  1. Using a spear or pole could/should be useful at keeping a zombie/infected at bay or outside arms reach. A form of crowd control.
  2. How about Antarctica (south-pole)? :) Building bases, flying around in helicopters and driving vehicles, snow caves.. Or some kind of underground complex ala Umrella Corporation's "Raccoon City". On a cruise liner perhaps?

  4. I guess I want a system where peoples fame and infamy rules your perception of other players. This way, a persons name will have to be fixed and locked onto an account. Eve onlines "friends" list come to mind, which could perhaps serve useful even if we all aren't on a single server. Getting to learn about other players names when you encounter them would be tricky, but surely such a problem can be solved somehow. I used to like having "bandits" have bandit skin, but no more.
  5. Description: • Having the option for a player character to climb a tree (somehow) and sit on a branch (somehow), for sitting at one fixed spot and scouting outwards and using the tree as a platform for firing a weapon. • A player character must decide while on the ground what direction he is to face once up in the tree, and the player character has to start climbing directly south of the tree to end up facing directly north. • Presumably, any tree would have enough branches that allow the player to basicly end up facing any direction around a tree. Three branches would be enough I suspect. • Climbing a tree would be suitable as a scouting platform, a sniping platform and also for hiding oneself. Animation: • Player character simply climb the trunk of a tree (perhaps some special equipment would be needed, not sure what) as if climbing a ladder where the player can control going upwards or downwards. • When reaching the top, the player character sit on the inner part of a branch. Upon finishing this animation, the player is free to access inventory, switch weapons, turn head around almost 360 degrees, and turn torso so that firearms end up having a possible 180 degree fire arc. • Falling down to ground animation, due to being shot or otherwise to having been incapacitated • Perhaps some kind of "quickly exit down from the tree" animation would look cool and somewhat plausible Consequences: • Presumably, only some trees are suitable for scouting, giving the player enough of an opening to view out from the tree • Trees might become hiding places, where heavy foilage on trees otherwise hinder visibility outwards • Visibility once being seated on a branch, might perhaps leave the player with less than an optimal range of view, for viewing his surroundings • Switching to 3rd person view, might or might not leave the player with a nice overview nonetheless. Depends really one how the idea actually work if/when implemented. • If one were to simply start climbing a tall tree, simply being up there climbing half way to the top, it might already provide the player with the wanted elevation, particulary if used with 3rd person camera view.

    Although I am against fake timesinks and pointless timesinks in a game, I do like the notion of having to wait a while for preparing a meal over a bonfire. Food and water consumption should be more realistic I think, so that one doesn't simply starve to death within an hour of gameplay. Having water would be alot more important than having no water to drink, so simply drinking sips and slurps off a bottle that keep being slowly emptied seem ok for me, instead of having to periodically bottle down lots of liquid in one go. Although not realistic, I am ok with having food having an instant healing effect. Instead of having the game sort of periodically punishing a gamer by how a player has no food at all every hour or so, having quality meals free of germs and such seem like a more plausible timesink mechanic for having players try finding food. Roasting a pig on an open fire, and slowly remove meat off its juicy carcass seem like fun to me. A prerequisite would be to carry the entire pig with you and then using a knife to tear pieces of meat off it.

    The Chernarus map actually features small greenhouses, though they look broken. I guess you could possibly find all kinds of edible vegetables there inside such type of greenhouses.
  8. I see that having players act like "ragdoll" is wanted, I cannot understand this need. I most definitely don't want some kind of awkward looking ragdoll animation for people being shot. I currently view ragdoll physics as an immersion killer. At the very least, I would like to see a direct comparison made of how the different animations actually look for any entity falling to the ground. What is the point of having ragdoll "animations"?

