You could struggle on bandwidth. A busy server can supposedly chew through 2-3TB/month. -
Should just despawn everything when it crosses the line. Cross the line, lose your gun, your food. Be funny as hell when someone tried to fly a chopper over it...

If it doesn't work, best check you aren't loaded up with spyware.

In my (limited) experience, the zombies appear more interested in the light source than the person who threw it.
