, role playing their survival characters and killing eachother? esp when you add in 3rd person playability, which is how most current mmorpgs work. but no, seriously, dayz doesn't need dungeons. -
More emphasis on melee weapons over firearms
Prion replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
would be sweet to see a machete and a kukri knife in game. -
1.62.95417 What is this and how do I get on board with it?
Prion replied to mostlywaffulls's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
this guy has got it, the correct answer. sixupdater doesn't update armaII -
http://dayz.lv/lingor/ its not super comprehensive yet, but its a start!

script kiddie found i think
Prion replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
he's absolutely right. players can spoof their playerID, and that's what battleeye coorelates to your GUID. here is the kicker - if a player spoofs their playerID, and also avoids battleye - banning them won't do much because they can just spoof a new playerId next time they connect. -
[VIDEO] Never Choose the MP5 over Another Gun
Prion replied to Budrick_3's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
the silenced mp5 is great if you can aim. then again, aiming is OP. -
it went like this: * are you friendly? * ARE YOU FRIENDLY?! * IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER I ASSUME YOU ARE HOSTILE! then i unloaded a makarov in his face and upper chest, and looted his body. i'm not really a bandit, but i've had more kills like this than i'd like to admit. fix your mics!

Players can't spoof their GUID - this is directly tied to your cd key, but they can spoof their playerID. But then again that would only work on servers that aren't running Battleye - So just stick to Battleye servers and you should be good. Hackers surely can keep buying new copies of arma II to obtain new cd key & GUID, but that gets expensive.

would be nice for sure feature request!

yeah looks like a teleport script that's activated by server control. if you see anyone who is not in your admin team accessing scripts bound to your server control that's a red flag. i think there is a server side setting you can set that auto kicks anyone who clicks the server control button. that should get rid of half the nub script nabs who just spew copypasta

technically you do get 6gbps speeds, but that's just the phy layer technology. there are tons of other layers and headers that need to go across that data path, so you are also correct you'll never see 6gbps in an application layer benchmark test. i finally upgraded my raid array (striped) to dual 6gbps drives, and i got a little bump in game load times, but that's really all I noticed.
-
dunno but the latest arma II patch is no good. you want 95417
-
Why I dislike OP... dude for real though, pretty much all internet forums are filled with trolls and hate mongers to some extent. don't let them get you worked up.

stop logging off during de-sync and stop server hopping. for your inventory to be saved properly you should stick around for a bit after acquisition. this is alpha.

attempt to loot. can't loot? he's unconscious.

1 makarov shot brings down a helicopter...
Prion replied to Tersidre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
beans have been retracted. -
for sure i've been playing lingor island for a bit now. not many servers hosting, but you can enter 95% of buildings and its a jungle island setting. quite a nice change of pace from chernarus

ARMA 2 Operation Arrowhead isn't working
Prion replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
you can't launch it without dayz at all? repair your install -
yes hacked. if its not in the wiki its not supposed to be in game.

Can't disable Dayz mod to play SP after latest patch...
Prion replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
launch arma II, and click expansions and deselect the dayz stuff. then relaunch the game. -
i don't even care anymore, i feel like we're past the worst part of it. but i do agree the vast majority play the game like little girls. i was reading about a dude who has the alt-f4 keyboard combo setup bound to a mouse key. we definitely have a problem. i think once unlimited ammo / alt-f4 issues are are fixed the quality will go up dramatically.

HowTo: DayZ-Server via Windows VM (on Linux Debian)
Prion replied to krazey's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
beans for you sir its useful for a few reasons. virtualization technology has had hardware support for years, so the performance difference is <5% in most all scenarios. ever backup and restore using snapshots for VMs before? its pretty kickass and easy to do. in the event this server got into a bad state and totally fucked everything, you could spend 10 minutes restoring a snapshot and snap back to any hardware/software config and data you have. a great feature for server hosting. this thread has a misleading title though, it has nothing to do with running the server on linux. his answer is run it in a windows VM.
