So today, I killed another guy on a server I normally play on, he was in a ghillie suit just stood there, so i popped him a few times in his head with my m14, proceeded to kill the z's that came in response to the gun shots, The guy didn't die, he just stood there, no name popped up saying so n so has died,( wont mention his name or the server, but I've killed this guy twice now) guessing he alt-f4'd out. -.- But his body stayed there, with the flies buzzing. :), so I helped myself to his AK-74, mags - (had ran out of m14 ammo), food, water, antibiotics, M9 and mags, So if there's a guy that returns after alt-f4in with no gear, well am sorry, hahah what am I saying......no I aint! bit annoying I didn't get the kill though, I also checked who else was playing about ten mins after ( by pressing P, does it work properly? ) and what do ya know, he's playing again.....

I believe it works best with both arma II and arrowhead

thanks for the replies guys, I think my ping on that server was about 50-60, not amazing but not that awful. My character is still alive, but hopefully he isnt hahah

Will see if I or my mate have a extra murder next time we log in, someone definitely died though, but because he alt f4'd out, I dunno if he will be dead when he rejoins. It's kinda a bit annoying it takes a good few seconds to register, especially for a PVP online game. Is it the servers? Or the game engine?

I like the idea, but something like this probably wouldn't be implemented till/if the game goes standalone, then players will have paid for the game. So to ban someone from the whole game for disconnecting is a bit far, probably legally too far. Perhaps when the game goes standalone, rocket could just implement a block on pressing windows keys?

I don't like that idea, what if a guy is attacked on three occasions and kills the aggressor on the three occasions? Is that fair to turn him into a zed? I've killed three guys with my character, I had no choice what so ever, kill or be killed. So i'd turn into a zed? That would drive alot of players away from the mod/standalone game.

hey all, I bloody love this game/mod, so thanks rocket :) I was crawling around Berenzino today, after heading to the hospital and supermarket, crawling back down the hill on the west side of town towards the apartments near the lower supermarket, avoiding the zeds as I go along. Then heard "tap tap tap tap tap" sounded like a semi automatic weapon, went to investigate. The first building I came to, no one there, kept searching slowly, I knew he was close, so kept creeping, walked around another building (one that couldn't be entered) spotted him, he was crouched by a building in a camo suit, (one of them crap wooden huts) At that point I went back on myself and came up behind him and bam! I fired my M4A1 the guy took over half a mag, he slowly turned around, fired a shot with his M24 but it missed, and dropped to the floor! For some reason it was pretty delayed though. Of course I looted him, camo clothes, but I couldn't take them as he was wearing them, alice pack, M24, PDW, some food,coke the usual stuff, I didn't take the M24 as its not my style, stole some food, coke and morphine though. I then left his body there, just in case someone else came across it :) He may have returned, but it would have been a long trip from the south coast, by that point I was long gone! I have to admit though, I could physically feel my heart pounding I was so excited stalking and murdering a dirty sniper!!! If only he wasn't blatting of rounds at zed's he'd still be alive! Tom

I prefer it being totally random! it requires the user to have common sense and the ability to read a map and figure out where you actually are! Without some piss easy solution choose where you spawn!

I was in the army, I know for a fact we didnt have any 50cal ammo on our camp, 5.56, 5.56 link and 7.62 link only :) But even on my trip to afghan, in nadi ali we didn't even have enough 50cal ammo for our hmg.

I think the ammo should be very limited as it would be in this situation. I also think that upon firing a .50cal, (which ya would hear from probably over a mile away) z's should be very attracted to it and come looking for you.

I was killed twice for pretty much nothing when i started playing dayz, since then, I shoot on sight, well ya may be lucky as I'll sneak up closer and unload my M1014 slugs in your face!!!! Then steal everything you have of worth, probably eat ya beans even if am not hungry,

When the game goes standalone, I will not pay a subscription fee to play the game, I just wont do it. A one of payment for the game is all I will pay. Also yeah thats great paying a server to play the game, until a hacker hacks the server and rinses ya bank account.

I don't think removing sniper rifles is the right idea really, come on guys? Name a army type game that doesn't have sniper rifles? Players would kick right off if their beloved as50's was removed! It wont ever ever happen. Maybe a limitation on the ammo for sniper rifles, as really there wouldn't be alot of 50 cal ammo just laying around in a apocalypse anyway.

Just pop a few rounds in him as he gets to the top!
