    Pending Update: Build 1.7.2

PVP is the fabric that holds DayZ together. Without it, this game would be little more than a zombie-themed grind-fest. You don't have to be a bandit to realize this. If there's little-to-no chance of PVP encounters, then here's the game-winning strategy: 1. Group up with at least one other player. 2. Have your friend wait on the edge of the town as you go in and aggro all zeds away from all enter-able structures. 3. Your friend is then free to casually stroll in and loot everything in sight without any resistance. 4. To lose the zeds, a) run into a building and kill/lose line-of-sight of the zeds or b) let your friend pick them off from a distance. 5. Rinse and repeat for all cities/towns/airfields until you have accumulated the best gear and all vehicles. tl;dr DayZ without PVP = fucking boring
  2. I'm not quite sure what the OP is talking about, but I spent an hour or so yesterday crouch-walking near large groups of zeds in Cherno without any issues. You can easily get within 10 metres of a zed as long as they aren't facing directly towards you. I even started running just to make a zombie train, but after turning a few corners, 3/4 of the zeds lost line of sight and stopped chasing. Too easy. Don't forget; empty cans/bottles are incredibly useful for distracting/drawing zeds out and away from buildings. They're arguably the single most effective item if you need to stealth-raid cities and towns.
  3. No offense OP, but it sounds like you're just lazy. No, really. Take a look at this link: http://picacid.com/arma2/loot_en.html As you can see, the Hatchet has a spawn chance of 10.78% in industrial structures and 6.12% in farming structures, making it an incredibly common item. Now, check out this fucking awesome map. Every single yellow and green dot is an area where the hatchet can spawn. Honestly, if you haven't found a hatchet within 20 minutes of spawning on the beach, you're doing something wrong.

Why didn't you just post the picture, OP? Also, here's a more in-depth guide on changing your field of view.

Xbox 360 Xmapper Presets Created for Day-Z

Nope.avi Thumbsticks/joysticks accel at anything that involves movement. When it comes to aiming' date=' a thumbstick/joystick simply cannot match the precision of a mouse. I'd love to see a player with a controller consistently pull off these shots against top-tier kb/m players.

You can disable them by changing the difficulty to the highest setting (Veteran I think).

Help With ArmA Editor And DayZ Skins

I'm fairly certain that the survivours use the Private Military Company (PMC) skins.

    illegal copies may degrade

There is one I found on the Dayzwiki that works well (although it doesn't record playtime). Go here' date=' then scroll down to [i']"Make a shortcut to launch ARMA2 Beta with Steam Overlay."

    M40A3 and Suppressed Makarov

If it's not on the DayZ loot cheat sheet, it's probably not legit. The only legit weapon I've come across that doesn't appear to be on the list is the RGO frag grenade. It doesn't seem to spawn in a building or shack, but rather inside a vehicle (the military version of the UAZ to be specific).

I have the Steam version and I was receiving the same message after using this install guide for the beta. Thankfully, I checked out the thread a few days later and Dwarden (BIS developer) posted that using this beta installation method can screw up your game; I guess it somehow activates FADE. I quickly reverted back to the regular beta installation method and I haven't seen that message since. I'm certain I've seen this same install guide floating around on here, so if you've used it, I suggest you do the same.

    M16A2 Shooting High?

You're probably using SD ammo, and it appears to be a glitch; I'll try to explain. Most assault rifles in Arma 2/DayZ are zeroed for 300 metres. Silenced (SD) ammo has a much lower muzzle velocity than regular ammo, so it drops very quickly over range. In order to make that bullet travel 300 metres, you need to compensate heavily for bullet drop. A rifleman in real-life would compensate for bullet drop by aiming above his target. However, the game strangely compensates for this by literally changing the ballistics of the weapon, making the bullet arc upwards as soon as it exits the barrel. Basically, if you use SD ammo in an un-silenced weapon, the ballistics seem to change significantly. EDIT: I hope my shitty paint picture helps explain it a bit better than I could:
  16. [FIXED] Flares/Chemlights now work properly if the player is holding one while riding a bicycle [NEW] Zombies can now attack while running [NEW] Zombies can now run inside certain types of buildings (specifically ones that have lots of room such as warehouses, barns, etc) [NEW] Pistols/sidearms can now be lowered [NEW] Added the CDF and Civilian versions of the Mi-17 [NEW] Added the An-2 [NEW] Added various Russian counterparts of existing weapons (ie. AKS-74 PSO as the counterpart to the M16A4 ACOG) [NEW] Added more "emote" animations such as waving, pointing in a direction, surrendering, as well as many others. EDIT: One more addition I'd love to see: [NEW] Added the wrecked Mi-8, a Russian counterpart to the wrecked Venom helicopters. Spawns high-tier Russian weaponry such as the KSVK, AKS-74 NSPU and PKP Pechneg. [screenshot #1] [screenshot #2] [screenshot #3]

If you can't stand first-person view, you could try adjusting your field of view using this guide to make it more bearable.

    m136/AT-4?

Yes, it has always been in-game. It's just insanely rare (0.11% chance of spawning) and the barracks are the only area where it can spawn.

    Grey All Over My Game?

You don't meet the minimum requirements for ArmA 2. You have an integrated graphics chip' date=' which isn't intended for gaming. Since you're on a laptop, you won't be able to upgrade. I suggest you look into building a desktop PC:

  22. Date/Time: Today at around 11:10 AM (Mountain Time) What happened: Spawned two clones of myself Where you were: About 1 km west of Gorka in a small forest What you were doing: Looking for a deer stand Current installed version: 1.7.1 (beta 93825) Server(s) you were on: I'm not too certain (wasn't paying attention), but it was either on Atlanta 21 or US Hardcore 2 Timeline of events before/after error: - Joined the server with extremely low fps (around 5 or so). - Disconnected and rejoined in an unsuccessful attempt to fix the low fps; found a clone of myself upon spawning. Zeds almost immediately began chasing me so I disconnected. - I rejoined once more and found a second clone of myself upon respawning. I was able to look through the gear of both clones and sure enough they had the exact same gear as me. [screenshot #1] [screenshot #2] [screenshot #3]