    I hope someone can go check if the camera placement for the pilot in the Mi-8 is correct, because when I flew it in arma2 forward visibility out the window seemed so bad despite all the large windows, as if the head of the pilot was wrongly placed too high. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfHU25sNWjI
  11. Speaking of magazines, I would want an animation for inspecting the individual clip already loaded into the weapon. I surmise that all real world ammo clips has some way for offering a clue as to how man cartridges are left in the clip..
  12. I think I fixed this earlier today not knowing how, but I have had such pixel artifacting for some time and wonder if anyone else know about this and perhaps know what is causing this issue. Radeon 7950 card with 12.8 drivers (august 2012).
  13. I have this issue ever now and then. FPS drops for a few seconds and then jump back up again. I get the impression that by stop running, the stuttering goes over a little more quickly. I have no idea what might be the cause. Experience such stuttering on at least the Chernarus and Namalsk map.

    DMR appreciation club

    I like the rate of fire with the DMR and it has a nice look to it. Yesterday, I went up on a large building to try try find a sniper that had been firing on one of our members on Namalsk. I sat there with my binoculars out and and eventually I spotted a guy in the woods about 600m off. I was shot at but the shots missed me. I then asked for borrowing someones DMR and aimed carefully from behind a corner to get some cover. I spotted the guy again and he was apparantly aiming right for med with a DMR. I fired off a few shots to try unsettle him and this sniper fell to the ground bleeding. And then he logged out.

    Tip: be more careful, and join others, and then be more careful Having someone keep watch from a hill seem like a good idea, for warning about people approaching.
  16. I think perhaps some items shouldn't fit in a backpack. Like jerry can's, or vehicle parts. Only way I can see this work differently, is for having to carry such items with your own hands, possibly carried by two people. My apologies, for a somewhat off topic post.

    Vehicles wiped

    Our server has beta 97448, playing with client 98220 (dayz 1.7.2.6) and all our vehicles disappeared with one server restart and has not reappeared after the following 6 restarts. The vehicles disappeared just after midnight today (all times GMT+2 unless I am mistaken), and the following are the server restarts that were made: 10/27/2012 00:30:14 10/27/2012 00:18:48 10/27/2012 00:10:41 10/27/2012 00:07:06 <--- the other restarts only had some of the tents reappear, with vehicles missing 10/27/2012 00:02:29 <--- vehicles and tents disappeared after this server restart What is a ".RPT" ?
  18. I dislike the "hide body" option and would prefer that to be disabled entirely. Alternatively, the hidden body should be replaced by dirt, as if the ground was dug into and had a body been ditched there, so that anyone finding this hard-to-see location could still be able to find the body and all items on it. Flies should then be disabled and an entrenching tool should be required to dig down the body.
  19. Trying to get into the game on private hive with several Panthera servers seem to lead nowhere, getting stuck on loading. I get into the multiplayer setup screen, press ok, going past "character crreation" and then the screen seem to freeze on "loading". Others on my team seem to get in without the same issue. Does anyone know if there is any known issue, for when being unable to get into the game being stuck on loading this way?
  20. If there were alot of players on the server, I could have expected to have to wait for it to load, but on a server with just 4 players on I can't help but thinking that something is wrong.
  21. What does "terrian grid" do? (Terrain grid?) Why would a change for this parameter matter?
  22. I was playing happily yesterday, but right now I am always being kicked out into windows after clicking OK in the multiplayer setup screen, and I don't know why. Even happening on my rented server for the DayZ mod in addition to a private hive server with the new Panthera map. The only change I have done since yesterday, is installing the Panthera map in DayZ Commander. Edit: If I reclick the tab in windows 7, I can hear audio in game, and if I click the mouse button my weapon fires. If I use the wasd keys, I am apparantly moving around, but there is nothing on the screen but whatever applications windows are already open in windows 7. My computer has been on for 24+ hours, maybe something got screwed up?
  23. Solution: Rebooting my computer (apparantly this made DayZ work again) I dislike computers more and more. :|

    More aircraft!

    I want to have more aircraft BUT I do not want to see aircraft keep respawning at airbases or other locations. There has to be some other spawn mechanic imo.
