Since you mentioned crafting, I think we should be able to craft arrows for the Crossbow. I made a thread regarding craftable arrows. You might want to check it out for ideas

Craftable Crossbow Arrows + Other stuff regarding the Crossbow

So with the new quiver, the crossbow is fairly useful now. But I see room for editions to it. I was thinking we should be able to craft wooden tipped arrows. The current non-craftable arrow: Arrow (Iron Tipped) - The Iron Tipped arrow with a 20% chance of breaking. The craftable arrow: Arrow (Wooden Tipped) - The Wooden Tipped arrow with a 20% of breaking, and a 10% chance to go blunt. Also, to down a zed with the wooden tipped arrow, it'd have to be a head shot, or two body shots. The blunt arrow: Arrow (Blunt) - The arrow formally known as the Wooden Tipped arrow, now blunt, could still be used but would require two head shots or 3-4 body shots to down a zed. The bolt - It was removed but it could be added back in for variety. Make it a slightly rarer find than the standard Iron Tipped arrow and have it unbreakable. Now onto how we craft the arrow. We would require logs, feathers from a chicken, and a knife to fletch and sharpen the arrow. To stop the possible abuse from crafting the arrow, give the knife a chance to go blunt. I also want to suggest to add another, rarer variant of the crossbow: Compound Crossbow (Scoped) How are these arrows going to be added into the quiver without them mixing/bugging up. Well, we could just keep it simple with naming the quivers: Quiver (Iron Tips), Quiver (Wooden Tips), Quiver (Bolts), Quiver (Blunts). Although this could become cluttered and messy and my knowledge on the ArmA II engine is lacking, but I was wondering if it's possible to have the arrows mixed inside a quiver while they keep the correct amount inside. Suggestion is open for more ideas and improvements.- 21 replies

I think it's a good idea. More variety never hurt, it keep things new and what not. This was mentioned in the New Loot Spawns thread along with camp sites as lootable areas I had up before, we should have a collection of new loot spawn ideas. -
Quiver, adding it to your tool belt and having it appearing on your back.

I like the idea of adding it to your toolbelt, but I'd also like the quiver to contain more arrows as well since I usually carry about... 5-7 in my back pack. Not sure about slinging it on your back and stuff since it'd clash with the backpack. Unless of course the quiver went down to the side of your hip, that'd work out real nice. -

I'm not gonna quote what the OP in that thread PMed me for the sake of privacy but he wasn't doing so hot. Infact he was doing pretty bad. Clearly it was a sensitive thing man, there's a time and place but that wasn't the time or place for a joke like that. But whatever, I'm not gonna argue or derail this thread any further. I'm not sure if this has been discussed already, I did a quick search and didn't find anything from it. So, I was thinking to have a wider variety of loot spawns in the DayZ Mod. These can range from: --- The destroyed cars can contain some small amounts of loot like food and drinks. Also, I don't think these cars should only be inside towns and cities, I think they should be varied along the road as if they ran outta gas and had to be abandoned half way on their trip. Oh and I don't think every vehicle has to be completely destroyed as if it's been hit by an RPG, it takes away the zombie apocalypse and "desperation" feel from it, if you get what I mean. And possibly even have one or two zed spawn on them to indicate their driver/passenger never made it and they turned. --- If there's a police car model somewhere, we can have small arms in it, or around it like some type of shotgun or pistol --- Loot inside garbage bins --- Medical Humvee could contain some medical supplies and maybe small arms, also maybe having one or two military zeds spawning near it --- Camps in the woods that look like this with canned food inside and around the camp, make it look messy as if there was an attack. Maybe also some random cooked meat on a grill or a stick over fire. One or two zeds roaming aroundPost any more loot spawn ideas you have 'em. The only problem I can see with this is the loot being hard to pick up, I think y'all know what I mean when I say it's tough to reach some things with the ArmA II engine.

Yeah that's the way I thought of as well or have the vehicle locked with gear inside it, but the first way seems easier.

If I had any knowledge on how to mod with ArmA II, I would've gone into more detail on this... Maybe the loot could be placed inside the trunk (gear) of a completely immobile car, maybe have it smashed on a pole like this and this Also here's what the camp loot spots could look like -------> Click me

A 'modern' crossbow shoots arrows, not bolts. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a bolt: These "bolts" look nothing like the things I shoot from my crossbow. And this would be an arrow. Looks exactly what I fire out of my crossbow.

Maybe you should check out my suggestions regarding craftable arrows + other stuff regarding the crossbow. If we can get enough buzz going on it, maybe the dev team could implent it.

I was outside a barn when I heard gunshots. I ran towards the gunfire to see what was happening, I went around the outside corner of a barn until I caught a glimpse of a man with broken legs, he took two shots at me as I ran past him and around the other side of the barn. I reloaded my AK, aimed down my sights and crept around the corner. He was distracted with a bunch of zeds attacking him. So with a straight face, I put him out of his misery. I unloaded half a clip into him and the zeds surrounding him. I never attack unless it's for strict self defense. I would've helped him, I had morphine and bloodbags, but he shot twice and it's a risk I wasn't willing to take. I stand alone in DayZ, and people have yet to take my wings. I don't kill for beans, or for fun. Only if others are threatened or if it's for strict self defense. Right after I killed that guy, I went west of Sol, I saw a white car near by and then I saw a man with a hatchet being chased by a small horde of zeds. He ran my way, then he saw me with my gun aimed towards him, and darted to another direction. I took aim at the zeds behind him and killed them all. I lowered my gun, and the man came back to me and said he was scared I was gonna shoot him. I told him I wouldn't, I then told him to take the white car. He asked me to team up with him, I told him "I stand alone for now. I'm gonna head my way, good luck" he replies "Good luck to you too." And I disappear into the woods. -
